I need to figure out how to reconcile Minecraft chunks with frames in flight. Naturally you’re supposed to double buffer but I want to be extremely conservative with memory so I need to find another way.
>>107874831its still not ECS
>>107874407>no textures
>>107874840I got it. I just have a vector of PendingDestruction structs. When a chunk is no longer relevant in the renderer the vertex and the index buffers get moved to that vector where they are deleted when currentFrameIndex >= lastUsedFrameIndex + MAX_FRAMES_IN_FLIGHT. A huge win for my renderer because I’m pretty sure Minecraft just double buffers.
>tfw still have my DDR3 RAM sticks somewhere I hope you didn't plan on buying/upgrading your PC in this decade.
>>107874555Even ddr3 is almost double what I paid for it 2 years ago. Sadge.
There are, for now, lots of units of 16gb Kingston Ram for $150.
>>107875005>16gb Kingston Ram for $150.I bought mine for 50 bucks. What the actual fuck?
>>107875022yeah, I bought my 32gb of G.Skill for $101. Now its $360.
>>107875029I am NOT buying hardware for the next 10 years if these are the prices I'm greeted with.
can you imagine if your IDE silently deleted the source files that weren't actively part of the build when closing the project? like, bruh, that would be so retarded hahahaha who in their right mind would do something like that hahahahahahaha
>>107874596I work with it almost every day for years never happened to me so stop larping
>>107874571Deleting zero user data is done by design in blender. It would be fine as an opt-in feature but OP is right that it's absurd as a silent default behavior
>>107874676this is literally how the datablock system is designed you fucking brownoid, a datablock is automatically purged if it's not assigned a user or fake user. Shut the fuck up already.

People always make fun of air coolers. Is it because it is deprecated technology?
>>107873490that's a lot of words to say "i'm poor"
>>107872691Me but NH-14 since Ivy Bridge
>>107869298Water cooling is a trend that deserves to die and thankfully it is. It's not worth the cost, hassle, or risk.
>>107872038If you can find a good deal on one you'd buy one too. You do need a good cooler for sure. Headphones are nice too... lol
>>107873100>just don't look at the massive hulking chunk of metal sitting on top of the motherboard blocking 70% of space
Why do you need a cope program like tlp to gimp half your performance to even match windows?

>>107871704Last I read up on this it's because the Linux scheduler interrupts at a fixed rate (CONFIG_HZ) whereas Windows scales dynamically from 64 Hz - 1000 Hz

>>107874535>buy this software I automated in my sleepCan't I just automate a clone of it myself in my sleep? Why would I buy it from you if it takes no effort to make?
>>107874535Oh look, AI-induced schizophrenia.
>>107875111People forget about the lines of code being worth less when they're trivial to produce. AI might make devs more productive, but I doubt it will make them more money.

When it comes to low level development you really have two options: C and Rust, or as I like to call it, CRust for short. anytime you need real performance you gotta bust out the CRust. Bust the CRust
Based crustbuster op
>>107866574you forgot the ++ in c++
Hnnnng I’m gonna bust that crust
>>107866574How dare you associate C with Rust. Rust is an abomination, which we want nothing to do with.
>>107867620C is the lingua franca of computing, everything passes through C.
how do normies know how to take screenshots but not how to save images?
>>107874791it's an infinitely applicable tool (until it's not) that works and can be repeated. normies dont explore when something works immediately and seemingly forever after learning it once with a low barrier to entry. and it allows a degree of expression when needed. is what it is

Why did people hate it?
>>107873320https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SO9xiLAi41M
>>107873320Because it was shipped on underpowered hardware that made it run like ass. If you had the hardware to run it, it was unironically pretty good. Honestly not THAT different from 7.
>>107874999The fucking PTSD this image triggered
>>107873320Mainly because they rushed Vista out too quick and it was unstable. My brand new vista machine back in 2007 had this issue where the display driver would stop and restart every 45 minutes. Nobody made good drivers for Vista.Windows 7 is just Vista but with 3 extra years of development put into it and it was perfect. Windows 7 does everything Vista does but more stable and while using less system resources.Interestingly enough Windows 8.1 would be the next Vistalike with shit driver support.
>Windows Vista final release 2 days agowat
Why are AI enjoyers so brown? I haven't ever met a White person, let alone a technically or artistically skilled one, who likes it at all or uses it regularly.
