I managed to get SDL_mixer to build in Visual Studio. I've added the MUSIC_MOD_MODPLUG preprocessor flag. Now I just need to get these errors fixed with the libmodplug source. Technology has gone too far. Companies are obsessed with making phones as thin as possible but is that really what the consumer wants?
