do i really need a VPN to torrent? ive been doing this for over 10 years now from movies to games and its not like i got spam mailed or anything, is there really a threat to not using a vpn?
>>108515861> he stole CyberpunkOh, so returned it and then was sent to jail? You steal something if it was not published anywhere, not meant for the public, but you got it somehow. Then you can say it's stealing. Like stealing commercial secrets and such. But in this case he used the software without the loicense. It's not stealing.

I can't figure out whether I want to get upsold from an M5 MacBook Pro to an M5 Pro MacBook Pro and then to an M5 Max MacBook Pro or not. Going from M5 to M5 Pro is a $900 increase in the price on the configs that I was looking at. Going from M5 Pro to M5 Max is another $900 increase.Going to M5 Pro will actually help speed up my tasks, but it's not clear whether that's truly required or not given that the speed-ups aren't likely to impact my income, or at least not in any way that I see right now. M5 Max will significantly increase the speed of 3D rendering, and if I weren't rendering I would never even consider buying that chip. 3D rendering is purely a hobby to me, I don't generate any income from it and don't hope to, but nonetheless the price increase isn't that bad, I mean I already feel like I somehow justified the M5 Pro upgrade, and the M5 Max upgrade is the same price.I don't know which chip to choose, anons!

>>108515679It really depends on the use or rather how many different tasks you want it to do at once.An m710q tiny that i upgraded from a 6500T to a full 7700 could theoretically output 4k60 but in practice none of the ports supported it. I should have tested decoding/encoding/transcoding before i gave it back to my buddy who gave it to me for refurbishment tbf.But generally if you want the igpu to be better at 4k60 or higher>newer intel with the 700 series (730/770) igpu (11th gen+)>AMD Zen2 based laptop chips with a Vega 6 iGPU >or Zen3 if you can find them for cheap enoughBasically buy new or use something with a maxwell era dGPU a used laptop with an MX chip

>>108518279imagine linux on x86 but with orders of magnitude smaller community due to ARM and the whole hardware ecosystem being more closed (so similar situation as nvidia drivers).Another problem is that many killer apps on phones inherently have strong network effects and thus are impossible to replicate as FOSS programs (most instant messengers, banking) so users won't switch and these companies won't support linux without the users being there.touchscreen program on linux are grim in general, but this might actually improve in the next few years with affordable tablet laptopspower managemant is also a much bigger issue on phones, and you will never can kill programs as aggressively on linux as on android as the assumptions are much differentIf you are willing to buy a supported phone, check youtube for reviews. It will work, especially for things like simple telephony, but the experience will be noticeably worse than android

This year's Debian Project Leadership election has only ONE candidate and it's a Pajeeta (Sruthi Chandran):>She is inactive on the mailing lists, and her Salsa profile is private so we can't even see what her coding contributions are.>She's run for DPL 4 times before; lost each time>Her entire platform is just about diversity and bitching about cis males>She intends to formally incorporate Debian in the US, which would force Debian to introduce age verificationHer only claim to fame is organizing DebConf23, an event where a Debian developer literally fucking DIED because basic health & safety measures were not followed.A much more qualified candidate was hospitalized during the nomination window and couldn't apply in time, yet she has refused to reopen nominations.Debian is FUCKED unless the Debian developers all vote NOTA (None of the above).

>>108516882They've put everything into their trillion dollar data centers. If Spud, the first model trained on their first installation, is a big success then Anthropic will have a very hard time catching up. Google probably has enough compute too for a while, but as more of the data centers come online OpenAI will cement any lead it creates. That's assuming they manage to create a lead in the first place of course, and the whole initiative doesn't bomb.

>>108515872>they struggle to meet the increasing demand, it's so over!Okay.
>>108515872This is merely creating the massive pressure and demand needed to propel us into the next evolution of technology required to power AI at its full potential. This happened many times in history. When industrialization was being hampered by the limitations of coal power, we invented modern fossil fuels. When scarce copper deposits caused endless wars and, eventually, the bronze age collapse, humans learned to smelt much more abundant iron ore. Nuclear power was invented due to the demand for a superweapon during WW2.If you think the world has changed in the last couple of years just wait. Soon you won't recognize it at all.
It's over.
