Im not trying to autostart programs in xfce. Im not trying to do anything with my xfce session. What im saying is i created a separate openbox + reaper xsession by creating a .desktop file for it and moving it into the .xsessions directory.
When i startup my custom openbox session, it has the default openrc runlevel already going and what im trying to do instead is use an alternative, slimmer runlevel because i only need this xsession environment for creating music. I dont need internet, bluetoothd, cups, etc daemons/services running. And i dont want to have to use the rc-update stop/delete commands every single time i login under this custom session
>>
>>107536142
yes easier to manage/create. speaking of which i forgot to create mine after my last installation. nothing happens
>>
>>107534414
Did you install it onto a USB drive or something? Check your disk read/write speeds, I believe Bazzite comes with the "Disks" application where you can benchmark your drive speeds.

>>107534508
Flatpaks wouldn't cause his bootup times to be slow nor would Dolphin open slowly. I've had bazzite installed on a shitty 64GB micro SD card and it wasn't as slow as that anon describes it to be.

>>107536157
If you're just using it to automatically select a solid color, then GIMP. It has a fuzzy select and a foreground select tool.
>>
>>107536198
Oh i see, sorry I misread, I think the way you do it is like this
# cd /etc/runlevels
# cp -r -P default custom-runlevel
# cd custom-runlevel
# ls -l

Now just remove the services you don't want and then run
rc custom-runlevel
, this will start all services in custom-runlevel and stop all services not in it (except for boot and sysvinit). If this works then you can add that line to your .desktop file

If you live in a civilised country, then no new law is needed because you already have legal responsibility to keep your children safe and to educate them.
Use parental controls, they are available on all devices for at least the past 10 years.
The problem is that these parental responsibility laws are not enforced, so you get in a situation where children and adolescents do whatever the fuck they want and expose themselves to predators online.
This new nanny state law is just an excuse for restrict your freedoms by authoritarian government retards who appeal to emotion by saying «think of the children». So again, the solution is to just enforce existing laws, no new law needed.

I'm finally making the jump to Wayland, and I'm wondering which WM to use. I'm very used to xmonad and I'm looking for a good Wayland-based WM with similar capabilities. Any recommendations?
10 replies omitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>107535880
There's a few features that work way better on wayland, like per-display scaling, touch input and touchpad gestures, and containerized apps are actually isolated.
Meanwhile, on X I can very easily get window animations on any WM with a compositor like picom, add an animated wallpaper with xlivebg, and similar shit that just works on any WM.
To me, wayland is way better integrated and supports modern features better, while X11 remains a loosely-coupled tinkerer's wet dream.
One day I hope to be able to move to wayland, things seem to be going in that direction and major DEs are already dropping X11. We're not there yet, though.

Sure, just hope that something you do doesn't one day become illegal.
Or simply declared as immoral in the court of general public opinion.
Would be a shame, since your online activities are easily accessible.
Not just by the govt/feds, even if you believe them to be the good guys.

The problem with cryptographic technologies is that they will always have vulnerabilities and that's if such a technology isn't a honeypot to begin with. Just like how a lock can be picked.

Only VPN servers can truly conceal your identity as you are quite literally connecting to a different internet connection and using it virtually but of course not all VPN servers are safe to use (depending on your usage). VPN servers come with different benefits depending on the company hosting them and the country in which the company is based in. Obviously you should not use servers from mainstream Western companies that are advertised to normies for illegal shit. Those servers are only good for bypassing georestrictions.

If you really want anonymity ideally you should use a Mysterium node but even with those you should check the ISP because anybody could be hosting it. Statistically speaking there has to be some run by the feds. If it's run by a standard ISP you should be safe but if it's run by some random company posing as a (lets say) business ISP then there's good chance it's a front. Just use your own judgement.

Truthfully there's no reason to be anonymous on the internet unless you are doing some shady shit. Whether you are selling drugs, leaking classified information or producing certain type of taboo content. Perhaps you're Walter White on the run in need of some ultra secure messaging solution. If you are going to use Tor - never do so without a VPN. You are bound to connect to a compromised exit node. I assume it's the same case for Lokinet as it's built on pretty much the same technology.

I find 4chan XT insanely useful, I couldn't imagine browsing this place without it. Are there any other extensions/userscripts that implement broad site improvements like that? Enhancer for YouTube comes to mind. Yes, there are others for YouTube, but I haven't tried them. And I guess there are some R*ddit enhancement suites, but I rarely use that site.

when I want to post via link and the original image is a webp, I can't do so because 4chan has no webp support. xt converts it for me. on pc, thought I'd clarify
>>
>>107536548
I don't know about that. Maybe I was underselling it because I kept remembering stuff and posting after I made the initial reply.

>Does 4chan have a built-in gallery view for images?
>Can you filter by image MD5/subject field/comment field? I guess maybe you can if you know enough regex, but I don't. 4chan XT makes it easy to switch fields when filtering.
>Can you keep thread settings (hidden, watched) saved in private mode? Maybe you could export the settings I guess, but that seems tedious.
>Can you make zoom on hover depend on whether you're in the catalog or the thread?
>Can you automatically redirect threads to the archive or restore posts?
Genuinely asking btw, I haven't played around with 4chan's default settings too much.
>>
>>107536596
So you are posting lossy transcoded images. gotcha.
>>
>>107536596
I know about that gallery view, but you can accomplish similar things by adding custom CSS to 4chan XT. Maybe you can add it to default 4chan as well since it has a custom CSS field, I haven't tried. This is a modified version another anon posted:

/* gallery grid */

.gal-viewport {
width: 40%;
}
.gal-thumbnails {
width: 100%;
flex: 0 0 40%;
flex-flow: wrap;
align-content: flex-start;
