vinyl and cd'sI don't do spotify and have a collection starting from back when it was considered 'normal'Nowadays you can buy used cd's on discogs at very reasonable prices. I buy vinyl when I really like the artist and want a 'collecters item' or just want to support them. They earn more from that than the 0.004$ per stream.

I poc'd tech migration of an app with copilot, and as it has a full codebase to read to know what to write (just tell it to migrate and it can handle itself reading the codebase), it works very well. I could migrate several thousands of lines of some old jquery/php shit to some react + springboot app in just a few hours. It's the only task I found copilot does very well and made me spare a HUGE amount of time (I would probably have spent a couple of weeks full time doing what it did).

>>107635968Instead of declaring it with the __attribute__((weak)), declare it as a regular extern without a definition. This way, the compiler won't be responsible for catching its absence, but the linker will emit an error during the linking phase if no other translation unit provides a definition. When you use __attribute__((weak)), it tells the linker that it's okay if this symbol is missing; the linker will simply resolve it to nullptr. By using a regular extern, you'll force the linker to verify that there's exactly one definition provided for global_fn_dll_config elsewhere in your codebase. If no definition is given, the linker will emit an "undefined reference" error, stopping the build process.

Any version of Windows since 1995 has been more polished, production-ready and user-friendly than any Linux distro ever made. That's obvious to anybody who has installed both of them on the same machine. Are Linux users just lying about their distros being a better experience than a Windows installation?

>>107621970I don't need someone to hold my hand using my computer and honestly given the number of contributors to most of these projects, the level of polish on KDE/Gnome is honestly crazy.Windows causes fatigue. Constant ads, changing my settings randomly, forced updates, AI slop, and everything running like complete shit because of being coded in React by H1Bs.Linux just keeps getting better everyday and it's already pretty good now.
>>107651902Did you run KDE/Gnome. If not that's probably why.
>>107621970Use Windows all you want, but then don't come crying when it eventually blows up in your face.Your choices, your consequences. The release of Windows 10 made me switch back then and I haven't regretted it even once.I had both a Windows 8 and a Windows 10 license through my university, gave them a thorough test drive and figured out, that Windows was over and done.Linux simply works. And unlike Windows it just keeps working.
>Use KDE gayland, everything is slow, low fps, input lag, weird frame pacing that doesnt feel smooth even with a smooth frametime graph in games>Use X11 with Xmonad Tiling window manager, It just werks, everything werks, no latency or input lag>High FPS, gaming just werks and I get 20fps+ more than gayland for some reason and its buttery smooth>Fast with zero bloat, Configure everything to my likingAt this point, I wont even use any desktop environment on linux if it isn't X11. Even XFCE is dead to me because it has wayland support. I will never support anything wayland based on linux.I'm X11 pilled.
>>107653485I never used wayland and have no intention to use it. I'm not going to switch from superior FVWM to that slop. I don't need bloated DE and I don't care about tiling meme. I used i3wm before and I literally never thought it was a useful feature. But FVWM is better because you can actually decorate windows, have powerful window actions features, builtin popup menus. WMs like i3wm has nice configuration, but is barebones in comparison. You can only make "minimalist" theme without actual decorations and the only selling point is tiling. From what I heard the only WMs that target wayland are recreations of such minimal tiling WMs. I have no interest in that. And I have no interest in shitty, bloated GTK/QT DEs. I'm not going to implement my own stacking WM, because there is no point. My WM already does everything I want it to do and it would be a pain in the ass, because wayland design is retarded.
>>107653703Bro, I don't care. Literally the best games I ever played didn't had "realisic graphics". The first two games of Thief, Gothic 1, 2, and 1990-2010 cRPGs. Thief in particular is a perfection of a game, but young gaymers would barf on it, because they need some weird gimmicks in their game. Show me any game made in last 5 years that had such atmosphere and immersion. All I see are games that are made to showcase newest graphics features. There is no foundational aspect in these games that makes the game good.

I only have one of those shitty external optical drives since pc company's stopped being cool and removed them, that should work fine if i have the windows 7 ultimate dvd?2.When updating drivers they all say they wont be compatible, will it just be fine to download them and use them? if not where do I go for stuff like nvidia, amd, and other drivers I need?3. apps like steam and others that say they don't work on windows 7, how do I get them to work? i'm a bit confused on everything.I probably have a few more questions but I can't think of them right now and I have to get to work so I'll only be able to check this thread every now and then, thanks for any of the help

ITT: We post distros used by insecure people who want to use Arch but don't want to get made fun of for using Arch
>>107652465>>107652425I should add "how" they go about it, i.e. their implementation details which define performance and what they choose to do in dependency resolution, especially in default cases, might be worth digging into but I'd say that's more of a niche concern and not worth the level of autism displayed by some on this board, imo
>>107652465Thanks for the screenshot. It could be useful later on.
Arch is only for x86_64 with a shitty repo, the 30 retards in charge of the project can barely do infrastructure maintenance and just pushes everyone to do their jobs instead "because arch is a community". Couldn't even maintain a package signing server, maintainer had to sign with their own computer, until Valve had enough and gave them a server, then Arch went nuts with the "we are collaborating with Valve".>but Arch is not only x86_64Yeah, that's another project not affiliated with the official Arch project.>but Fedora is beta testingPretty much anything released and funded by Red Hat ends up in most distros. You tell me why Arch accepts all of that. Right, Arch just cares about being upstream (which is the real beta testing) and adopt what already works, they don't define new ways to do things, they don't do shit. SystemD, wayland, flatpak, pipewire, podman, btrfs, valkey, atomic distros, shim UEFI bootloader, NetworkManager, firewalld, bootc, toolbox, cockpit, plymouth, and way more, pushing for actual change. Fedora touches a lot of uncomfortable topics because it has to be talked about sooner or later, decisions are made, everyone criticize and once it is demonstrated it works, gets adopted by everyone. Of course they have failures but that is the purpose of the distro (while obeying US Laws, like the Linux Kernel itself). Debian is meant to be a distribution for everyone (ironically it cannot be distributed in North Korea, Syria, Iran and Cuba). Gentoo is meant to give the most customization to their users (which I think is the real Arch, with or without compiling). You like to build your system from the ground up? You can do that with Debian, Fedora, Gentoo, Guix, NixOS, Slackware, openSUSE. Want server image? A running GUI ootb? A minimal image? Other architectures? They got you covered, Arch can't. They don't care, is not the scope of the project and that's fine. But users think Arch is the greatest shit and it's not.
