What the actual fck is going on with FFmpeg? They’re transitioning to Rust, of all languages. Rust! The absolute state of this fcking industry. We used to have a perfectly good C-based project, lean, fast, reliable—hell, that's why we loved it.But now, suddenly, it's being hijacked by a bunch of Rust-obsessed fanboys who think every damn project has to be rewritten in this bloated garbage heap of a language. Yeah, sure, Rust is "safe" and all that, but who the fck asked for that in a tool like FFmpeg? It's a command-line video processing tool, not a fcking safety net for a daycare. We need performance, not a bunch of shiny memory safety nonsense that just makes everything slower and harder to maintain.I can’t believe I’ve spent years working with this, learning all the ins and outs of C and ffmpeg’s API just for it to be thrown away for Rust? This is literally the opposite of what FFmpeg was about. It was lean, mean, and efficient. It wasn’t about wrapping everything in a bunch of unnecessary abstractions and "safety" that just slows the whole f*cking thing down. And don’t get me started on the people behind this decision. Is it some group of Rust fanboys that can’t get their heads out of their asses long enough to see what’s actually important? The FFmpeg community is literally going to lose their minds over this. I’m not even going to start thinking about how this is going to f*ck with existing scripts and workflows. This is the end of FFmpeg as we know it. F*ck this, I’m sticking with my old, stable build. Rust can burn for all I care. Long live C, and RIP FFmpeg.

Everybody's screeching about this or that in Linux enshittification, but this seemed to fly under the radar>Ubuntu 26.04 minimum requirements>6GB RAMIs this the true indicator of end of an era?
>>108497626It's not. Debian is still 512mb minimum. It's probably the desktop or pre-installed apps. Ubuntu is a heavily opinionated bloated fork it's not really representative of Linux as a whole or systemd. Arch, Fedora, and Debian are all systemd and can all be installed with nothing but basic system utilities and boot into a TTY. Ram usage requirements goes up depending on what you install naturally. Rattle your sabres at bloated desktop environments first before blaming an init system.

Why would you even want to use vim and tmux? It's not 1970s any longer.Every action, even a simple select-copy-paste or cut takes 3 times more key presses than any other text editor.Vim is retarded unless you are working over a terminal interface.
>>108486386>JKLIleft-handed WASD (trash)>JKL;least delusional i3 user (I just rebind i3 to use hjkl)iirc the reason vim uses hjkl is because j points down, and k points "up"
>>108496350The reason is because ADM-3A happened to have arrows symbols on those keys. There is literally no other reason.

>>108486386Index- and middlefinger ar stronger than the pinkie. Plus you use j/k far more than h/l. I barely use h/l at all, 'w', 'b', 'e' or 'f' is usually more practical for navigating horizontally within a line.

>>108496728>They only do 480iDid you even read the thread before posting? See >>108484663 >If you're using a super resolution you're not getting true 240p.For the CRT, horizontal resolution doesn't matter. It's as "true" as any other 240p signal, 320x240p, 256x240p, etc. It's the length of the timings in the signal, not the numbers you see on the host side. If you hook up a oscilloscope, the signal is the same. If anything, that's the best quality signal you can get.I think that's where most people get confused.
>>108498219To add to that, the horizontal pulses to the beam get driven straight from the DAC, they are transparent to the CRT.
>>108496728>If you're using a super resolution you're not getting true 240p.this is false, something like 2560x240p is still 240p. crt's in general have no concept of horizontal pixels, only the line count matters. a point filtered 2560px wide picture will look and act identical to say a 320px wide picture
