>>107689633Because I don't trust installing random software from 4chan.
>>107689638that is fair lol, it's on steam fwiw so its not really different than installing a game
>>107689674Fair. That increases the trust factor a bit. My next excuse is that I'm lazy and uninterested.
>>107686181Halfway done with a proof-of-concept I'm hoping to fund, but performance with a normal engine was too dogshit to bother showing anyone.Tbf, my performance woes really are gone with vulkan. My other woes, though...
>>107689797im curious, do you have any specific examples of poor optimization with normal engines?
Why are minutes and texts still listed in phone service when everything is data? Why are cellphone networks still a thing and not handled through wireless internet? Why are smartphones still using a different operating system than desktop computers?
idk ive never owned a cell phone
probably because the government has the game in a chokehold and likes the current funnel thru which everything passes is them, so they can pass it off to our #1 ally, for strategic reasons, probably
>>107689573No doubt Google and Apple like the existing arrangement too; 30% cut of all revenue through their "Marketplaces" which are monopolies for Android and iOS. Pretty sure this is what Microsoft was trying to replicate on the desktop with Windows 11. I don't think it's possible to setup a new Android or iOS smartphone without a making a Google/Apple account in the process.
>>107689398I own a cell tower, wanna try ?
>>107689834nah thats okay, thanks though
I remember a time when I had hope for technology. The appification and gig-economofication of even the most basic human interactions is a terrible thing
>>107688342"Horses plow the fields while machines write books." I don't think Orwell knew at the time how accurate Goldstein's musings would turn out to be.
>>107686591It's not hiding if no one is looking but I'm sure you really felt smart for repeating something you saw on plebbit in the wrong context. So enjoy your ill gotten dopamine hit.
>>107681633If it becomes rampant enough we'll just go back to going to pick up food ourselves. Either that or the delivery drivers get replaced by robots.
>>107682995Easier to see what's outside from inside compared to one of those door peep holes. If you need privacy, you can put up shades.
>>107681633Explain why someone would do this when they can just take a picture of the dropped off order and just take the food after?

What's /g/'s opinion on Mental Outlaw? I've been a fan of his for a long long time, he's the one that made me privacy conscious and made me switch to Linux. I remember once reading in one of his comment sections that he was "bullied off /g/" by some guy, is this true? Also, if you're seeing this thread Kenny, hi!

Rob Pike is NOT a fan of AI. Why do I notice the trend that all the good programmers seem to hate AI?
>>107679088Based pneumatic
>>107673108Passionate veteran programmers are not just doing what they do because they like to print symbols on computer screens they are passionate about software and building communities and making meaningful contributions. They possess human souls and have motivations beyond making line go up on a graph or maximize their own gains. It is natural for 4chan to side with the line-go-uppers who are cannibalizing the field because this site has not produced anything of creative value in years and is basically a zombie sustained by reposting shit from other sites.
>>107679001>having a dick touch your body 24/7That's pretty gay desu.
>>107673108>unrecyclabledoesn't exist, everything can be recycled in the end
>>107688442Sure, for a sufficiently retarded definition of recycling. Realistically only some metals can be efficiently recycled. Recycling plastic is a maymay.
Windows 11 could never have a fan base like XP.https://youtube.com/yLxP3V4veJk?si=_h0OewrGN7dvhew6
>>107688040>tfw you get trapped in a failed update chinese fire drill on SP3, because of an obscure registry setting that apparently does nothing with anything except cause this particular update to shit itselfBetter, but let's not pretend even SP3 was all sunshine and roses.
>>107688196In-context today, he's kinda right, because so much security is already just built in invisibly by default that most people don't realize or completely forget it's there.XP didn't even have a firewall. You had to get a third-party solution like zonealarm.
>>107689678OK zoomie
>>107689768Ancient Millennial. The only "hatred" that I can recall was maybe the look or not having the ability to customize it as much as Windows 98. So stop spreading your lies.

How do we fix KDE? I used to donate 100 bucks every December but stopped after Nate started working directly under Valve and de-prioritizing anything Valve doesn't need.
It's been stable for me especially with single monitor or double monitor as long as I keep them on at the same time. Also the biggest issue is that fucking Malit keyboard which stopped my random crashes once disabled. I'm using fedora btw. Also KDE still mogs all of these retard shit distros

Should I just date one of the pajeetas at my company? Apparently that's what like half the white guys in my org have been doing
why are so many programming "help" groups like this? like, somebody will specifically opt into helping people, and then get frustrated when they dont do exactly what they expect. it constantly feels like im testing everyone's patience whenever i ask for help and its even harder trying to just learn everything myself, especially considering all the weird semantic differences in both the language itself and guides.like i can imagine a full script in my head but i wouldnt know how to translate it into the language im currently using. and on the offchance that i *do* get the help needed, usually its just "oh just use the blah function", so its not like i just Dont Know How To Code or anything i just dont know the shit thats specific to the engine, and its not like i can just look it up in a glossary or something because the words can be totally different from language to language, like how "object" in one language can be "entity" in another, and object in *that* language refers to an object in an array or something, so theres just a huge language gap that i cant really cross without the help of others, which sucks because working with others sucks

>>107640288Yeah, unfortunately, they brigade against you if you aren't on their teams, that's why all of the "updoots" sites are a cesspit, they tag team in ways totally against our culture. Our work culture is in shambles because they exploit every workplace rule to eliminate creativity. The results are predictable. Amazon's Kindles lag the Chinese Boox by at least 5 significant features.

>>107689700Oh, well what’s to stop a worker owned company from automating? I could imagine them automating so they have to do less work, then the factory would need less workers to run. Presumably they have a way to fire people, so they just do that a bunch or at least stop hiring new people as people leave or retire, so they can get a bigger slice of the pie. Then boom same issue.
What the heck is an AI Browser and why it's bad?
>>107687972We're currently in a period where everyone throws AI at a wall to see what sticks. They're just trying to find out if there's money to be made by adding AI to whatever they're selling.
