So this was me, the keyboard arrived today. I don't remember if I've mentioned it, but I realized that the gray one has legend on the side, so I did end up ordering keycaps too (https://aliexpress.com/item/1005005012839233.html the 168-HHB option).
I haven't lubed the switches yet, I thought I'll check out how it sounds before trying. The spacebar is indeed somewhat louder than I'd like, but I don't know how much it'd help anyway. I might get around to it one day.
The keyboard overall feels nice and sturdy and is much, much more quiet than the k120 I've been using, so it already feels like a significant upgrade.
I have a couple gripes with it already, unfortunately.
I can't find an option to turn the screen on, the closest is uploading a black image for the gif, but it's still lit, since it's LCD. Maybe I should just cover it with black tape.
The lock buttons don't just turn on the diode, but also light up the button, despite having overall all rgb options turned off. For now, I just rebound the normal digits to the num buttons, so I can use them without the num lock, but it might have some drawbacks (it won't auto adjust the decimal char, which matters a bit in my case, and shift will affect some buttons).
I wonder if I had gone with keychron in the end, whether that'd feel different, but what's done is done.
>>
>>106538279
Funny thing is both of these gripes are why we don't tend to recommend non-QMK keyboards. But unfortunately if you want QMK your options are often "Keychron or spend more money", and my memory is that money was limited here.

The spacebar making noise is either because the stabs are hitting the PCB, in which case you may want to try sticking a soft material under them to 'silence' them (e.g. bandaid mod or one of the "stabilizer pads" sold by some keyboard vendors), or it might be caused by the wire rattling, in which case you need to add more lube. Stabilizers are a never-ending nightmare for silent builds because they're 100x harder to ignore when they're not perfect.

It won't , but it also won't have the bugs/issues, and will work with everything. Paying the nvidia tax makes sense if you actually value your time, I would recommend an amd alternative over nvidia because compatibility is ok, better prices usually and you can usually get shit to work, but it doesn't look like anything from them exists yet in the same formfactor.
>>
>>106538096
This argument no longer applies with Vulkan backends existing now. Paying 5x is no longer a worthwhile "Tax"
>>
>>106538158
it won't be 5x the price, maybe double. this is still low end. the a2000 goes for ~$600-650, if you're not extremely poor this isn't a big issue.
>>
>>106538158
>>106538308
The specs of the rtx pro 2000 blackwell put it close to the rtx ada 4000,

https://www.phoronix.com/review/intel-arc-pro-b50-linux/5
and if we look here , the ada 4000 is alot faster than the b50 in many areas, so if it comes in at 600-$700 that would be only a little more expensive perf/$ vs the b50. gonna depend on your workload whether its worth it.

I remember reading the kali linux documentation. Almost all password retrieval tools are designed for windows. It's much harder for linux.
Though once you retrieve the actual hashed file then the source OS doesn't matter, mac, linux and windows are the same after that point.

Reminder that SIM card slots are what's keeping phones from being thinner.
Every brand will copy the iphone air's paper thin design now that apple did it first, SIM cards are now a dated technology that will be swiftly removed like 3.5mm headphone jacks and microSD card slots, forcing you to use budget $300 phones forever if you want to keep using your dinosaur standards.

I hope you're not thinking of switching mobile carriers or even roaming with different SIMs either because eSIMs unlock a whole new profit stream for carriers since you now need their permission to connect your device to their networks.

Waiting for someone to answer this.
Used an eSIM for the first time this year while travelling to Korea. Was pretty neat to have 5GB of data for 10 bucks immediately available from the moment the plane touched the ground.
>>
>>106537332
>Reminder that SIM card slots are what's keeping phones from being thinner
the thickest part of the phone continues to be the camera lens.
>>
>>106537714
>travel to another country where roaming is expensive
>buy SIM at the airport, have local number to call people and receive calls
You can't do this with an eSIM.

Also:
>have old SIM, put it in once a month to check for missed calls and SMS

You learn c++ as you go. Unless you need the absolute basics: variables, loops, etc.

Learning c++ through a game engine is a iffy slope though as you’re learning more of the engine than the language.

Who amongst you actually subscribes to OF accounts? I've never met a single man who admits to it in real life but some of these women are supposedly millionaires.

at the height of my usage (2022ish) I was subbed to 40+ accounts but most were free or free month trials and never paid more than $5-$10 to sub for a month. the pay pigs are all old men running up their visas/draining 401k/IRA or horny oil baron sons with bottomless trust funds etc. occasionally you get a single no kids tradie that pulled in a nice paycheck from the oilfields and blows it all on a single OF girl instead of just going nuts in Vegas for a weekend.

Their growth has been flat, incomes have been static. The recent inflation has made them poorer. The industrial base has hollowed out with most of the production going to China, or SE Asia. They've got an aging population that needs to be looked after and paid for by a small workforce. We've seen long term bond yields on Japanese goverment debt reach the highest reach all time highs. They need to cut spending and raise taxes. They're fucked.
