In windows, I just search "size:>1mb size:<2mb" and it'll show files in that size range, how can I do that in Linux Mint Nemo?
>>107699715You can't do anything to 'check the filesystem' without alternate hardware or a reformat. The odds you ran into a legit fs issue with such a basic use case are very small. More likely your SSD was already fucking up and you just happened to notice the first time in Linux or you found a controller bug.

What's /g/'s opinion on Mental Outlaw? I've been a fan of his for a long long time, he's the one that made me privacy conscious and made me switch to Linux. I remember once reading in one of his comment sections that he was "bullied off /g/" by some guy, is this true? Also, if you're seeing this thread Kenny, hi!

He's a Language arts PHD dropout that decided to just copy the most successful Linux YouTuber at the time (Mental Outlaw) but Luke's technical competence is so low he makes several mistakes whenever he rips off one of Kenny's videos. When people called him out on this Luke started grasping for ways to stand out from being another Mental Outlaw clone.1st Luke started shilling credit cards, he even disabled all crypto payments on his POD bookstore because Kenny hates the debt based financial system.2nd Luke took an anti-gaming stance because Kenny occasionally plays vidya with his gf.3rd Luke took an anti phone and anti gun position because Kenny carries both as part of his EDC4th, Luke stopped making his videos in the woods because Kenny took over his family farm and made a couple videos about it. Luke just can't stand living in Kenny's shadow.5th, Luke became anti restaurant because Kenny works with local restaurants to get organic food scraps for his animals and sells the meat and eggs back to the restaurantAnd the most hilarious LARP of all is Luke pretending to be a Christian so he could enhance his E-begging and associate himself with Terry Davis despite desktop ricing being his greatness programming accomplishment.

These machines have more RAM (and it's ECC!) than I could ever need, and generally better build quality, but the fans (even in the 4U models) are louder (though I can replace them), and even at idle, they can consume more power and run hotter.

Well, it is the end of the year. Anything you thought was particularly cool or noteworthy that caught your eye this year?
Half-venting, half-serious inquiry: why the fuck is Google shadowbanning (shown to only me while logged in, not shown to anyone else or to me while logged out) the following comments. Separate comments on separate lines, all shadowbanned:>About hardware: even back in 2016 I needed 128Gb of RAM to provide a service for my clients on a level that they expected, in 2025 that's a Threadripper with 8x32 and 24Gb of VRAM at minimum.>My company will outperform anyone who has inferior software, hardware, and less efficient pipelines. Outperform on money and on time. Clients expect top end results with a quick turnaround.>Another example, I have 3 large screens because over a year, it's far cheaper for me to buy 2 extra monitors, than to constantly waste time alt+tabbing to view references or communicate, etc.>But nobody would ever need 3 screens because you can do everything with 1 screen also, right? That's the difference between tinkerers and professionals: time = money.(arguing with a faggot saying my shitty thinkpad and opensource toys can do *everything*)Is Google fucking retarded? I haven't been able to converse with anyone for the better part of the last 5 years. The same bullshit, have a casual conversation going (or try to have), then check it while logged out and see that 70% of what I've posted has never appeared publicly. Sometimes the most mundane shit gets autodeleted like: "I wish you happy holidays, mate". At one point I tried to help some guy out by typing only "You can find it by googling *some mundane shit about computing*" aaaand shadowbanned. I may use my phone and an alt account, still the same shit. What in the ungodly fuck is going on? Not a single swearword. Not a single no-no topic. And then there's endless fucking botposts with the same exact spamcontent on every fucking major fagtuber 15 seconds after publishing a video. Oh then they are powerless, nothing they can do. Fuck them with a rusty iron spike. What the fuck is their problem?

They're banning your ass because you obviously make rude comments. Why not use your freedom speech to produce a well-articulated video on the topic?Schreeching and cursing like a sperg might pass as free speech, but it's annoying and irritating to most people.

>>107699375>The shadowbans are performed on a per google account basis.I wish. I have 4 accounts, the oldest from 2006, pre-google. I logged in to my alts and tried posting comments that were shadowbanned on my main account, and it was the same bs. Either they've flagged all of my connected accounts, or there's something else going on under the hood.
Reddit is the best source of accurate up-to-date information
>>107695724Reddit has the Wiki problem: it requires autists online 24/7 to maintain current (not accurate) information while pruning outdated information and there's no reliable way to distinguish the two. It's an unreliable shitheap today. Stack Overflow has a better but still flawed approach.

back in the day, when I was a young student I went the whole nine yards playing with cyberpunk clothing. Goretex jackets, pants with straps leading nowhere, and a long weird list of accessories. After years assembling different outfits and fighting over the small sizes of clothes because all the shit came from China, I learned the best cyberpunk clothing has to comply with three basic requirements>real /cyb/ clothing has to be cheapThe /cyb/ spirit is about having a low life where you live with essential basics, you have to spend on clothing when it is an absolute necessity and not for a fashion statement. >everything you wear has to be made of good materials made to endure hard environments. the idea of the genre is that you wear based on pragmatics, the first thing it has to do is to protect you and be comfy>you have to feel natural inside the context you are in wearing your clothesartists like scarlxrd, that use techwear or cyberwear look good in front on the cameras with black parkas and wearing tactical vests on top of it, but if you try that kind of outfit in the real world, you are going to feel like a dark clown, it makes no sense to stand out unnecessarily and feel out of place and the most important lesson of allComment too long. >The development comes a little over a year after the tech giant [Google] disclosed that its transition to Rust led to a decline in memory safety vulnerabilities from 223 in 2019 to less than 50 in 2024.>The company pointed out that Rust code requires fewer revisions, necessitating about 20% fewer revisions than their C++ counterparts, and has contributed to a decreased rollback rate, thereby improving overall development throughput.>We adopted Rust for its security and are seeing a 1000x reduction in memory safety vulnerability density compared to Android's C and C++ code. But the biggest surprise was Rust's impact on software delivery," Google's Jeff Vander Stoep said. "With Rust changes having a 4x lower rollback rate and spending 25% less time in code review, the safer path is now also the faster one >With roughly 5 million lines of Rust in the Android platform and one potential memory safety vulnerability found (and fixed pre-release), our estimated vulnerability density for Rust is 0.2 vuln per 1 million lines (MLOC).>Our historical data for C and C++ shows a density of closer to 1,000 memory safety vulnerabilities per MLOC. Our Rust code is currently tracking at a density orders of magnitude lower: a more than 1000x reduction.https://thehackernews.com/2025/11/rust-adoption-drives-android-memory.html
