Never buy Linsoul owned brands. They're no better than KZ stuff, even if they cost $500. Don't buy Penon either.

What to buy? Aful, Fiio, Letshuoer, KZ.

$100 is the sweet spot. Anything more and you're either overpaying or getting something worse than a $100 iem (something worse pretending to be good). Anything less and you get compromises on build quality, cable and accessories.

if you cut off your legs in order to justify using a wheelchair, you've effectively crippled yourself for no valid reason.
they didn't need to cripple themselves by becoming dependent on architecture that they needn't be, but being the retarded geniuses, they did.
part of the standard of ye' olde linux was in making the adopted medium to change in order to be assymilated, but instead nulinux is the one that changed, becoming an abomination.

i will never forgive ubuntu and all the other shitty distros for adopting bad coding and architecture engineering designs, just to appease the tranny coders.

My current Emacs config was made using the https://emacs.amodernist.com/ website. I mean, it works okay, but it feels boring and bland.
What packages or configurations you guys use? I don't care about bloat, my computer can handle even shit like JetBrains with ease, some packages for Emacs won't be a problem.

>>
>>106978075
ive been really interested in meow. why the change to doom?

ITT discussions and evidence of the enshittification of technology.
The obvious example of yesterday's AWS outage is very in your face but I feel the normies have no idea things are getting worse until the AI (actually Indians) accidentally push some bad DNS configs and fuck up every service on the East coast.
But if they only knew about the things quietly breaking and getting worse over time.
Recently I've noticed Google maps giving increasingly braindead navigation instructions. Following them adds 10 minutes to the time estimate. Ignoring them and just taking the interstate has me arrive 5 minutes earlier.
A 15 minute differential on a 30 minute commute is wild. How bad do things need to get before they stop outsourcing literally everything?

RAID isn't a backup. This is in no way reliable as a backup, there's no guarantee that multiple vital sectors won't go down at the same time. Sure, it's a "backup", but that's like counting on your airbag to save you in a 90mph crash, good luck
>>
>>106977003
please enlighten me on the functionality of raid then. Is it not to spread out data amongst multiple disks? You know, one might say that is a BACKUP of those disks? If one disk dies, the others can serve as a BACKUP?

>>106978222
>This is in no way reliable as a backup
that's literally what I said
>there's no guarantee that multiple vital sectors won't go down at the same time
there's also no guarantee that ANY backup is going to work. hard drives die or corrupt data all the time. that's why the 3-2-1 rule is so important.

>x61 for 70 bucks
If you care about installing a free firmware, I've seen x60 motherboards (assuming the model is an x61 and not an x61s) sell for ~$20.
>I’m rather new to vintage computing
>I just want to use it for light browsing and YouTube
Do yourself a favor and just stick with your T480. I have an x60, and although I used to use it as my main shitposting toaster back then, it's really nothing more than a novelty these days--the 4:3 aspect ratio is cool, except when it isn't. YouTube is slow as fuck and the screen to honestly too small sometimes.

If you're dead-set on buying e-waste, you'll need to install an SSD and upgrade the wifi card so that it doesn't cook your balls. The CCFL backlight might be dim too, so you'll probably want to replace that and the TN panel with that of an x61t.

Just stick with your T480 and libreboot it. It's not entirely functional yet, so be wary. Most people would recommend you buy an X230 instead, but a T480 is good for longevity I think.
>>106974355
See above. Also, I don't remember if it was the T60 or T61 that has the dGPU, but it shits itself pretty often.

Prices have already risen and they do not drop any more. As you can see year long waits are expected for 30TB+ HDDs.

The same applies to RAM and SSDs too, OpenAI plans to buy 40% of all NAND in the world next year, going directly to SK Hynix and Samsung, purchasing the wafers themselves before they are even turned into chips, other AI companies will snap up the rest, there will be nothing left for end users.

OpenAI's Stargate project has a $500 Billion budget and they plan to spend all of it.
