Yann's right though. At the end of the day our brains mainly evolved to do two things: throw rocks at stuff accurately, and lie to other humans while sussing out their lies.
>>
baldie is retarded and trying to mask it with jargon
of course our brains are tuned to the physical world. there was no other world to tune it to when our brains developed. our brains sure as fuck weren't tuned for text, that was a later adaptation. hominids didn't develop brand new brains out of vapor and good vibes
baldie is also trying to cope about AGI but yann's whole point is AGI is a dumb term and by perpetuating these dumb fuck ideas we hinder real progress in models that work more akin to how the brain processes information
everybody's chasing a thing that doesn't exist with a modality that is impossible to achieve the thing they really want. cat-like intelligence would be generous in describing these AI grifters, and their models will never even achieve that much
OP should probably kill himself, it's the sensible thing to do

So it should be included in a base install. There shouldn't be any kind of base install that doesn't have whatever is needed for the package manager to connect to the repos.
>>
>>107638748
slackware is not known for automation.

there are package categories that can be blacklisted to make a minimal installation.

A - The base system. Contains enough software to get up and running and have a text editor and basic communications programs.
AP - Various applications that do not require the X Window System.
D - Program development tools. Compilers, debuggers, interpreters, and man pages. It's all here.
E - GNU Emacs. Yes, Emacs is so big it requires its own series.
F - FAQs, HOWTOs, and other miscellaneous documentation.
GNOME - The GNOME desktop environment.
K - The source code for the Linux kernel.
KDE - The K Desktop Environment. An X environment which shares a lot of look-and-feel features with the MacOS and Windows. The Qt widget library is also in this series, as KDE requires it to function.
KDEI - Language support for the K Desktop Environment.
L - System libraries.

>>107638748
also, use ldd to track down required libraries.
take note of them and search for them with slackpkg file-search

automate everything with xargs or something.
>>
>>107638951
Yes, I've installed it maybe a dozen times. I think that time was A, AP, E, L, N, X, or very close to that. The Perl it needed for an actually legit base system that can connect to the repos was in D I think. Any base system that can't connect to its own repos isn't actually a base system though. All of those things I installed should have been more than enough to build from, but you can't build if you can't connect to the repos and start installing individually desired packages.
>>
>>107638999
checked.

if anything i'd love it if they made a few more categories to make possible a finer selection.
stuff like N , L and AP could probably be split even more and A could be better.
anyway the categories are probably some artifact from when it was bundled on cds or floppies

What in the world?
You buy a new stripe for 10 bucks on aliexpress and it's changed in 30min. Sure, you have to remove the panel, but that is barely an issue.
You can pay an electrician to do it for a proper wage with taxes and it will still be worth it.

I don't know why but I like this a lot. It's looks more "home" lab than a homelab with a server rack. It's really cool to see people build a custom rack with wood or whatever they have available. I don't have space for a server rack in my room plus I think they're ugly. I settled with tower cases instead but at one point I was contemplating building a wooden shelf if I get server cases.
