BFGPU bros... how are you holding up? Think we'll make it another 5 years? How is reliability?
>>
>>107859250
>4090 is literally *TWICE* as fast
imagine buying a 3090 for the overinflated GPU prices of that period and exactly two years latter when GPU prices had settled down too the 4090 releases
>>
>>107859250
I hope the 60 series does NOT come out this year. I don't have much money left. If the card comes out this year, I won't be able to afford it and be forever priced out of being able to buy one. I have 2 3090s, that's how I'm holding up. I couldn't imagine just having 1.

>>107859311
I bought both of mine used for $600 & $700. I have 48gb vram, you only have 24. Your speed doesn't matter when it can't load and run 70b models like I can.
>>
>>107859250
i barely use it and its in my sub pc
still works fine and it can run at 480W all day long since i repadded and repasted it last year
>>
>>107859353
I have a 3090 too, bought last year for 550€ as a dedicated AI card.
I was talking about actual 3090 fags who got one before 40 was launched.
>>
>>107859364
At launch? Yeah I feel bad for them too, but at that time it was a good deal since the 20 series dumpster fire. People that bought the 20 series are the ones that got fucked the most in recent gpu history. Completely forgettable. I just now remembered that there was a crypto bullrun before the 40 series came out, so there was a time where the 3090 was like almost $3000. The bullrun ended and it came down to like $500 a week before the 4090 launched.

so after almost half a decade of generative AI. investing billions in it. we got:

- expensive hardware
- content farms getting the steam engine and automating slop videos on youtube and social media
- soulless "art" that no one cares about
- boomercide of fake AI content on facebook
- more bot farms on twitter
- codemonkey peasants getting the tractor so they can produce even worse code.
- scam AI startups that rugpull and shut down after 2 months

not a single penny of profit generated

>Generating concept art and sound
Concept art is already extremely cheap in the grand scheme of producing games and movies so it won't have much of an effect on the industry financially.
Some of the most visually iconic games are remembered for the strong influence the concept artist had on the direction (see Half Life for example). I don't see how cheaping out on artists here is gonna improve games or films when one of the main issues of generative AI is producing things that are novel and I can only see it increasing the trend of corporate bland safe visuals.
Maybe the idea is that you don't have to develop the craftsmanship to allow more people to become concept artists, but I've yet to see any emerging slop artists that inspired us.
I also doubt you'll see this as a career path when you cannot work on your craft to secure your position to stay valuable. It seems more likely if it is used the concept artist gets cut out entirely and you have some amateur or the director himself using the generation. If they expect current artists to adopt the tools it's gonna increase the production speed so much and devalue their work so much they have no choice but to become indistinguishable from an amateur slop generator.
There's actually a somewhat related issue in the music industry with directors and music scores. There's a trend of bland orchestral scores because a lot of directors task musicians to ape Hans Zimmerman's sound instead of giving them enough freedom to come up with something memorable themselves.

ive seen guys asking ai for product recomendation, and they really think that AI is recommending something good to them, not just repeat random product page shill or reddit comment. I see ads working like that: it will shill you things that someone paid to be shilled

>>107859185
concept art in early stage of game dev or movie dev is just bunch of pencil, digital sketches done in few minutes each, only best ones goes into full painting that end up in art books or as a loading screen inside finished product (sometimes art directors will share that early work on his socials and usually it looks like things done by retarded kids in school on piece of paper or ipad but you can see how that early stage concept art shaped entire project into something good), automating that shit is insult for your entire project and like maybe few jobs lost, zero impact on overall budget or production time
>>
>>107857814
My use case is content aware fill to retouch photos and get rid of cables, trash etc. and extend the sky if I want to use a landscape photo in portrait mode.
You could do a lot with the old techniques of cloning and brushes, but it takes more time for a worse result.
>>
>>107858965
The problem with your worldview is that you think it will automate Y but not automate X that makes automating Y pointless. It’s like talking about the future of smithing in 19th century being robotic hand helper that cleans your anvil and holds your metal item while you smack it with hammer, without realising that automated hammer or just full on metal casting on a conveyer belt are going to happen faster then robotic hands that hold your metal chunk, or that the job of a blacksmith is gonna be relevant.

oh i'm sorry, i assumed you're aware of what you're mocking in your shitpost and aren't just desperately trying to fit in by cluelessly spewing memes

What is the point of VPN?

Yes, you hide your IP address but you can't hide the fact that you are hiding your IP address because your new VPN IP address is already known as a datacenter IP address and you'll get automatically treated as a bot everywhere.

Also, using a VPN requires you to install that VPN company's client software on your PC which can be considered as a privacy problem on its own.

To bypass arbitrary website blocks that may exist in certain countries, get access to more info, buy stuff, get a slightly higher level of privacy. Paying extra for a dedicated IP won't get you treated as a bot. Mullvad only provides shared dynamic IP's but that'd still be sufficient to bypass website blocks.

I can't help but feel 99% of the people that DO use them are sad sacks trying to grift onn youtube and think they need to overedit video in 4K because somehow they will get likes and subscibes if people can see their zits more easily and becaus ethey are retarded and are basically tech illiterates they just buy thing that is expensive becaus eother retards on youtube said so.

I fucking hate IT work now but I actually had a recuiter call me last week truing to hardsell me some cunty contract and you know what it was? Some 1000+ staffed company that wanted to get rid of office 365 and go back to office 2010 via RDS becaus etheir CEO had thrown a rage fit and fired their admin because all their excel and SQL garbage had stopped working again.

You say you don't care about playing new games on high settings and I'm happy for you but pretending that you don't understand why other people would just makes you look like an idiot. If you're content playing 10 year old games and have no use for high end hardware then that's fine but writing multiple novels of pure seethe in this thread over the choices other people make is bizarre.

I'm sorry you've lost the ability to find enjoyment in new things.

Yes, some redditors have gotten it to work on 16GB too. There is a --reserve-vram flag you need to set in comfyUI to stop getting OOM errors. From what i can tell it eats up a lot of regular RAM though, so you can consider 64GB the minimum. Another win for paranoid preppers with PTSD from Covid who stocked up and didn't listen to "what do you need it for" threads.

>I'm on Linux with AMD so I can't do it

Linux is exactly the OS where you can do it with AMD. But the trick is to have a card with proper support in ROCM, meaning workstation cards or ones with workstation equivalents like the 7900XTX. 6800XT for example isn't listed officially but it still works because the W6800 is supported, which also falls under "gfx1030". There's a compatibility list here:

I like using Office 2019 instead of the current 365slop.
But when I installed it on my new computer, I learned that the ability to adjust a picture's transparency was taken away from all older Office products and is now only available in Office 365 (as an incentive to make you upgrade or something).
Even if I download and roll back to a build from before this was changed and picture transparency was taken away, the feature still won't show up in the picture format options.

I'm on Windows 10, with a computer that's just a few months old. I have updates turned off.

My old laptop that I stopped updating in 2020 still has the picture transparency option in Office 2019.
My mom's new computer on Windows 11, which gets constant updates, apparently still has the picture transparency option in Office 2024.
But I somehow can't get it to work on my new computer no matter how many different builds I try.

Please god someone help me get picture transparency back.
It can even be in a different version of Office, I don't care, just as long as it's not the current "product as a service" one.

i don't understand why these people love claude code so much, i think codex is way more useful, much more token efficient

Just make the game render as interlaced scan instead of progressive.

This will double the framerate, and reduce the pixels of each rame by half.

Then all you have to do is use AI and both fields to generate a higher resolution full progressive frame.
This will double whatever DLSS has to offer.

No need to pay me, I'm working for free because the market needs a balance.
