yeah im gonna go ahead and ruin the fun right now and spoil it.... its going to be utter and total dogshit. I saw a bunch of headlines talking about this phone and got excited only to find out its make believe, theres not a single video showcasing how the phone operates. 5k people so far have been scammed right now it seems

Shit OS with 0 software. Literally unusable without Waydroid, at which point you should just stay on Android.

>Its off to a slow start, gotta give it time to develop
It started over a decade ago. After almost 15 years of development (or 9 if you only count while it was out of Canonical's hands) it's only gotten to the point where it's the equivalent to Android 2.x or 3.x, except no relevant developer or phone manufacturer gives a shit about it. So it's advancing at a snails pace while having zero market demand and solving nothing. There's no value proposition in using UBPorts over Graphene, Lineage, eOS, vanilla Android, etc.
>>
>>107549646
>So it's advancing at a snails pace while having zero market demand
Welcome to linux man. Look at how long it took for desktop linux to get good enough where even your tiktok brainrotted zoomer noob can install mint ezpz. And gaming only got good on linux like around 2018
>>
>>107549752
Desktop Linux at least had a significant chunk of popular applications and even professional software on it even as far back as 10-15 years ago. UBPorts currently has worse software support than what Linux had in 2005.
And I just looked at their official Reddit. There's barely any activity there at all and the project doesn't look nearly as promising as desktop Linux was in 2005.

>someone asking about Pixel 2 XL
>dev response: "Your device is not on the list (of supported devices)"
Looking at the list they only support a handful of mostly shit tier and old devices. Desktop Linux was at least installable on thousands of different PCs and laptops over a decade ago and it even comes pre-installed on a variety of products.

>someone mentions how Valve's (and I guess Mint, Bazzite, Zorin, Manjaro, etc.) "Wine as a default for unsupported games" is what propelled desktop Linux to relevancy and says UBPorts should be made to run Android apps out of the box through waydroid
>dev response: "the idea to have waydroid as a standard is not acceptable... it is a twisted way of thinking.", "Ubuntu Touch wants to be an alternative to the android ecosystem and the iOS ecosystem"
They're clearly uninterested in making the OS usable or relevant to anyone other than a handful of autistic software vegans. And they're deluded into thinking developers will make apps for their ecosystem.
SailfishOS at least has a built in Android app support so it's genuinely usable.

>someone donates and orders merch, no info on the package status, says they regret donating to the project
>dev response: "Hello, this is not professionally managed. The work is done by volunteers, even on the merch store."

I've thought about getting used, I could get an RX6600 for less than 200(shipping cost included) bucks if I bought a used/refurbished one, but with my luck I fear I might get a dead card or one that breaks after a few months. Still, a good option to consider now that you mention it. The whole harvesting parts from a PC seems like a hassle though, I doubt I'll do that.

Can't seem to find it anywhere near that price, cheapest is like 280, even the B570 starts at around 240.

If someone came to you in 1995 and said in 2015 everyone would have a little computer in their pocket that's thinner than a pencil and is basically just a very high quality screen tha5t can do everything., With fulll access to the internet, and able to make phone calls to anyone, or video calls to anyone anywhere in the world. And the video quality would be better than the highest end picture photography. And it was 1000x faster than the best computers now. Would you believe them?

Yup. I really like Rust but if I have to write a service that will take some stuff from database and some API and expose it as REST API I'm just going to pick Node and have it done in 1h. This is not a compression utility or http proxy, the app is either idling or waiting for IO 99% of time so the extra 5ms to process a request doesn't matter.
>>
>>107549178
>Rust has no garbage collector.
Rc<> is a garbage collector though. A really shitty one, but a garbage collector nonetheless.
>>
>>107549994
Rc<T> is literally just std::shared_ptr<T> but faster.
>>
>>107550194
yes, we've already established that it's a really shitty garbage collector.
>>
>>107547275
something like 40% of all desktops apps are in electron which is like 1000% worse version of node in typescript. Typescript is just a better C++, you can hate me but im telling the truth.

This faggot wants you to get jabbed, wear the mask, persecute you for not doing the first 2 things, calls everyone who disagrees with him a nazi and implied that voluntary pedophilia doesn't harm children. This is pretty much the definition of a commiepedotroon. And guess what? He is being replaced by even more pushy, obsessed, proud tranny pedophiles like pedovault, and all other nuFOSStrannies. I honestly don't know whats wrong with people who just keep using software made by or associated with those people. I am not saying that every single open source program is made by evil people, but its almost always the case. Exceptions just confirms the rule.

No, I'm a nigger so have to go for the "easiest" solutions. But my "advice" is more general than the immediate needs. If he's got a work machine (which is a machine that he needs to do critical actual /work/ on, regardless of where the computer is located or who owns it) then he likely needs:
DEBIAN
FUCKING
STABLE
which has rare updates that can randomly break things that he needs for his WORK. But in general your point is quite valid!

Change the "u" to "me" in this pic (not going to rename my file just for this one poast).

The configure command says:
> nginx path prefix: "/usr/local/nginx"
> nginx binary file: "/usr/local/nginx/sbin/nginx"
> nginx modules path: "/usr/local/nginx/modules"
> nginx configuration prefix: "/usr/local/nginx/conf"
> nginx configuration file: "/usr/local/nginx/conf/nginx.conf"
"make" and "sudo make install" worked no-problem. Do this:
1. Edit /usr/local/nginx/conf/nginx.conf to be the same as in the GitHub example
2. Comment out the "application mypush { ... }" section; same with sections "application mypull" and "application mystaticpull"
3. $ sudo /usr/local/nginx/sbin/nginx &

Then you get the error
>nginx: [emerg] no "events" section in configuration
I got as far as this step unless I do some other shit.
