I did a small research (pics included) and I've noticed there's something strange happening with recent WD hard drives.

For instance let's take a look at this 4TB WD Purple (WD43PURZ), the datasheet says it's CMR but if you look at the graph it behaves like SMR and TRIM is supported.
https://files.catbox.moe/xdudsc.jpg

Same applies to 4TB WD Blue/Red Plus models, all these have 256MB cache and 181 buffer zones (like WD Red EFAX) instead of typical 61 like normal CMR WD drive.
https://files.catbox.moe/htn2k3.jpg

Look at these 4TB drives - they all look like this SMR WD Red EFAX drive.
https://files.catbox.moe/cz46vl.jpg

And 6TB WD drives are also identical to this EFAX drive.
https://files.catbox.moe/nd55ho.jpg

So WD is lying again like they did when they released their first SMR Red. Avoid all 4-6TB models, unless it's enterprise class (Gold, Black, Ultrastar).

So just buy toshiba N300 (nas), X300 (performance), MG11 (enterprise) and im fine? These lines were always CMR.. hope they did not sneaked some SMR or semi SMR shit into them

>Toshiba does not maintain an exhaustive public CMR list, but models not listed under SMR (e.g., N300 series) are confirmed CMR. Enterprise lines like MG series are typically CMR unless specified otherwise.

Just in case let me show you a difference between a pseudo-CMR (modern Purple) and a real CMR (older Red). See these dips in the upper graph? This is a sign of a 2nd layer translator activity which is used in SMR drives, it's static, but still exposes itself during small block writes. The lower graph looks much smoother.

>>106473323

Not sure about toshibas and the fact that the NAS/survelliance category which is designed for performance contains both SMR/CMR (even if they point that out unline WD) is rather concerning. But the MG ones are rock solid, if I'm not mistaken some of them are based on native Hitachi drives (not HGST). Also it's funny to see 512mb cache in some MG drives because in real life it's no different from 8mb cache, it doesn't improve access time or small block write speed.

Another thing that bothers me is that It's just becoming impossible to find a 4-6TB 5400rpm CMR HDD, but oddly there are still decent 1-2TB and 8TB variants and nothing good in between. Back then there were great choices such as WD30-60EFRX, WD30-60PURZ, but for some reason they decided to stop producing such drives and intruduced a new disk family called Venice (that infamous first SMR Red was based on it),

Instead of learning their lesson after getting caught they decided to double down and introduce a new type of advanced SMR hybrid which has special buffer zones that emulate a CMR behavior, a hidden 2nd lvl translator with a static module instead of just making a classic CMR drive. That's why these new 4-6TB WD Red Plus/Purple drives have 256mb cache (Purple even has TRIM), these are not CMR despite what the datasheet says.

Dude, i own atari 2600, and it also run buttery smooth, and by the time, drop frame isn’t even existed. Every hardware build before windows 98 also run full frame, with zero drop frames and buttery smooth. It either run in slow motion or they run normal speed, but never drop a single frame.

People mistake framedrops with slowdowns with frameskipping with stutters.
First console I noticed actual stutters on was the 360. Before that all I had was slowdowns. Today you have Zelda Echoes of Wisdom which, I don't know how there's people out there that can tolerate. We're talking about 30 to 60 back to 30 harsh framerate fluctuations. That's noticeable by just about fucking anyone. I have played a lot of SNES, genesis, PS1, N64 games with slowdowns. Not like this shit.

OP here, yeah that's me. With a broomstick up my ass. You're probably wondering how i got here. Well, its a long story. It started in bootcamp cause the boomers told me to pull myself by the boostraps. So i booted my PC and some German guy came up on the screen with such a thick german accent I could feel the spit coming out of the screen. Something about Boot Loader and Mutexes. It filled me with furious raged I wanted to put a Boot to his face. It was too hard so i went into webdev and had to learn Bootstrap. Then i took a strapon and shoved it up my boot. Boot it wasn't long enough so i grabbed a broom.

How does 4chan deal with the schizo question now that the IP counter has been removed? I'm asking this genuinely because it seems like no one has a clear answer.

A significant amount of engagement on this website comes from a small group of deranged maniacs constantly posting on cooldown every day. The moderators don't seem to have any issue with what is verifiably spam, so they let the schizos run rampant. If said schizos would just use a tripcode, they'd be indistinguishable from namefags, but they go out of their way to pretend they're multiple people when it's obviously one guy.

