I wanna build a board like 4chan but for Christian discussions only. If I am just to get started I will probably deploy web front end on a free platform and the servers at home for now. Ill probably just build a new desktop and install Debian on it so it will run a few docker instances of a database and maybe Java or NodeJS backend to generate ids, confirm upload file formatting, generate captchas. I know how most of full stack works but dont have much experience with running multiple servers at once for the same front end.

Is it a common practice to run load balancer on multiple docker instances on the same machine with a powerful processor? Should I invest in AWS or buy a small server rack instead?

>Should I invest in AWS or buy a small server rack instead?
let's be real, you could run this off an old smart phone and it would never reach capacity
>>
>>106536832
I mean I hope so because then thats less work for me to moderate it but out of curiosity how much power can I give the servers and spend very little on it?

what are the pros and cons of flatpaks versus just downloading things via terminal? i am told flatpaks are a bit safer since they have a bit of "padding" around them but that increases the "weight" a bit of them.
>>
>>106537021
Flatpaks are bloated, larger file size, there may be bugs caused by sandbox or apps may misbehave. But they will have all their dependencies and will be more stable for stuff like wine or steam. It would be better to install flatpak stuff only on a case-by-case basis

But it Steve Jobs was living, he wouldn't let this be, no, no

Well if you're going to use godot you just need to learn gdscript which is super simple. Could take you an afternoon to learn it. C++ is going to take you months to learn if you have no prior programming experience.
>>
>>106534175
You can use either c++or GDScript

Nice, I didn't know it was that easy. Thanks Anon

C# which is much different

No, he's right. You can use C#, C++, or GDscript. All officially supported.

Maybe they want anonymity, they don't like their voice, or maybe they don't speak the language very well. I think there are enough valid reasons out there.

I did. The 4 second ads became 10, then 15, then 30 seconds with an immediate skip button, then the skip button took 5 seconds, etc. I complained at step 1.

Nigger RIGHT NOW you are being tracked by AI cameras at your grocery store compiling your purchases and credit card, linking that to your face scan and name, which is also linked to the AI camera unit sitting in the parking lot that has already linked your car and license plate to your face, and it will continue to do so as you drive away, noticing where you are driving and at what time you are there, will be there next time, and plot trends to identify your shopping patterns.
Does not wanting your voice revealed on a platform that forces anyone who's partnered with Youtube to upload their ID and credit card really sound so farfetched, glowie?

Big search engines like Google and Bing are well known to track searchers activity and sell that data to advertisers — which is why many of us don’t feel comfortable searching freely anymore.
If you’re looking for more private alternatives, here are a few I’ve come across. I’d love to hear what others are using too!

DuckDuckGo – Great for simple, untracked searches
Startpage – Delivers Google results without the profiling
Brave Search – Strong privacy with its own independent index
MyAllSearch – Clean interface with a focus on user privacy
Qwant – GDPR-compliant, with servers based in Europe
Dogpile – A metasearch engine that pulls top results from Bing, Yandex, and more

Please share anymore Iv'e missed, I'm always curious to discover new ones.

I think you're right. didn't use to be, they were solely independent

>Prioritizes non-commercial content
>Tools for both search and discovery
>No data shared with 3rd parties
>complies with the GDPR
>Custom index and crawler software
>Simple technology, no AI
>AGPL license
Caveat: Not useful as a full-on DDG/Google/etc replacement. Useful for researching topics where you don't need cutting edge up to date info from Reddit and other epic platforms/metaverses.
>>
I don't like google because of the toaster-sharted "people also ask" search suggestions that remind me of interacting with esl normies on Discord

You don't like google because you've gaslit yourself into thinking that there's some way forward to privacy.

>>
>>106533257
They team up recently with Qwant to make an independent European search index.

Unfortunately it looks like 2025 will not be the year of the linux desktop.

I'll probably just move her back to mint and install Bluedevil again. She quite litteraly only uses it for uni and set her up with chrome.

I had her using mint but blueman is a piece of shit so I installed Bluedevil and it worked and I figured "why not just give her kde, looks closer to windows anyway and fedora had good driver support (allegedly)"
