>>
>>107557209
Both Linux and FreeBSD use the same OpenZFS implementation. The only difference is that FreeBSD can use it as a full boot environment by default.
>>
>>107557256
I know. But there's a difference between "implementation" in terms of how zfs manages storage and "implementation" as an integral component of the entire operating system. I'm using root-on-ZFS-on-Linux right now and have had to deal with kernel modules not loading, shoddy bootloader ZFS support, disappearing boot entries, initramfs failing to find/include relevant modules, etc etc. The kind of stuff that I don't see happening on FreeBSD or Solaris/illumos, since ZFS gets native treatment there.
>>
>>107557203
this is literally solved by package managers
such a non issue, distributing binaries is a worse way of doing things anyway. And if you do want to distribute binaries just compile static with musl, the linux ABI is stable
>>
>>107557029
Literally no one does that from what I know. It's **technically** possible. Just like it's possible to use musl on BSD. But feasible? That's another question.

i posted this in /pcbg/ then realized i never see much windows tuning stuff here in /fwt/.

talking about RAM, i crapped out my opinion that 32GB is the new minimum, 64 or more better because you can do freaky things like increasing the system file cache, disabling kernel paging and also disable pagefile completely (you can look that last one up yourselves, its easy).

>do tune L2 and L3 caches regardless of how much RAM you have, Windows is always installed with with a generic setup for those.

remember kids - if you do it wrong you can break your system
---------------------
Disable kernel paging - does what it says on the tin. If system is low on RAM - don't do this

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management
Parameter: DisablePagingExecutive
Parameter type: Boolean
Default value: 0

What AC cable does this need?
300W 20V

Giving gaming laptop as a Christmas present but thrown out the old AC cable after it's fuse blown out a few months ago. Wire was fucked.
2 replies omitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>107558494
No. The 15 A refers to the DC output side of the adapter

>300 W ÷ 20 V = 15 A.

On the AC input side, the current is much lower because the voltage is much higher.

>At 230 V (EU):
>300 W ÷ 230 V ≈ 1.3 A

>At 120 V (US):
>300 W ÷ 120 V ≈ 2.5 A

So an IEC C13 cable rated 10 A or 13 A is more than sufficient. You do not need a 15 A input cable.

>>
>>107558510
Sorry I don't know much about the actual AD/DC stuff, is this the same for the UK plugs?

Just so that I understand, does this mean that it'll be able to handle 13A from the wall plug, then it'll convert that to 15A in the transformer and output it into the laptop?

Just want to be extra careful my present isn't a fire hazard.
>>
>>107558510
>10 A or 13 A is more than sufficient.
Isn't giving something that doesn't eat more than three amp the possibility of eating 10A before it pops a fire risk?
I thought that's why you use the lowest rated fuse for load... So the fuse breaks before the device.
>>
>>107558532
>is this the same for the UK plugs?
Power is power. You'll want the 230V math (it's actually 220, but close enough)

The brick does the trransforming, yeah, but I question 13A. It eats less than three, on paper. That's a potential to feed it 10A more than it needs. @220V/10A that's the better part of 2.2KW. That's where things like 'fire' happens.

was Terry A. Davis murdered by a three letter agency?
>>
>>107558191
Terry A. Davis was murdered by a social system that was incapable of providing help to a genuinely ill individual, combined with internet retards feeding his delusion (/g/ was mostly alright but /pol/ treated him like a monkey in a zoo that they would assemble to hear him yell the nigger word and egg him on)

I believe the CIA is responsible for a lot of things but ultimately he survived a very long time as a homeless schizo living in his car. If the glowies really wanted him gone asap they had months of opportunities where "lone schizo dies under mysterious circumstances" would have been both plausible, and easily done off the record since he would drop off the map occasionally when not regularly streaming.

4chan boards have too many pages.

4chan lost over a third of its traffic since 2022, yet the boards are still the same size.
This results in threads taking longer to slide off.
Which also results in a single schizo being able to keep ten threads alive with ease. He can even sleep for 8 hours and his schizo threads will still be there when he wakes up, ready to get bumped.

If you ever felt that 4chan only consists of a few schizos posting the same things 247, this is one of the reasons.
>>
Slower generals like /wdg/ and /dmp/ which are barely hanging on would cease to exist.
>>
>>107556998
If you want to know the result of that you may refer to >>>/gif/, which is to say you will filter the boards to everyone but the schizos/trolls/paid shills/bots that post 24/7

It's almost like half this sites financial problem would be solved kicking the 3DPD porn boards off ( including /b/, since r9k, ic and s4s are the "original" content boards as of 11 years ago and /b/ has been obsolete forever now ) and allocating attention towards boards in dire need of revamping. To restore quality discussion to the catalogs ( and flood out schizos and spammers ) general / eternal threads should be abolished site wide to promote genuine discussion and remove clique culture generals fester. this has been wanted on boards like /sp/ for several years now for example. of course this would mean removing boards like /vg/ and putting those tourists back in their place too.

On /g/ for starters all "desktop" / wallpaper tranny attention whore threads should be banned outright, all non-anglo/european countries IPs should be limited to view only and India should be fully banned from accessing the board/site

Because thats the thing, given enough time every general gets their own schizos that everyone else hates but cant remove since technically theyre not breaking any rules.

I don't know if it's happening right now, or if it is, to what extent. But we should be concerned because current technology makes is so easy to automate such a thing.