To add on, interacting with these schizos and trying to have a dialogue with them is pointless. None of them are interested in establishing a motive for their insane behavior and just want to ruin 4chan for everybody. Lots of small generals have their own dedicated schizos, and in some cases (like /v/) it's impossible to comfortably discuss certain topics because the schizo will inevitably barge in and begin spamming nonsense.

I can honestly say I'd be perfectly fine with 4chan being compromised by shills and bots if it meant the schizos would be dealt with. Someone paid to post here is just a useful idiot, and bots are always easy to spot. Schizos are a scourge and present a legitimate existential issue for the future of anonymous imageboards.

Hiro doesn't care. Post quality doesn't matter, it's all about passive ad income.
This is just a pet theory but I personally believe the obfuscation is to let shilling run more rampant and since most users here run adblock (or so I hope) then the best way to advertise is to spam threads and keep bumping them to fake engagement. You see this a lot with /v/ gacha threads that are often "disguised" as generic coom threads. They are the most inorganic shit but always hit bump limit thanks to gets tier posts and the like, but they are allowed to be constantly spammed despite the generals existing.
And for the projecting retards: If you want to play these games and talk about it, go ahead whatever, I don't care. I'm only using them as an example.

>>106473258
Also this, but the problem is that there are a lot of impressionable lurkers who after reading a schizo talking to themselves over and over again might end up adopting their stance. So in a way it is sort of a lose-lose situation when it comes to increasing discussion quality.
>>
>>106473965
The point of an anonymous image board is whatever the bulk of the users want it to be. There is no cosmic law that says everyone has to behave according to your ideals. If you don't like soecific threads or posts, just don't visit them. I ignore the Apple shill threads, because I don't care about Apple products. It really is that easy.
>>
>>106474088
/v/ has always had porn threads and with the declined quality of games and general state of the internet and porn addiction etc it makes sense there'd be more of it

though I wouldn't be surprised if certain gacha companies do (indirectly) market on /v/
>>
>>106474109
Yes, you are correct, I just feel like it has gotten much worse.
iirc some of them (forgot which exactly, saw screenshots in a thread) do marketing surveys for some meaningless in-game currency and they do mention 4chan in them.
>>
>>106473064
4chan has been dead for several years now.
80% of thread (if not more) are initiated by bots or thirdies.

/g/ is a great example of it. It's 80% of chink advertisement & propaganda.

Wayland code is very verbose. Win32 has a lot of 'wtf' design decisions, like how everything is a "window" even though we think of a window as a top level object, or the weird enums they use and their ambiguous behavior. But Win32 is more succinct than X or Wayland
>>
>>106473827
you have to write lots of boilerplate for wayland because its design mandates you maintaining a large state machine of the whole client state yourself since states are only delivered with events (for which every single one you need to register a listener for) and can't be queried
there are also lots of restrictions on wayland that don't exist on any other window systems
in my library wayland uses 2x of the code to achieve the same functionality as win32/x11

Oh, this guy renamed his channel, I was wondering what his name was, I remember watching a few of this guys videos a while back

He had some fancy ass stealth camper.

The thing I always have issue with in stealth campers though is more of a personal taste thing for me - so many of them are open, meaning less useful and efficient space yse.
Fine for the average person who hates cramped spaces, but I'd be perfectly fine with those cramped spaces if it gave me more function in said space.
You bet your ass I am having a bed as close to the ceiling as I can get. I will sleep in the bed coffin!
I remember seeing some guy build a neat looking bed descending mechanism to make better use of the space. The table and seats below could also become a bed as well, 2 double beds if needed.

>>106473174
For that you'd need to have some decent venting.
Having a whole roof that could open up but prevent water breaching in could be great for those hot climates. Having some mechanism to lift the entire roof up (outside of the frame) would be especially good as you could create more vertical space in the back. Of course, much more expensive and depending on the region, you may need to pass that by your road regulators to see if it is all fine structurally for insurance, etc.

Imagine needing a bootloader for your shitty, proprietary file system because you can't use EFISTUB

You seem confused about what ZFSBootMenu is. It's not a bootloader. It can be used in conjunction with EFISTUB or a bootloader of your choice. It's a utility that allows you to boot kernels off ZFS datasets and lets you manage snapshots. EFI itself cannot read ZFS.
