Got a dope ass Thinkpad neoprene sleeve with a handle that hides away when not in use that looks almost like a briefcase for Xmas for my T14s. I'm so sorry anons. For years I made fun of you, calling them chinkpads, stinkpads, etc, thinking you were all retarded for buying what I thought were all obsolete e-waste trash but when my macbook air from 2013 started getting a bit long in the tooth (and really long in compile times for projects I'm developing) I went looking for a new laptop and saw the absurd fucking prices they want for intel macbooks that are only a couple years newer than mine with almost no hardware improvement, and the double retarded prices for most brand new machines I took a look at eBay and came across a seller that had an "A/B grade" T14S for $190 so I gave it a shot, figuring if it was a piece of trash I'm only out two bills. Within 10 minutes of it arriving at my door I had cloned my macbook air ssd with arch on it to the T14S ssd and booted up. I went from 15s compile times to... I shit you fucking not, 0.0248s ... I thought it had to be fucking up and not actually compiling, so I manually deleted every object file and the binary instead of relying on my makefile to clean compile, and compiled again. 0.0246s. no fucking way. I run the binary, stress test it to see if it crashes under extreme load or has some other unintended behavior because I still felt like that compile time couldn't be right, it had to be missing something... Nope. It was working perfectly. No segfault, no memory leaks, nada. The compile time was the real deal. Sorry for the blog post. The gist of it is, I'm a faggot doublenigger for doubting you guys all these years and being a stupid macfaggot and assuming that - based on the looks of Thinkpads alone - that all Thinkpads were extremely outdated core2quad era garbage and that there weren't any with modern specs. I was wrong. You guys were right.
Seriously anyone still use older thinkpad in this day and age?I mean the hardware is obsolete now to do anything meaningful unless you just do simple text editing and very basic web site browsing.

I was thinking about this for some time, renewable is a joke, nuclear is too expensive, hydro isn't available everywhere and cause problems with downstream countries Oil and Gas as energy sources are>Scalable >Cheap and abundant >The price of a power station is dirt cheap>Less variables that can reduce the output >Tech can be improved to reduce pollution Other alternatives are just failing to meet one or most of these criteriaThe US current attempt to change Venezuela gov is a public declaration that alternatives have mostly failed and at best just reduced the need for gas and oil by small margins
Are these things even worth it anymore? I have the original 8GB pic related. Now the 16GB is almost $170 and the HAT is pretty useless though its done a 2x street price since launch. I could get a lattepanda or something. I like the idea of a Pi5 16GB: enough memory and processor to run better/larger LLMs off 2.5W at ~1 token/sec. Even a solar battery. It's cool to have a philosopher in a box like that. The tinker side GPIO and stuff doesn't interest me for personal projects. Anyway should I just get a Jetson Nano or N150 or something.
>>107669948this, the only reason to buy a Pi anymore is to take advantage of the few niche features it hasLike usb gadget modeand composite outand the camera connectorIf you just want a "server" it's time to get a n150 box.
>>107669797The best and most useful pi is the cheapest one. That one that's like $30. I don't understand the point of the fancy ones unless you have some really specific need for the power.

>>107669692Linux users will really make shit up and larp about having a more useful os instead of being honest and admitting their hobby is tinkering. Gentoo gets fucking mogged in usefulness and usability by whatever the fuck gnome is pushing as a flagship distro (I genuinely cannot be assed to look it up, gnome is that ass), literally any other distro would be a better choice. Gentoo’s whole gimmick of “le everything is compiled from source” is a fun tech demo, but has no real advantage aside from better support on hyper niche or machines from over 20 years ago. Why lie? Why pretend like gentoo is useful? Just because you want to kick yourself in the nuts every time you install a package doesn’t mean this is useful to others.

Why do all "platforms" make recaps at the end of the year?
>>107669547>Don't give a company information you don't want them to haveoh they’ll take it. whether offered up freely or not.If you’ve so much as stepped foot in a grocery store in the last 5 years they’ve created a profile on you. even if you brought no electronics and left without buying anything. they’ve tagged you with facial recognition and gait analysis. they know what they can advertise to you based on how you made your way through the store. they’ve gathered everything they possibly can and they’ll sell it to anyone who’ll pay.
>>107669710that's why I put a different rock in my shoe every time I walk in
>>107669205It's a really easy feature to implement and have a lot of impact in terms of free advertising. You just show some statistics and say that 'you're a stray ajzz cat who eats slop a lot'. People share it in messengers and some stories in Instagram.
