OLED has excellent response, like insanely. Never seen black smearing on an OLED.
What you see on OLED is probably just sample and hold smearing.
>>
>>107654627
No, phones smear at low brightness because they're made to save power first and foremost and that's the drawback
'eck oled has much worse response times than a desktop one since it's only 90hz
It follows that you'd care even less about that on a phone with half the battery capacity at best
>>
>>107654653
my phones OLED is 120Hz
>>
>>107654673
So is mine and yet if I zero the brightness it smears

>a couple years ago, amazon has made it impossible to order packages over something like 400 bucks through this method.
In March of 2024 I ordered a 460€ PSU off of Amazon and had it delivered to a DHL packing station.
Some sellers on Amazon randomly don't deliver to DHL packing stations but I think that has more to do with how they ship things.
The only other times delivery to the packing station was unavailable when a package was either too large or "dangerous goods".

But yeah, I agree with the other Anon that shitty deliveries are how you pay indirectly for shitty pay and shitty working conditions.

in my case it's absolutely amazon (not third party sellers) doing this, their message states something like "this package is too valuable blah blah blah"
I've heard some people posit that amazon has been doing this because people break into amazon lockers too often but the retail UPS access point style of service isn't like the damned lockers, you need to go through a human to get your package and there's no "break into" this shit
(and it's true publicly accessible lockers do get broken into, the one closest to me in a gas station has often been in a state of shutdown because it was damaged)

I once tried to learn C++ but so many things just sucked:
The syntax, headder files, 1000 ways to do the same thing, the ((meta-)meta-) "build" system(s) and overall the feeling of the language:
It is like someone had continuously updated his hobby project without concerning other users.

I want to learn a modern language instead and chose Zig out of Rust or Zig as Rust seemed gay-coded to me.
Is it a good decision to learn Zig? Will Zig stay?

Any version of Windows since 1995 has been more polished, production-ready and user-friendly than any Linux distro ever made. That's obvious to anybody who has installed both of them on the same machine.

Are Linux users just lying about their distros being a better experience than a Windows installation?

I don't need someone to hold my hand using my computer and honestly given the number of contributors to most of these projects, the level of polish on KDE/Gnome is honestly crazy.

Windows causes fatigue. Constant ads, changing my settings randomly, forced updates, AI slop, and everything running like complete shit because of being coded in React by H1Bs.

Linux just keeps getting better everyday and it's already pretty good now.

Its not just a nas these days, they typically run a whole bunch of programs for you. Say you are into cord cutting, host your own media server and spotify replacement (not saying you should download the 300tb torrent). I also run home automation, password manager, email server, stuff like that. I resist the urge to sign up to more and more cloud and internet services.
Even the simple NAS that are just a small box you put HDDs can run a bunch of stuff.
>>
>>107654404
I always found home automation to be a meme.
Like, I purposely avoid buying smart things, so I just never found the appeal of home automation.
Same with password managers. At most I only sync things to my devices, I never run a password manager server, in case my server goes down I at least don't have to rely on it to get my passwords.
>>
>>107654468
For me, I got sick of wearing out light swiches. They don't make them like they used to. So now lights turn on and off when I move around the house. Extraction fans turn off after a timeout period. Dashboard tablet displays weather forecasts, flood conditions, weather radar stuff. I ain't into signing up to cloud services, this all works offline.
Its a hobby I suppose.

In my experience, the apps and extensions that connect to the password manager cache database, in an encrypted form I suppose. While I cant make changes when its offline, it still sort of works.

Nowadays you can buy used cd's on discogs at very reasonable prices.
I buy vinyl when I really like the artist and want a 'collecters item' or just want to support them. They earn more from that than the 0.004$ per stream.

I poc'd tech migration of an app with copilot, and as it has a full codebase to read to know what to write (just tell it to migrate and it can handle itself reading the codebase), it works very well. I could migrate several thousands of lines of some old jquery/php shit to some react + springboot app in just a few hours.

It's the only task I found copilot does very well and made me spare a HUGE amount of time (I would probably have spent a couple of weeks full time doing what it did).
