rutracker's take>By popular demand from the working class, we have tentatively allowed the publication of releases featuring the new-fangled hypervisor-based crack.>The main downside of this method is that it is unsafe, as it requires disabling bootloader integrity checks and enabling test mode in order to load system drivers without a valid digital signature. This in itself makes your rig vulnerable to bootkit viruses, which gain control over the system even before it and its antivirus software start up. Don't do this if you have anything to lose.>At the same time, it's worth noting that the aforementioned features only appeared in Windows Vista, and disabling them won't infect your computer on its own. Moreover, bootkits still exist today despite all modern precautions, and they survive by exploiting vulnerabilities in signed drivers or even motherboard firmware, rather than hoping a user has disabled system parameters that everyone has lived with for the last 20 years.>At least 10 years ago, there was already software on the tracker whose crack required disabling these same protections. Everything new is just well-forgotten old stuff.

Personally, I am using a laptop. Some ThinkPad models are not as modular. I have an X1 Carbon; it is very good. I enjoy being able to move around. Sometimes the couch is uncomfortable, so I want to sit at my desk. Sometimes the desk is uncomfortable, so I want to sit on the couch. I respect the quality of ThinkPads. Do you prefer laptops (not limited to ThinkPads) or desktops?
>>108526692Probably you could render animations on laptop if you're starting out and doing small stuff. I was about to buy a desktop for that, but I realized I'm kinda bullshitting myself about needing a strong rig.
>>108525456Only have a desktop atm. It nice but I'd love to buy one of these comfy looking small 14 inch Thinkpad soon I case I have to leave home for extended periods of time, but I don't know which models are good and which aren't. I need to look into this.
>>108525456I prefer desktop, since it's more comfortable for me, than a laptop. But I bought a old, broken Thinkpad recently for testing or when I'm traveling. Had to replace the fans. Sometimes I miss them though. They sounded like an old tractor starting up, when they start spinning.
>>108532211I recently started learning blender. I'm using an rtx 4050 laptop. It's pretty usable for what I need. I'll upgrade to a desktop when I realize that I need it. For all I know I might stop fucking around with blender come next week so buying a whole desktop would be a waste

Regarding the news of oneplus closing or some shit, is the OnePlus Nord 5 still worth buying? It’s pretty much the only phone in my 500$ budget with decent/good gaming performance and 512GB storage. Will OPPO give future updates and such? What will happen exactly?

Are you device hoarding? I bought a used Samsung S24 on eBay because I wanted a better camera and battery life for my vacation. I just sold my old S21 FE to someone else. Why would you spend $1k for a brand new device that is only marginally better than older models? Plus I'm saving the planet by reusing old devices.
>Why would you spend $1k for a brand new device that is only marginally better than older models?Normalfags buy them for performative reasons/to impress fellow goyim but that's harder for them to do now that the economy is worse. I personally haven't upgraded my phone for 6 years and still don't feel a need to.
>>108525913Why upgrade when more and more often these so called "upgraded" models actually have fewer features?
>>108526331Sounds like an iProblem.
>>108525913>americans hanging onto devices is BAD>actually, businesses hang onto them for longer!so talk to the fucking businesses and leave us alone. phones have been able to run genshin at 60fps for years now. there's no reason to upgrade.
>"hoarding"They're already double dipping when they sell refurbs. Because people are too scared to negotiate and clean their own electronics without a middleman facilitating the transaction for the biggest slice of the pie.
are pc speakers still a thing? i don't want to wear headphones on my head all day like some call center employeebut when i search for PC speakers there are barely any for saleam i supposed to drop hundreds of dollars on an audio interface and some proper speakers or is there some middle ground
>>108526100I have the 10 inch sub so the main drivers are highpassed anyway. But in the end the sound I got was really good just took a little tweaking. I have never heard speakers that sound so clean, I didn't realize how much harmonic distortion and frequency imbalances affect the sound until I got them.>>108526155>They never sounded good to begin withThey sounded good if you had never heard anything else. I had some pretty entry level ones but they had these sort of bullet shaped main speakers instead of the rectangle ones so the main drivers were a little bigger, no tweeter, and a small sub. I'd never had a sub before, I'd only ever had really really beat up old second hand speakers from old stereo systems. Nothing ever tuned to really crank out sub frequencies, even if it was pretty limited compared to a proper sub. So for me that was great, hearing those double kick drums just pumping, drum n bass that actually vibrated desk, it was incredible. Of course when I finally got some good ones I realized they were absolute garbage, but you can't really get that effect with headphones or cheap bluetooth speakers so they were cool at the time.
>>108530663>I have the 10 inch sub so the main drivers are highpassed anywaysome form of highpass is pretty much always a good idea, with or without a sub
>>108530916You know they have that low shelf switch on the back right? I forget what it's called but you can bring the lows down by either -2 or -4 which is meant to compensate for them booming a bit much if they are near a wall.
