Any version of Windows since 1995 has been more polished, production-ready and user-friendly than any Linux distro ever made. That's obvious to anybody who has installed both of them on the same machine.

Are Linux users just lying about their distros being a better experience than a Windows installation?

still buggy
Both KDE and GNOME are going to get BTFO by Google's Linux desktop OS next year.

>No, no it doesn't, you just haven't used it long enough or did enough with your PC to notice. Give it time friend, you'll be doing something important and it'll shit itself in confusion. You'll either go back to Windows or buy a Mac mini.
I've used both Windows and Linux for about 15 years now, give or take. I can honestly say that my Windows 11 box (no, 10 LTSC is not an option for me) gives me more trouble than my Linux machines by orders of magnitude. In the Windows 7 years this would be a laughable thought, but Microsoft made it a reality, and we have no reason to believe that things will not get much, much worse with Windows 12+.
Windows "just werks" if all you do is play Steam games, but I don't even need Windows for that anymore.

Do you like any simple scenario and seeing how it goes?
>>

>use simple assistant prompt
>tell it to write a story about x and y, describe paragraph structure and story arch

Works pretty well. I used to have elaborate prompts (still do of course) and stuff but this is more spontaneous and fun perhaps.

both are probably a waste of money, depending on ram prices at your location and what youre planning on running, maybe first research what you could run on 128gb ram? and at what speeds? and try the models via api first?

There is no bad (major) distro. OpenSUSE has it's place, same as Arch, Fedora, Debian, Ubuntu, etc. It's certainly not as popular as it once was in terms of marketshare, but it offers a solid KDE experience and the last time I used it, I liked YaST.
>>
>>107689921
it's nice
>>
It's whatever really
YaST lets you install a lot of packages on the installation process
It's also "bloated" in the sense that if you don't untick a box it will install a lot of recommended packages
It sets up btrfs+snapshots by default with a sane subvolume layout, something CachyOS does now
From what I can remember they forgot about a few DEs, for a while you couldn't have up to date Cinnamon at least
Codecs are not installed but it's even easier than Fedora there
Occasionally, TW is more up to date than Arch (used to happen a lot with GNOME/GTK packages, but a current example is Darktable, 5.4 is stuck on testing repos on Arch, but it's already accessible on TW)
That all said, some of the default applications and fixes are really old shit nobody needs, I found it awful to install nvidia drivers on it, opi is garbage and openSUSE may label you as rotten flesh if you think differently from them, that was a thing too

The 'man behind the curtain' in A.I. is always a billionaire who just doesn't want to pay wagies anymore.

All other disruptive technologies have brought some common good forth, and A.I. is an outlier in that regard. Nobody wants it, it improves on nothing already being made, and is being completely jammed down on the huddled masses for the sole pursuit of greater profits. I think it's a winnable fight because the benefit is so narrowly limited, but we shall see in the years ahead.
>>
I wonder if anti-AI fags are delusional enough to believe that bitching and whining non-stop will make people actually stop using a new convenient technology

Samsung tab s9.
very much so. for manga it's perfect, for drawing it's great, for rhythm games it's also great. the tab s9 is also snapdragon so it's better in some ways than the S10 and s11. if the s12 is snapdragon I'd recommend that, but for now - s9

The thing on top knocked over is a pi 4 with a PoE hat. I want each of the Lenovos to have a few pi 4s to mess around with SLURM - so ideally I'd start with 2 thinkcentres with 2 pi4s each and do kind of a 2-tier distributed or parallel-distributed thing going on.
My issue is probably that I haven't set up a DHCP server on one and am retarded but I'm also running into the issue that I'm not using a wired internet connection - I'm going off my parent's wifi.
Basically I'm retarded but where there is a will there is a way.

Set a static ip on all of the ports make it 10.0.0.0, or 192.168.1.0. Whichever one your main network isn't. They should be able to communicate if you set them up on the same network like that. I've only done it with two computers, but I don't see why it wouldn't work with more computers and a switch.

How do we stop AI slop from increasing the price of RAM?
>>
It's bizarre that Americans are okay with footing the bill for this buildout that's mostly going to be used by a bunch of bored thirdies to flood the internet with slop.

When do you decide to buy a new laptop if you know the next year there will be a better one and the year afterwards an even better one? Why don't you wait next year for the better models? When do you put the cutout?
When do you decide that "okay, the model this year is the one I'm buying and I will totally not regret my decision when newer models are released." Because it never ends.

If I need a new laptop I buy one then.
If I'm sitting around thinking "but next year there will be a better one" then that means my current laptop is fine for at least another year and I don't nees to buy a new one now.
>>
>>107690007
Buy a laptop when there's a meaningful improvement. The people who bought M1 Macbooks, for example, didn't regret it.

Update only when you need to. If your laptop does everything you need, keep using it.

Buy a new laptop when:
>your old one is broken
>your old one is not fast enough for your current computer needs
and if you are a consoomer
>the new model represents a big spec (e.g. big jump in CPU performance) upgrade compared to last year's model
