>Find an ancient SD card that was left unpowered for over 15 years>Still works>Still has every last bit of data on it, just like a decade and a half agoIs the whole "muh flash memory doesn't retain any data if left unpowered for a year+!" thing a retarded meme perpetuated by the spinning rust industry that we allowed ourselves to fall for? I get that it's an anecdotal sample size of one, but then again, all of my spinning rust HDDs failed after less than 10 years of use (also anecdotal, but makes me think).Kingston micro SD card btw.

Can i request some help please?I would like to elevate my keyboardI’ve been looking for a very specific keyboard and struggling to find it or even a place to custom add the features i want. I want to completely remove the need for a mouse. I just want one device that can do everything i need, primarily playing the Sims and basic office related computer tasks. It’s like i want a mash up of the following:> https://perixx.com/products/periboard-322> https://sealshield.com/product/s108pg/> https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/p/accessories-and-software/keyboards-and-mice/keyboards/4y40x49493I have the Lenovo, and love it, but the trackpoint is only good for excel related things and is not enough for Sims and certainly doesn’t negate a mouse all together..Thanks to anyone with some advice!

>>107692328As someone who used to absolutely hate the default keybindings, I have to say now that it's not as bad as I once thought. The beginner version of me would see a key sequence like:C-x t t C-x C-fand think, "How tf am I supposed to remember all that?"Now, I see it as a kind of composable language.C-x t t -- means do the next operation in a new tabC-x C-f -- means open a file (or "find" a file in emacs parlance)=Enabling which-key-mode help a lot, too.= The tree of command possibilities that used to be invisible becomes visible, and Emacs starts making more sense. Also, I actually use evil most of the time, but a lot of the default keybindings are still there, so I use both Vim and Emacs style keybindings simultaneously. I used classic Vim for a long time before I switched to Emacs, and I still like that style of editing. However, VimScript is caveman tier compared to Elisp so I'm happy that I can have the best of both worlds by using Emacs+Evil.

Fellow fa/g/s, are we coping with anxiety well?
Will 2026 finally be the year of the RISC desktop?
>>107688941RiSC-V has the totality of US academia behind it. One would have thought that that would be worth something. A good fab line is generally available, just call TSMC.
>>107676454It'll come right after the year of the ARM desktop and the year of Linux
>>10768894168k, Z80, PDP-11, VAX, S/370, and all the other processors people actually used were CISC too. The CISC philosophy makes more sense because the idea is that complicated parts should be done by the hardware, which makes software simpler and run faster. Look at some of the instructions z/Architecture (modern version of S/360 mainframes) has. IBM put those instructions in there because it's faster than doing it in software. Even a lot of RISCs have memory move instructions now, when in the 80s and 90s those would automatically make a processor CISC.
>>107692093Turns out the totality of US academia is really fucking sketchy, because they keep patenting anything they think is worth money while still selling it as free / open source and soliciting more grants.
>>107692457All those companies took fuckloads of government money too. The simple reality is whatever technical merit one arrangement had over another is totally overridden by government and banks picking winners and losers via access to capital. Appealing to the top level market is pointless because it's a completely different kind of market than it claims to be.In situations where people are allowed to choose what they want, RISC has a way of showing up a lot. Loongarch and RISC-V for instance.
If Apple products are so bad then why does everyone else copy them?
Because normies (especially women) are retarded, so if you make your non-Apple product look vaguely like an Apple product, it will improve sales.
