>>106529785Had some older friends on discord who were programmers, I was about 13 or 14. I was already interested in programming, knew some C, and they were making a project so I decided to tag along. Learned Java, then got into Haskell and functional programming, then had my "radical simplicity" phase. I basically did stuff I liked and wanted to impress my friends. When I finished school I got into Uni for CS. That's basically it.

It has been a while since I last saw a fastman thread, has /g/ gotten too slow?
Loonix is unironically the worst for living off the grid since you're constantly dependent on internet connection to install anything, unlike Windows and Mac where you can just save .exes (or .dmg with Mac) and backup them to your USB drive.I don't know why off the grid schizos have been conveniently ignoring this fact for years and doing nothing about it. I guess it's more about larping to them. IF YOU ARE CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET YOU ARE NOT PRIVATE

which payment method for point of sale transactions do you think is best, considering privacy, anonymity, security and ease of use?big tech / apple pay seems less private, however the use of virtual card numbers and tokenization seems like it would help leak less information to merchantscards are a similar story, but using a credit card might be better in terms of security in case it is lost or stolen cash is obviously anonymous, but many stores no longer accept it and it is also easy to lose, get stolen or scammed by the indian worker who cant do math and charges you extraobviously nothing will beat monero xmr, however i dont think your local goyslop merchant is going to be accepting this any time soon

Is there any general way to be able to use a laptop strictly through power without it touching the battery? I know this seems something more suited to a Google search but there's so much conflicting information that I couldn't get a proper answer, sometimes apparently you could simply remove the battery and use it like that, sometimes apparently the laptop won't post without the battery. And there's a bunch of brand specific BIOS stuff that also depends on the laptop model and it's all so confusing.I will mainly be using my laptop intensely and I don't wanna kill the battery because of it, so in general is it bad if I constantly use it while it's plugged in? And if so what are some remedies?
>>106539510The funny number is 67 now, unc
>>106541179True but my use case (video games honestly) can get pretty hot which would rapidly degrade the battery more then usual
It used to be more common in older laptops where you could easily physically detach the battery. Nowadays, I really doubt it's possible in most cases. I wouldn't worry, just run the battery and replace it when the performance of it becomes unacceptable to you. You'll likely get a few good years out of it.
>>106541319You can still detach the batteries easily. Just that they are no longer external.
>>106541281Actually the cold fuck them more
