The penguin is really a great metaphor for linux when you think about it

It's a bird but it literally can't fly, it can walk but when it does that it's wobbly and fucking retarded. So to move places fast theres a workaround - you can slide on your belly really fast on ice, woohoo! And get this - you're great underwater!

Meanwhile actual birds just fly and when they need to walk they are well balanced to do that gracefully and NEVER go underwater because its fucking retarded for a bird to do that.
>>
There's a lot of birds that can swim, you need jeet. You'd know if you went outside.
>>
Windows is a good metaphor for microsoft. They can look in and spy on you all they want when you think about it.
>>
Penguins eat mostly fish, sky birds eat bugs, seed, sometimes bread and slop like that.
Least retarded sky birds eat frogs which isn't a very big upgrade, birds that know how to catch fish and can fly do dive underwater by the way, enjoy your bugs and keep fearing the deep, vast ocean full of food that you never wanted anyway, bugged, söy eating jeet.

Thus, MacOS remains the only viable system for a white man who wants to actually get work done.
>>
>>107656158
I've used the Linux operating system for years. I like it. HOWEVER, I must agree with OP: a penguin is stupid. I always thought a raven is more fitting, because it's one of the most intelligent birds. The fuckers make and use tools (crude one, usally sticks, but a tool is a tool) for crissakes!

Oh: and Linus Torvalds is a cunt. 'nuff said.

Finally, somebody will make a good Linux desktop. No more of these shitty hobbyist distros like CachyOS, Mint, and MX Linux.

We will leave Windows and even some of those Linux distros for Google's desktop OS in 2026.

You know it's true.

They are merging ChromeOS and Android to make a full desktop OS like Windows, basically.

I think its unlikely that zero arm laptops will let you install linux on it. At the very least framework and system76 laptops should. And Fedora and Ubuntu already have arm64 isos.

>>
>>107657100
what exactly differentiates a regular linux from one thats "made for playing emulators" ? any major linux distro can run emulators right? is there some scheduling optimization or something?
>>
>>107657148
Well, scrot works with a hotkey just fine, but the keyword I used was /conflict/. If something else is binded then that's what the key is going to use, but I have nothing but scrot installed so that's what mine uses. PrtSc makes a screenshot and Alt+PrtSc makes a screenshot selector plus sign. The real point is that you may already have scrot installed and can use it right now via the scrot or scrot -d (seconds) commands.

That's not a linux issue that's a (You) issue. I set up my WM once, used it for six years, decided I was annoyed with one part of it, set up another WM using mostly defaults, have been using it for two years already.
I make $200k/y and run Arch on my work laptop (btw).

i changed my username recently and now i don't have sudo permissions even though i'm still in the wheel group. apparently archinstall sets up sudoers per user and does not apply it to the wheel as a whole. why is that? are archinstall mantainers retarded or is there a reason to do this i don't know about?

Also, I'm not Ben.

Hello everyone, I have an old desktop PC sitting right there doing nothing. I'm trying to give it a reason to exist and evaluating the idea to install Windows 7 on it.
So, can you use Windows 7 in these days? How much do you have to debloat it and uninstall things? And, more important, there's a way to not have it becoming a SECURITY NIGHTMARE?

>>

No one has found any malware in it despite it having thousands of users.
>>
>>107655838
So, you can't then?
>>
>>107647565
>So, can you use Windows 7 in these days?
Yes, though some software from the last few years may not work on it
>How much do you have to debloat it and uninstall things?
Zero debloating required. It's windows 7.
>there's a way to not have it becoming a SECURITY NIGHTMARE?
Disconnect it from the internet.

theres extended security updates, it's still getting security updates until next year. look on mydigitallife to find the patches necessary to get it.

i still use windowss 7 as my daily computer. its fantastic. i mostly just daytrade on it, youtube is a bit slow, but its yet to blue screen once.

for security, i run tinywall and set it to deny everything. if a program needs access to the internet, i approve it. once you start using all your programs, it never bothers you again unless its some weird program or a windows update tool. if youre smart theres no risk, unless some zero day gets release that can compromise a computer with zero user interaction.
>>
>>107647565
>SECURITY NIGHTMARE
That is a meme
Your problem is to get over the compatibility issues as you have to use old versions of many programs. Also no DX12
Besides that, W7 is still the best windows up to date

why are so many programming "help" groups like this? like, somebody will specifically opt into helping people, and then get frustrated when they dont do exactly what they expect. it constantly feels like im testing everyone's patience whenever i ask for help and its even harder trying to just learn everything myself, especially considering all the weird semantic differences in both the language itself and guides.

like i can imagine a full script in my head but i wouldnt know how to translate it into the language im currently using. and on the offchance that i *do* get the help needed, usually its just "oh just use the blah function", so its not like i just Dont Know How To Code or anything i just dont know the shit thats specific to the engine, and its not like i can just look it up in a glossary or something because the words can be totally different from language to language, like how "object" in one language can be "entity" in another, and object in *that* language refers to an object in an array or something, so theres just a huge language gap that i cant really cross without the help of others, which sucks because working with others sucks

Instead of asking "how to do X" know-nothing retards will ask "how to do X by doing Y?" where Y is usually a difficult, error-prone, flawed and otherwise subpar way to do X - something you can't actually explain to them without huge effort, because the knowledge they lack to do X without help is the same knowledge needed to know why Y is a bad idea. Such retards also tend to be extremely insistent that you have to spoonfeed them not just about how to do X, but how to do X in their retarded way. Bullying them until they leave is the objectively correct approach.
