Does anyone have experience with aliexpress cheap(ish) portable multimeter+oscilloscope devices? I've been eyeing some of them, but I kinda have some healthy doubt about them. How do I check if there's a virus that's planted itself on a drive (non-bootable; backup)? I'm wholly ignorant with regards to knowing what a virus can and cannot do, so I don't know what precautions to take to ensure another system/drive doesn't get infected. I don't believe I have any reason to worry, but I just want 100% assurance (even though there's almost no such thing).

Are virus/malware scanners sufficient? What then if something is found, and how to discern between a false positive? Do I just nuke my partition table and use recovery software to recover my files?

Here is something that will make a lot of people seethe as well: the home row method is sub optimal.

Also OP this is one of the reasons to get a Pi (not for that asking price however), the thing is a light sipper for being a home server or media center than a full fledged PC.

Only problem is it struggles to do multiple things (something they've been trying to fix to mixed success) at the same time.
