bad day. bought a new internal battery for my thinkpad a485. chink seller said it was original battery. the laptop detected the batter and can read it fine yet refused to charge it. been searching the net for bios patch or something. no dice. fuck fuck fuck. $60 down the drain. anyone pls help plsplspls

Thinking of switching my Thinkpad Yoga 14 to Ubuntu with Cinnamon. Is all the tablet mode stuff (detect enable/disable tablet mode system input, disable mouse in tablet mode, screen rotation, touch screen rejection when Wacom stylus is in proximity) supported out of the box in recent Linux versions? I found some scripts on GitHub to add in this functionality but they're from 8 years ago. Looking at the source code, everything seems to be fairly standard, but I just need to confirm if the enable/disable tablet mode system keycodes are the same as the Yoga S1 that this repo was written. The repo is 8 years old so I wonder if Linux has added support for this functionality that these scripts are no longer necessary, now that tablets have been popular for the past 15 years.
>>107861296too lazy to make webm showing it but yes, Cinnamon did it all out of the box on my X13 Yoga
How come American companies can't innovate like this? We can't even afford ram because of Trump meanwhile their ram is 2/3rds cheaper than what prices were in America before tarrifs.

What is better: a 14" or a 16" MacBook Pro? I can't decide. It's unironically too difficult to decide. On one hand, I would prefer the larger display, on the other hand I use my laptop exclusively when I can't use my PC to do something, which means I need a laptop for use around the house and carry it outside first and foremost. I absolutely do not want to use an external monitor almost ever though.
