Fashion passes in cycles. We're now seeing a emo revival, despite emo style being a thing of the past. Emos we had about 20 years ago.Clearly we are long due for another change of style when it comes to user interface design. Le flatte is so passé, is it not time for a new style to take the world by storm?
>>108353475Fashion is the big gay, there is no reason to move away form "flat" design.
>>108353475Memphis was nice but Y2K was sorely needed. After the sterile environment of Y2K you needed the wide and naturalistic (with a hint of idealism) Frutiger Aero. Flat design is the complete opposite, which at first makes it seem more pragmatic but in the end lead to an oversimplification. I believe next we'll have more 3D and skewmorphics but also a more direct design. Less 'Hide this in the third submenu'.

Built this as an experiment. You get a random question, write an answer, it plants as a flower and stays there permanently.Stack is vanilla HTML/CSS/JS on Neocities. Cloudflare Worker handles the writes to a static JS archive. No database, no accounts, no tracking. Just a file that keeps growing. The Flowerdex lets you filter all flowers by question. Some of the answers people left are genuinely interesting. One flower per day per IP. Profanity filter on the Worker side.grassfields.neocities.orgCurious what /g/ would leave behind.

I just bought a portable a/c. It has wifi functionality so I can set a timer on it and control it from an app. i have an openwrt gl.inet router, and a spare laptop that can only run windows 10, is there a way to monitor what this portable a/c is doing through something like wireshark? I just want to track how much GB of data it's using to see if it's doing anything shady like becoming part of a Chinese vpn botnet.Any ideas on how I would go about not only isolating this portable a/c to a very limited wifi network, but also monitoring the traffic it's sending back to the chinese servers?Pic unrelated. It doesn't use alexa or google home, just some chinese android app.
You can do everything from the OpenWRT router. Create an isolated VLAN, configure a separate Wifi SSID and assign it to the VLAN, and then, monitor the traffic from the router and do packet captures from it. Install Gentoo on the laptop.https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/network/vlan/switch_configurationhttps://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/network/wifi/basichttps://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/services/network_monitoring/bwmonhttps://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/firewall/misc/tcpdump_wiresharkhttps://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Handbook:Main_PageYou should be running a separate VLAN for all IoT devices, regardless of origin, given the infrequency of updates and the frequency with which these devices are abandoned and eventually compromised.
>>108353123you don't need a special router. as long as you're connected to the same wifi network, you can send a packet telling the device you're the router now. then all packets are routed via your computer. but I expect electronical devices to use encrypted communications, so it'll still be harder since they may rely on certificates.

Messing around with meme coding with qwen3.5 35b. How does this stack up compared to the paid stuff?
reverse image search found another one.>>108352881I could never get the bloody moe models to run. which dense?
>>108353375moe models are easier to rununironically just use llama.cpp and ask whatever flavor of corpo LLMs for args with your pc spec loldense i mean 27B models, they will crush 35B-A3B any day for jobs like coding but you need at least 16GB vram for a good experiencemoes are memes
>>108353395yeah i remember trying to get them running with llama.cpp and claude code hooked up to it via some router program. no end of problems. maybe im too retarded, its certainly possible.kept running out of ram on 2x older 24gb cards. Also is all qwen 3.5 just moe? The 27b versions are just quants? Also vision is just wasted data and training, so the code only version is still qwen 2.5 or something?
>>108353528~to 27B it is densefrom 35B-A3B they are all moeand 27B is number of parameters, quants mean they have parameter precision compromised, does not mean lower paramsand just use qwen3.5, not qwen3 coderseriously just run 27b dense Q5 on a single gpu and that will be more than enough for you

>>108351320theres just too much worth archiving that i know of, it'd be impractical for me to even attempt. got remember that yt was the main option for decades, everything is there and now google wants to turn off the tap.
>>108347365Why didn't jeets who work for YT become proactive squashing down frontends' workarounds until now? How much do the former get paid for the whack-a-mole?
>>108353141frontends now run js code to perform youtube's proof of work. they become harder to distinguish with real browsers. yt-dlp hasn't been affected by the recent youtube changes.they also used to spoof youtube apps for ios which doesn't run a full-fledged web browser, so it's harder to tell if they are fake or real.it's just because freetube devs are too autistic to use yt-dlp.

>>108339314Because nobody tries to practice their Second Amendment.

Isn't this all just so that Meta can avoid responsibility?I don't think they care about the children at all of course (well some of them do in a different way let's just say), I don't think it's done to uniquely identify who's who behind a computer either though, because anonymity is a fucking myth in this day and age, but it seems to me like this is just a way for Meta to avoid paying up.
>>108352508At the end of the day, it is the FOSS folks who are practically spreading their legs open for age verification even when they don't necessarily have to.One thing that is very clear to everyone is how unclear these age verification laws are. You don't need to be a lawyer to figure this shit out. What counts as an app store? If a person is downloads stuff using the DNF or Pacman package manager, does he need to verify his age first? What about using git to clone repositories? No one fucking knows and it is practically impossible to enforce this shit on tools like this. Now here comes the Flathub and the FreeDesktop bros. They cannot fucking wait to add age verification. Fucking hell, they are even already thinking about ID verification too. When people went "What the fuck, guys?!" they silence critics by locking and closing issues and start crying, "AHHHHH WE ARE BEING HARRASSSSSSED", you know, tthe classic GNOME dev tactic.Hell, fucking Valve is doing more to fight this bullshit than these GNOME GTK Flatpak fags. It's pathetic.> https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2026/03/valve-posted-a-statement-on-the-new-york-lootbox-lawsuit/
>>108353583You're talking about californian or californian adjacent "people". Of course they'll bend over. They actually love bending over to own the fash.I don't think there's a way to make this work unless there's some sort of verifiable digital ID that needs to be detected before logging in.Of course a lot more of a benign thing (I don't think this is what's all about), I've heard it's actually all looking for specific tools to enable parental controls on linux in the same way a lot of devices do already and implementing those if they're not present already.
