I upgraded from a GTX 970 to an AMD Vega 56 (hand-me-down, obviously, it's not a cost-effective card) and everything worked out of the box without fucking with anything.
AMD has their own propriety drivers, but you don't need to use them.
They've been using Mesa for a long time now.

Wouldn't recommend Intel Arc for Linux yet based on remaining driver issues, though it's pretty good for windblows.

Hello everyone, I have an old desktop PC sitting right there doing nothing. I'm trying to give it a reason to exist and evaluating the idea to install Windows 7 on it.
So, can you use Windows 7 in these days? How much do you have to debloat it and uninstall things? And, more important, there's a way to not have it becoming a SECURITY NIGHTMARE?

So true, my beloved Photoshop CS6 and Vegas Pro 13 run fine on 7 in virtualbox, I feel like a goddamn idiot clinging onto my 2012 era computer for 11 years when I could've just been using Linux years and years ago and having newer hardware, which would get me more performance, which is the whole reason I was hanging onto old ass windows 7

At this point, I wont even use any desktop environment on linux if it isn't X11. Even XFCE is dead to me because it has wayland support. I will never support anything wayland based on linux.

should i use xlibre or wayland on my laptop?
>>
>>107653632
Xlibre only exists because they ejected enrico, which they didn't have to do, despite the claims that he is just mucking things up, they could have just had in work on a "future/dev" branch to protect the master, and decide if any of the work was worth merging, but instead they let enrico basically do whatever he wanted , and then claim that somehow he is at fault for them accepting those patches and breaking the master which shouldn't be considered stable anyway. They don't like enrico, they don't want the xserver to gain any new features, that is why xlibre exists , it is the only way anything new will be added to the xserver. and they have added new features to the xserver. so I don't see how xlibre is the same as the freedesktop xserver project.

I researched "Looking Glass Linux" and it seems to depend on KVM. So you would have to remove that barrier. FreeBSD does not support KVM.

I tried to install adguard on my android phone and 4chan ads still show up. Is that normal?
>>
>>107661837
AdGuard does not yet consider hakurei/danbo ads to be "real" ads so neither the extension nor the DNS blocks them. Which is not absurd because in the past middlead has gone back and forth for containing real ads and shitposts and the current ones look a lot like shitposts even though they are paid for and have tracking. Add the custom rule from >>107661758
>! in-house ads
>||us-cdnbo.org
Ironically you're only seeing them because of the boards.4chan.org#@#.middlead exception from Easylist. Which is present for the same reason as above.
If you mean the banners which are definitely not ads at all but if you want to kill those the filter would be ##.bannerCnt
>>
>>107661867
I only use the adguard DNS on android.

If you can program you'll figure it out. Some oddities in that things aren't procedural, but great for certain types of work.
I used icestudio as it has a flow designer, but you can still drop in code modules and write blocks of code. Easier then trying to figure out how they instantiate objects.

Looks pretty cool.
If I can virtualize it, I'll give it a shot and see how to compares. I imagine they lifted a lot of aspects of Android to make a familiar front-end.

>I wonder how effective is it against israeli spyware?
I'm going to expand to Western spyware in general.
Does anyone remember when Snowden said that the NSA infiltrated into Huawei and planted spyware on their equipment? And also placed malicious code on customer equipment so entities who tried to avoid Western hardware were still compromised?
I know it's a meme about the "buy Chinese = no American spyware", but the cold reality is that federal spy agencies are not holding back from spying from ANY vendor.
If anything, Harmony OS will be a boon for anti-PRC entities because I don't think many Westerners would be switching to it. So, malicious entities can compromise it fully and can confidently assume the target is a Chinese entity.
If the PRC were smart, they would try to foster a culture of cybersecurity to be discuss vulnerabilities, patch them quicker, and ultimately lower risk. That would make HarmonyOS more "dangerous" as that would increase it's reputation as security-focus.

But honestly, yes, it would be great to see HarmonyOS on the world stage.
I think more OS to break the iOS-Android duopoly would be great.
