As of my estimate, the GNU/Linux copypasta was created on /g/ somewhere between late Nov 2008 and late March 2009. The lower bound is Ten Billion thread archive being empty, the upper bound is first outside appearance of the copypasta: https://web.archive.org/web/20091031140239/https://xercestech.com/linux-not-gnulinux.geek

Anon, if you somehow have a thread dump of /g/ board made in early 2009, please grep it for any “interject for a moment” appearances.

I saw Richard Stallman at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.

He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”

I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw Stallman trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

Oh, if that's your query:
If it was before about 2009, it was probably honest-to-god 4chan OC - though that can't be guaranteed.
Everything between 2009 and about 2019, it originated on Reddit with well over 95% certaintly.
Everything since, is the exact words of some JewTube eceleb, parroted mindlessly.
Hope that helps narrow it down for you, anon.

bible has sexual content so they need age verification system to use the site with users sending their ID to them and someone manually checking those
then they need a way to facilitate gdpr with an appointed spokesperson and a system to delete data
then since theres child porn in bible they might not be allowed to serve some eu countries like austria

I quite seriously doubt it's that. Bibles are online in the EU and UK right now.

I suspect it's more along the lines of not wanting to provide the EU and UK with data they 'require.'

I don't use AI because it's bad for the environment. Even if there were a service that provably uses 100% clean energy (there isn't), the water usage by the cooling systems is unacceptable.
>>
Ok
>>
>>106528236
>the water usage by the cooling systems is unacceptable
That's even more contextual than the clean energy thing. Water usage is only a "problem" in areas where water is limited, like in Texas draining non-renewable aquifers. But here in the Great Lakes region, there's not really any water shortage of note.
You have a problem with a data centre in Norway, running off hydroelectric power, no shortage of local freshwater because the mountains collect tons of it, and lower cooling requirements to begin with due to more favourable temperature deltas with the average outdoor temperature?
Why is AI the problem, and not video streaming or the internet at large?
>>
gay thread meant to push the other thread about ai and create more retarded discussion
>>
>>106528236
I don't use AI because it's a glorified search engine that provides bullshit answers that are incoherent 1/3 of the time, and image generation is useless to me because I have two hands and know how to draw basic diagrams/mockups if I need them.
The energy/water consumption thing is bad too.

Technology is rapidly regressing.
Windows 10 took away the analog clock.
Windows 11 took away the second. There is no built in way in Windows 11 to see the second. It's not in the start menu. It's not in the clock app. It's not in the notification area. It's not in the calender that opens form the notification are when you click on the clock. You have to install a 3rd party app or open a webpage to see the second.

I don't understand who this is supposed to be for. People who want an object-oriented cross-platform shell already have PowerShell, which does everything Nushell does, but better. People who care about UNIX philosophy would call object-oriented an anti-feature and have better native shells.
I guess it's a fad for rust developers to fit in with other rust developers, but that has no appeal for me.
>>
>>106525380
You can't build powershell from source. It's cmdlets are slow and there is a wide gap between Windows and Linux and the differences between 5.1 and 7.5.
You'll find weird problems like Out-File -Encoding UTF8 adding a bom or you'll somehow get a variable to be "optimized" and thus break your whole session or learn the exciting trivial differences between psobject pscustomobject or some other bullshit .NET type.
Probably the only good thing about powershell is P/Invoke via Add-Type and some Cshart vomit.

If you deal with windows all day and have to have a similar experience, sure. But really powershell fucking sucks honestly.
>>
>>106526762

lmao, i can't believe i used to pay artists hundreds of dollars for artwork

do you feel bad for artists?
137 replies and 22 images omitted. Click here to view.

And when one says AI has now replaced human art, does this include music? How about film and TV? Poetry? Bas-reliefs?

I can believe AI 'art' is making inroads in the corporate world. For sure. And I can believe that artists who work with corporate clients or who themselves are on staff, are seeing less work and the possibility of job cuts, less pay, etc. as they become redundant in the field of soulless, corporate 'art.'

OTOH I can't really think of a field outside the corporate one where AI art is making inroads or encroaching. Certainly not fine art, likely not music excepting pop where it's likely been used covertly for a couple years now. Probably 3D animated bears you see on soda commercials smiling and drinking a can of soda could be AI generated quicker and cheaper than having some 3D animator model and animate them. But I doubt you can 3D animate a natural behaving bear battling some other bear with AI, no way. You still need humans to do that.

I'm open to AI infiltrating the fine art world, that'd be very funny indeed. Fine art world is so far up its ass that its ripe for it. Much like how the Sokol Affair needed to happen and showed everybody how fake and gay high and academic culture is.
>>
>>106527985
I'm no artist, sorry, just was interested in a novelty toy at the time, no idea what /de3/ even is, but I do follow tons of artists in twitter and pixiv, the latter not so much now since the slop avalanche.
I just feel like the AI side of the pond is more interested in getting a reaction from artists than actually making interesting.
I cannot actually think of a single AI-driven artistic project that actually matured and garnered respect.
In the end, and believe me, as an ex-slopper this will hurt me as much as the AI jeets ITT, we, like the talentless hacks on twitter they like to harp on about, want quick recognition and easy money, but I realized early this is a fool's errand.
Scarcity is the source of art's value, destroy scarcity and you have nothing.
>>
>>106528045
>I'm no artist, sorry, just was interested in a novelty toy at the time
It's fine.
>no idea what /de3/ even is
It was a shitty general dedicated to a quite versatile (at the time) image generator.
>the latter not so much now since the slop avalanche.
It's quite bad over there, indeed.
>I just feel like the AI side of the pond is more interested in getting a reaction from artists than actually making interesting.
Good to see more people finally starting to nooootice how little heart there really is going around in the space.
>>
What is 'good' AI art though? Like how do you benchmark how good it is? And can AI art have meaning?
>>
>>106528043
>I doubt you can 3D animate a natural behaving bear battling some other bear with AI
Depends entirely on what you mean by that. I'm fairly sure the tools to create actual 3D assets and then use machine learning to control the final character while using carrots and sticks to get to to something approximating the behavior of a bear is entirely within the realms of possibility. Its mostly a case of "yeah but why would you?" since its not like it'd be cheap to do since you'd be the first to actually put to gether all these components and also train the bear animation AI.
If a company like Rockstar wanted better bear AI in RDR 4 I'm sure they could create an internal workflow system to for AI powered generation of unique bears models with slight modifications to their behavior to create distinct personalities capable of fighting each other just like real bears would.
But why?
It'd be multi-million dollar project for a team of people to spend a year or two on. Just on the off chance that the player runs into a bear and it does anything other than just walk around sniffing at stuff and the player have seen enough bears to know that it looks like Bear #5 from the database? Better to spend the money on improving variation and behavior in human NPCs.
