It isn't the 2000s anymore anon. Windows makes up a relatively small percentage of microsofts annual revenue, and most of that comes from businesses that are paying the big bucks to deshittify their os. They make more money shilling their products to a dwindling audience than they would otherwise make

Light themes are objectively superior to dark themes, why do so many people still choose dark?

I only need a light theme if I go outside with my computer.
>>

I think it's the same reason as people buying peripherals with tons of bright LEDs, when you're a kid you think the "gaymer" aesthetic of dark mode with bunch of bright lights is epic. For me personally not only do I think it looks worse aesthetically, it's also just less consistent and compatible with programs and sites, everything almost supports light mode while most sites and programs don't support dark mode properly, it's also terrible for my eyes, for some reason if I use dark mode my eyes after a few hours become red as fuck and it's difficult for me to read white text on a black background, while black text on a white background like irl is super easy.

A lot of the data centers are actually being built for inference, meaning using the model. That's by far the most costly step to AI since you're putting as much compute load on the hardware as when if you're training but by definition you never stop doing it. Any economically productive LLM would be foolish to ever not run at full blast using as much hardware as you can afford to run it with. If you have a 100 billion dollars the smartest thing to do is to buy 100 billion dollars worth of hardware for the LLM to do more and faster inference with. Assuming its actually economically productive.
>>
>>107840661
>we're arguing if they're capable of doing real work
What do you mean by "doing" and "real work". If they can make humans on average twice as productive (and if there is a market in the world for that much labor) then the datacenters will be worth the investment.

>considering LLMs are incapable of achieving AGI
I don't consider that proven. You would first have to give your definition of AGI, and explain why it is relevant to the economic question.
>>
>>107840675
>more uses at... playing chess?
No, more uses THAN playing chess. In particular, LLM based systems have uses for which people are willing to regularly spend money, making those uses economic relevant.

A few days ago, something really interesting happened: For the first time, an AI generated a mathematical proof that was not yet known: https://www.erdosproblems.com/728

In most cases where this has happened, it was later discovered that a solution already existed in the literature, but this problem had been formulated incorrectly and was only corrected a few months ago, which means there was no prior literature on it.

Sometimes of you say that AI will be limited by "not being able to create new things," but I think this case shows that it's not quite like that at all, and that most people are still underestimating AIs.

Just use both mpv and mpcqt depending on the scenario. I made wrappers for both media players

~/.local/bin/mediaplayer

setsid ~/Applications/mpv-master/build/mpv --player-operation-mode=pseudo-gui --stop-screensaver=always --volume=84 --geometry=50%:50% --autofit=500 --autofit-smaller=360x800 --force-window --loop-playlist \
--cache=yes --cache-secs=60 --demuxer-seekable-cache=yes --demuxer-max-bytes=200M "$@" >/dev/null 2>&1 &

~/.local/bin/mediacenter
setsid mpc-qt "$@" >/dev/null 2>&1 &

and here is a bonus fun one for playing videos as puzzles in vlc
~/.local/bin/puzzlevid
setsid vlc --video-filter=puzzle --puzzle-rows=4 --puzzle-cols=4 --no-audio "$@" >/dev/null 2>&1 &

It doesn't, but you need working RAM in a working computer. Which you don't have. The computer is too old and poorly configured. If it wasn't a broken computer, you wouldn't crash all the time.

You can thoughbeit. This is why I'm certain that 99% of criticism of Windows here is bullshit, none of you even use Windows. You can install old notepad at any point easily through Settings -> System -> Optional features -> Add a feature -> "Notepad"
or install the new notepad through various methods
>Microsoft Store
>winget in Terminal/PowerShell
>Appx from rg adguard store
You have options, unlike loonix, windows values user freedom.

Eh, that only works to a point. GPUs have come down a lot from bitcoin days, because back then demand was driven by FOMO and people who wanted to use them to make money.
RAM prices will likely remain high for a while, but eventually FOMO-driven retards will be sated and normal people will just not buy shit until it comes back down again.
