Early 2020s: China enacts laws severely crippling the internet for people unless they show ID

Jul 2025 (Online Safety Act): UK enacts laws neutering the internet for people unless they show ID; remains in effect despite initial outcry

Dec 2025 (Online Safety Amendment): Australia enacts laws neutering the internet for people unless they show ID; likely to remain in effect despite current outcry

Apr 2026? (KOSA, made it into the House recently): US enacts laws neutering the internet for people unless they show their IDs

EU has similar shit on the table iirc, they're the fucking EU they love regulation

This will get worse, and this won't go away, at least not in the way you want it to - it'll be an impossibly difficult sell because "THINK OF THE CHILDREN!" Security theater is notoriously difficult to reverse, just compare flying pre and post 9/11. This'll probably be more of the same. Again, UK already had a petition, the gov there just laughed in everyone's faces. Only way any of this is really "going away" is, like, the internet itself going extinct.

Not just this btw, also got countries banning Chinese social media (which in many cases can ironically be less restrictive), Android banning sideloading, etc.

This won't get kids playing outside again. They'll just watch only the government-OK kid-friendly TV, YouTube Shorts, and AI. Sheeple will still use a heavily policed internet and talk to Amanda the AI HR Lady because "brain need dopamine". China's still full of internet addicts despite having long had one of the world's most censored internets.

I'm having an annoying problem on Debian with I3. The nm-applet doesn't show my wired connection, and commands like nmcli network off and on have no effect. I couldn't find any solutions online, and going offline by removing the ethernet cable is annoying as fuck. I can't provide any output right now, I'm away from my computer.

When I auto remove unneeded packages and manually remove bloat, trim down ram and cpu usage disabling background services I don’t need, clean up my directories, swap out defaults for lighter options, etc. it feels like grooming a cat. Debloating is a hell of a drug I might go all the way and ditch a DE at this point.

Don't like the cigarette lighter and ashtray placement. If you put it at the top, the heat from the lighter can easily be handled by the case fans at the top. You will however risk ash raining down on lower bays. Use the lowest bay and now you have to deal with lighter heat but ash isn't really a problem (unless is gets sucked into the case). But having it at neither ends of the stack makes it have both problems.

Aren't you guys even slightly worried about Ai making perfect vice clones of people and creating very realistic videos now? Video evidence as we know it is slowly being made irrelevant, 2 years ago people were creating fake voice records and putting people in jeapordy. Now it's gonna be even worse. Bit even talking about how AIs main goal is to replace every single human

legitimate question. What exactly is the purpose of this in a web browser these days? It isn't like people are sharing computers or tablets. Even poor people on welfare have their very own smartphone or computer that's subsidized entirely by the government, one for each member of the family. Nobody is sharing tech these days, especially something as personal as a phone, tablet, or computer. Why would you need an incognito function on a computer that you own and use exclusively yourself? Did we really need to implement this entirely new function in a web browser when you could just click history and then delete the website from there?

>>
>>107536518
tried this and some other presets but it still sounds rather bad, although acceptable for $20
I tweaked the autoeq results for the harman target a little bit so they are not as harsh
I still can't achieve bass being punchy/fast, mids are a bit clearer now but lack detail, treble is ok for me
>>107536011
I changed the eartips for longer and smaller ones and it's a bit better but no way I could have them on for longer than 30 mins, maybe I will buy better ones
>>
>>107538075
if you have problems with eartips chances are you don't get a proper seal and leak all the bass. It makes treble sound brighter and harsher than it should.
Plus you should EQ length modes out and probably lower treble 1-2 dB overall.
First of all get rid of all your retarded autoEQ presets.
With bass try something dumb if it's not punchy enough like +5 dB 80Hz low shelf.
Not DSP bunny's mids are a little bit recessed so you might want to add at least 1 dB at around 800 Hz. It's very probable that you have a rather shallow fit even if you are getting decent seal that is lowering bass and rising treble.
for treble add -2 dB 4000 Hz high shelf.
That's only a start btw. You'll need to make proper changes depending on the results.

Apple ARM processors have ONE execution unit capable of SME processing shared between ALL cores in a cluster.
https://github.com/tzakharko/m4-sme-exploration/blob/main/reports/01-sme-overview.md
The SIMD execution units you refer to are for NEON, and only support 128-bit vectors (lmao) compared to AVX2 which supports 256-bit. So Intel's three AVX units are equivalent to 6 of Applel's. AMD's chips support AVX-512, so one unit of those are equivalent to four of Apple's and Zen5 has two capable of doing FMAs, and four capable of integer math.
>>

>NEON is faster than AVX
Lmao
NEON on the M5 big core is 4x128b.
AVX2 on Arrow Lake is 2x256b for floating point, 4x256b for integer/bitwise math, and AVX-512 on Zen5 is 2x512b for floating point and 4x512b for integer/bitwise.
NEON is in no way comparable.
>M4 Max has 5 cpu clusters
9950X has 16 cores, all capable of AVX-512.

The best and brightest C programmers agree: Rust belongs in the Linux kernel!
https://lwn.net/Articles/1049831/
This board tries it's best to portray C and Rust as polar opposites, but in the end they serve the same purpose. Good C programmers have always respected Rust programmers and vice versa. Only the fizzbuzzers and jeets want a language war between C and Rust.

Why do they want it? Because if you split the systems language ecosystem, there will be less competition to their electron/react garbage (see Windows 11 start menu)
Everyone except Indians agrees that anything written in Rust or C is much better than electron garbage. That is why it is important to be friends and allies, not enemies
