Would you live inside Wine Desktop? Would it be insane to turn Wine into a DE for Linux like Windows 3.1 originally was for DOS? I would use the shit out of this.

yaml is not markup. markdown is markup. latex is markup. json is not markup. html is markup. xml is not markup.
a markup language needs to have the plain text be the primary citizen.

despite you having attached a gigachad image, gnu and lame is really short for x is not (just) y. and yaml is just not altogether

/g/ "prefers" Affinity + Davinci Resolve
>>
>>107847334
I've never used Affinity, but I have tried other RAW editors and none have done what I needed to do as easily as Lightroom does.
>>
>>107847467
everything becomes easier once you learn how to do it with the tools at your disposal
>>
>>107847525
I used DarkTable and RAWTherapee before using Lightroom, though. Lightroom was the first piece of software that felt like it functioned as it should.

>I needed to do as easily
instead of
>I needed to do
and
>felt like it functioned as it should.
instead of
>it functioned as it should
these qualifiers man, it SOUNDS LIKE other software can do what you want it to, but instead of optimizing those work flows, learning those shortcuts, trying software after it updates and may have a better experience than you recall, you've just gave up on them.
Affinity and Davinci Resolve both aren't open source, they are both free to use.

I'm a broke Brazilian university student. I need money for absolutely everything, and the economy is terrible. I had the brilliant idea of taking out a loan in my mother's name. The name remains active for this and I would be able to get the loan if it weren't for the easy verification. What to do?

The security of email is inherently bad. If you need private communication, you probably want Signal or something similar.

But if you must use email and Google isn't your adversary, Gmail is actually a great option. You're right that account recovery could be a problem, but Google is excellent at security and Gmail makes you look normal to network monitors. Whichever service you use, you can make email security less awful by learning how to use a mail client and GPG:

No no I love Megacorp! YouTube da shit!
Secure comms lesson: the only Iranian dissidents alive today used Tor. Or a burner amirite??

This is the thread that captured my attention, a goodie: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=45798827

The fear I have is getting locked out of my google account for whatever reason. Would rather entirely control my public interface to society. Hesitant to do reputation dance wrt email tho which is why this method seems promising:
1. Buy your own domain and point MX to a real email provider.
2. If provider stops working, repoint MX somewhere else
3. Thus you always retain control of a particular email address

I guess the downside is that you’ll have to defend the domain? Does it always have to boil down to trust and faith ;~;

For the domain though can put registrar lock, registry lock, alerting on the WHOIS, but yeah uncertain how secure that is for a random broke schlub? But it kinda means that there’s a reachable admin who can potentially fuck you over, but also help you out.

I'd say we're honestly pretty close, there have been test implants that have successfully had people control robotic arms and legs through pure thought as if they were their own limbs. It's a little surprising China haven't tried it already but then again, maybe they have, they do a lot of weird shit in secret.

I'll have to try that next time. I should have specified youtube videos. Like the other anon said, mpv seems to work fine, but trying to watch youtube videos through firefox either lagged to hell or even locked the computer up. And since I watch youtube while playing games on the other monitor, I had to choose between using the nouveau driver and having smooth youtube but stuttery gaming, or stuttery youtube and smooth gaming with the nvidia driver.

War Thunder has a really good native version. Feels the same as playing it on Windows. Only has an issue with the camera controls when spectatating (Mouse gets stuck on the edge of the screen so you can't rotate the camera fully. For a workaround I just hold alt and move the mouse over to give it more space to move again)

>>107847428
There's two editions these days which is a little confusing, but basically it means the most supported "official" install. It's where most users are and they get the most support and polish. There used to just be Workstation but the KDE spin was promoted to the level of an official edition because it had so much momentum behind it.
Fedora Workstation comes with Gnome and KDE Plasma edition comes with KDE. Gnome and KDE Plasma are desktop environments and determine what all your menus will look and act like. I would google both to see how they look. If you're coming from Windows KDE is the closest thing, it's extremely similar to Windows 10 out of the box.
Spins are Fedora installs with different desktops and they might come with their own tweaks under the hood. Don't worry about these for the most part unless you're into distrohopping and want to play around with a bunch of lesser known or used desktops.
I'm not getting into Atomic that's a whole bag of apples, and labs are for people with specific jobs doing very specific work.

My boss gave me an IBM 01EJ598 (1.92TB enterprise SAS 12Gb/s read-intensive SSD in the full Storwize V5000 hot-swap tray) for free because they were decommissioning old storage gear.
Can I get some use out of it for shit like hosting movies / seeding or it's basically a fancy paperweight?
t. only have a have a normal consumer desktop. I don't have a server, SAS controller, etc, etc... that is apparently required to run this.

Few years at the absolute most
AI is hemorrhaging money right now, so my guess is they'll just start injecting ads into the prompts
So that when you ask for, say, a movie recommendation, it won't respond "a, b, and c are currently trending with high reviews" but instead vomit out a Netflix or Amazon Prime ad and shill their newest releases

I guess I have MW4 to thank for my fondness for the number pad. I had never played a game with controls that complicated, and when Dad first got the game installed, I was furious when I began the tutorial. It seemed impossible. I was used to just arrow keys to move, and space bar to shoot. Dad did the tutorial for a minute or so, and showed me how to play. Game became my obsession for years. I still hum the soundtrack. And I still like numpads.
