so after almost half a decade of generative AI. investing billions in it. we got:- expensive hardware- content farms getting the steam engine and automating slop videos on youtube and social media- soulless "art" that no one cares about- boomercide of fake AI content on facebook- more bot farms on twitter- codemonkey peasants getting the tractor so they can produce even worse code.- scam AI startups that rugpull and shut down after 2 monthsnot a single penny of profit generatednot a single usecase
>>107858965The problem with your worldview is that you think it will automate Y but not automate X that makes automating Y pointless. It’s like talking about the future of smithing in 19th century being robotic hand helper that cleans your anvil and holds your metal item while you smack it with hammer, without realising that automated hammer or just full on metal casting on a conveyer belt are going to happen faster then robotic hands that hold your metal chunk, or that the job of a blacksmith is gonna be relevant.

I've been using an iPhone 16 Pro for about half a year and just got an s25. The Samsung is better in literally every single way for half the price. I couldn't get used to the iPhone weird quirks and lack of basic customization.
>>107862539The smasnug has a worse screen and cameras though
>>107862588I have the one with the 2K screen. Don't know about cameras and don't care. The iPhone experience is just jarring. For example you're forced to use gestures and that's cool if it's at least consistent but you'll always find times where back is swipe down, or sometimes swipe left, or you can't swipe at all and have to press a button in the corner somewhere. The permanent back button on samsung is one of the biggest quality of life upgrades you'll ever have. And that doesn't cover the other 1000 things samsung does like better e.g. the smoothness of their 120hz screen whereas iphone is choppy as fuck with regular stuttering during animations.
>>107862699Hmm can't say I've had these issues, except the rare stutters here and there, but I do have an old model (14 pro).

>>107861106We can obviously, munmap is for the case that you want to free memory before process termination.>>107861115Why not use a dedicated function for, idk, mapping anonymous memory? Somehow you need to decide whether something goes in a new flag or a new syscall
Will you start doing non-POSIX, non-Linux OS's syscalls once you went through all the standard Linux ones? Neurosuggesting you keep up the good effort for that long.
>>107861140>Somehow you need to decide whether something goes in a new flag or a new syscallSomehow someone already did.
Besides the fact that its low powered and cute n tiny. Whats the advantage of buying a raspberry pi for $160 versus buying something like a used hp elitedesk g3 for less than $100? Why pay more for less computing power? Besides people out there living off the grid trying to conserve power, i dont understand the point of these things
>>107862266You don’t need 16g. I run NAS on a 1G machine, and seedbox doesn’t require any more either. LAN throughout on the 3b is a bigger deal, reason I moved to OrangePI.
>>107852776Can we really get elite desks tier machines for less than 100$ anymore?I bought an micro ff optiplex 8th gen i5 for fucking 70$ after shipping in 2019 and it's been way better than I thought it would be.
>>107862374So, I thought about it, and there are heads for the pi with either SATA or M.2 ports. That might seal the deal. Also, I forgor: I'll also stream Plex/Jellyfin through it. NAS alone I know I can even make a Zero W work, I'm not sure with all of that, though... I used to run this on an old Pentium with 4GiB of DDR2 RAM using 4 1TB HDDs and unRAID. It was alright, but it was using waaay too much energy (~120W at normal use).
>>107862399The Orange Pi 3B has an M2 slot built in. The downside to SBC is lack of drive connectors. If you want to run a RAID with a bunch of old drives, get an old desktop. If you want low power with single drive, SBC are fine. This is all better covered in >>>/g/hsg/
>>107862815Yeah I'm still thinking about what to do... I have an old 3TB HDD that I might replace my 4TB on my current PC with, and use that 4TB as my NAS storage drive. Sucks not having RAID, but I need it to use as little power as possible.I've been looking into it and looking at /hsg/ for it, too. Ty for the recommendations, anon.
