all these threads are projections of aspiring "ai" artists who know their toys are not catching on and simply rely on artist vitriol from 3 years ago for schadenfreude
nobody likes ai art, the best reaction you will get is indifference, no one will ever tell you good job, because you did nothing
this is art from eu5, which is one of the best applications of ai art because historical attire is very generic, and they still chose a human artist

>government implented new law that will go into effect in January

Now I have to reinstall Fedora and encrypt the disk, is there really no way to encrypt it post install?

Two questions:

>1)
I want to use LTS but not until 26.04. Until then I want to use 'rolling', 25.10. The reason is I have a laptop and want to use smart charging (cap at 80%). LTS won't have this feature until 26.04, but it's already in 25.x.
So, is it possible to use 25.10 until 26.04, and then when I get there to 'change lanes' and hop over to the LTS lane from the 6-monthly lane?

>2)
I see a lot of people advocating for clean installs every major version, no matter the distro. I don't want to do that, I want to install once and then smoothly upgrade from version to version. Which Ubuntu lane is the best for that? I.e. which lane has the safest most reliable in-place upgrades, the least likely to bork itself in the process;
6-monthly (26.04 -> 26.10 -> 27.04 -> 27.10 -> 28.04 etc)?
Or LTS (26.04 -> 28.04 -> 30.04 etc)?

Yes, you can continuously upgrade ubuntu through every version available, although it's not recommended since it's not really well implemented, the best thing you can do is to use 25.10 until 26 releases and do a clean install, and then stay on the 26.04 version until 28.04.
>I want to install once and then smoothly upgrade from version to version
I'd recommend debian or lmde without extra repos to achieve this, I installed lmde in my parents' laptop like 6 years ago and it continuously kept itself updated since then after enabling automatic updates.
If you want an up to date OS that can be continuously upgraded through versions, I'd recommend fedora with gnome, it's probably the best distro for that purpose and a tad more stable than ubuntu, or at least less retarded error prone than it from my personal experience.

I'm stuck between Ubuntu/Gnome versions.

22 doesn't have working thumbnail pickers

24 and 25 removed a folder's Open with... VS Code option, and takes 3 more clicks. I do this enough for it to be annoying.

25.10 doesn't work with tiling shell and the default tiling is frustrating to use.

25.10 doesn't work well with wine (because of no x11?)

I might actually return to 22.

And I don't want to fuck around with different DEs because I'll find a bunch of other devils that are likely worse.

Actually fonts have a lot of science that go into them, they're quire incredible.

Berkely Mono - Amazing (Pay to win)
Consolas - Best(Free)
Verdana - Best(Free)

Edges are easier to perceive to humans, so fonts are designed with this in mind.

Fonts actually store the method that was used to draw the character so it can be resized *precisely*.

A regular resize function doesn't work so well.

A lot of tech and science goes into these.

They set whatever AIB overclock the 5070 Ti had to the nVidia spec for the testing to make the card match the unit they used for testing during their day 1 review. I don't see anything wrong with that? They did not make the 5070 Ti run any slower than what nVidia sets the chip to run at.

Guys.
I made it.
I bought a T430s.

Now, I have an issue. The keyboard is flappy in the lower corners, as if it isn't seated properly. As a result, the Fn and arrow keys are literally a mil or less in the air. Should I take it apart and reseat it? I mean, either way I'm going to change it, since it's got the French layout of all things.
>>
>>106974439
Some kind of electrical or thermal insulation, maybe?
>>
>>106976236
Yes and you will want to replace the touchpad with the t440s touchpad while you're at it. I have the same thinkpad and after doing this my life was greatly improved. I also broke my original keyboard and got an aftermarket one that works but doesn't fit quite properly so it looks a little off but works fine.

Linus, Brodie and all other onions redditors are completely in the wrong, as usual.
When you have high IQ talented people, like Elon Musk, Drew Devault, or, indeed, Kent Overstreet, who want to move fast, you LET them develop at their own pace. You don't cripple them just to appease low performers

That is the problem with the Linux kernel, everything moves at the speed of the weakest (slowest) chain, and Linus is too dumb to understand that those slowest chains are the problem, not the excellent programmers like Kent Overstreet who are just leagues ahead in terms of IQ.
Linus not understanding this is why Linux is still subpar to proprietary on many fronts, despite massive funding and corporate involvement.

BTW, Kent Overstreet is the author of BCacheFS, currently the most advanced filesystem for GNU/Linux.

>NT is definitely going to be the primary development platform for our next project, but I will be evaluating alternatives for a possible transition after that. The contenders will be linux and MacOS X.

I added a third node to get quorum. My setup is now 2x14700K/128GB with one 3060 for Plex transcoding and the other server is running some LXC containers. Third is a PN53 with a ryzen 7, 32GB and 2TB SSD. I have way too much gear for my skill level but if I'm honest with your bros with chatGPT I've built quite a homeserver cluster for myself. If only I had more time for this.

Currently on the main performance node I'm replacing my old server slowly by a more better organized and isolated bunch of services. The old spaghetti code works, but it's not maintainable. New one is done entirely OOP and everything is properly running in containers. I haven't written a single line of code, I've been letting Codex do it. I realised that I don't even like to code, I like to dictate more. I like to plan and figure out how things should work but I am not interested one bit in how they are working, unless that becomes a problem, like it did with my old server.

Codex has changed my life. With good guidance, and it really needs some good knowledge of where GPT5 has its limits, it's another world of advanced. I think I'm spending about 10 times less time on development because I can make it write tests for me and I can just observe the tests make sense. All the tedious shit is no longer a problem. At work if only they knew how much is vibe coded... Well, it's better if they don't.

Fuck no, at least not actively consuming content. If you're producing content, post it then leave. Social media hijacks your dopamine with endless variable-reward scrolls.
