what part of reduced instruction set you don't understand?

I don't conceptualize floating point as signed. Not in the sense that an integer is signed. Its a totally different thing. Floats are more similar to unsigned that signed ints.

I don't give a fuck what you conceptualize and the CPU doesn't give a fuck either. IEEE 754 floats are always signed.

This is why all these forks of Firefox are memes, they never fully remove all the bloat in Firefox. Better use a browser written from the ground up.

They're not for practical use like that, silly anon. They're for virtue signaling by telling everyone how you'll never use Mozilla again whilst using a browser derived from them, whose only difference is they changed the logo and pre-configured some settings.

That's really fucked up and sad, I mean it's amazing that we will have official Commodore 64s running at 48MHz with all kinds of new mapped storage devices and extra RAM. But it's also sad that this is, probably, the most exciting computer thing to happen since 64 bit became a thing, which in reality didn't actually help anything but large web pages of GARBAGE and lazy multi-absraction gaymes.

I would like to see a new computer with 3D capability, amazing sound including hardware dedicated VST host, etc. and fast sprites. Something that doesn't do the modern web but supports online matching and gaming. And you can do it all in BASIC. Interestingly the new Commodore owner has hatched up a dev lab with a lot of the OG Commodore people, Jay Miner heading it up, where they are going to come up with something next-gen that beats Amiga and Commodore times Atari. Now I might not buy a turbo C64 but I probably would buy whatever they ultimately cook up.

This computer would dominate. Who would buy a Switch? Honestly it should happen and it would slay.

>>107543360
It's a fresh start without the problems of Commodore in its incarnations. But the old hats are also ALL in. They have said the new C64 is just basically, the thing they are going to sell for now to build up money and such and make a NEW computer. Kind of a successor to the Amiga really more than a C65 type machine. The dude said he doesn't want to compete with any of the current going fan made machines which is cool too.
>>
or just buy a cheap ARM SBC and enjoy vastly superior 2D and 3D graphics, superior sound quality (SID chips can easily be emulated), any programming language (including BASIC) you like and it can browse the internet, cheap SD card storage, loads of GPIO/I2C options for hardware tinkering and run any Linux and BSD OS.

Is the genx nostalgia market really big enough to accomplish anything in current year?
>>
>>107543067
From what I'm getting the new C64 is just a linux box with extra fluff so eh? It's no different from Chinkware handhelds running Emulationstation.
And what you described is just pointless because sadly computers don't work like that anymore. Nobody is losing their minds over 3D rendering, spirets and lol BASIC. You're an autistic 40yo guy with no sense of reality and thickest nostalgia google.
>>
>>107544636
>From what I'm getting the new C64 is just a linux box with extra fluff so eh?
That was the OLD new C64. The NEW new C64 is a turbo enhanced "real" one with extra stuff onboard like a RAM drive, direct access from BASIC to the SD card, other stuff.

It's completely different from emulators.

It is not even AI. It is next generation programming brought on by having computing power and resources that once limited to massive dedicated supercomputers. It is triggering the next round next of automation and this time it is menial white collar on the crosshairs instead of menial blue collar labor. The USA and EU had already eroded their blue collar segments via automation but the line must go for shareholders and labor costs are the last pillar to tackle. That's the whole reason why their is a massive push on the private sector or so called "ML/AI".

I've been using a wired Xbox controller since 2015, and although I still enjoy it, the problem is the huge ass cable. It's thick, heavy and gets annoying when jerking it. Should I just get the newest wireless Xbox ones? I heard something about Hall effect triggers but not sure. Price is no point btw.
>>
>>107547304
The wireless xbox controllers can use bluetooth but that adds latency which is observable.
A wireless dongle exists but it overheats easily after two hours of gaming making the controller lose connection.
The best for wireless gaming on pc is to choose from 8bitdo.

Yeah. I already had that on. I think something is just fucked up in its detection somewhere (whether that's Firefox's fault, or KDE's fault, or Mesa's, fault, etc, is difficult to tell) and toggling vsync off and on just "fixed" it by accident.

Probably it will work most of the time but sometimes will accidentally pick up the wrong value and sync to a different display for whatever reason.

I would guess this may be down to me using multiple monitors because say Firefox is partly on one monitor and partly on another monitor (which can happen sometimes) which value is it supposed to sync to?
>>
>>107547362
Ubuntu.
>>107547414
To be honest, idk shit about what Rufus does with the ISO contents. Was assooming heavily when you check something like
>MBR
from the settings it would specifically attempt to create legacy BIOS bootable medium. But sure, having MBR with a FAT32 containing all the relevant files should still boot with UEFI PC.
>>
>>107546549
dd mode worked. I installed XFCE but on login it gives an error message which says:
"GDBus Error:org.freedesktop.PolicyKit1.Error: An authentication agent already exist for the given subject."
I suppose I could just disable XFCE polkit from autostart but I'm not sure if that's the correct solution to the problem.
>>
>>107547439
all i know is that the MBR/GPT selection in Rufus has to match whatever scheme the image is actually built for. i could be wrong, but i think .img files usually include the info, whereas with ISOs you have to guess. or maybe it's up to the tool like Rufus or Gnome Disks to detect it properly.
>>
>>107547453
Well according to that you have two polkit agents trying to run at the same time. Find out which one you have besides the XFCE one and purge it then restart.

Thanks but these don't fit for my use case. I just want to use my windows PC sort of like a NAS where other devices in my house can automatically store or access files from.
