My dads worked in software his whole life. I asked once if he had ever knew anyone who did pentesting, and he told me about this fella:
>Tall, at least 6' 1"
>Muscular
>By my dads estimate he was 230 lbs
>Had briefly worked for his company in the early 2000s, had been a name in pentesting since at least the late 90s
>Notoriously bad tempered, had been fired twice
>Notoriously skilled, had been rehired twice
>Bald like an egg
>Purposefully intimidated his coworkers to get them to do what he wanted
>Wore designer clothing near exclusively, not cheap brands either. Gucci, Valentino, etc;
>Constantly talked up his achievements
>Self taught guitarist
>Martial artist
>Member of an Eastern European black metal band (alongside his wife; theyre both Americans)
>Fired for a final time (thus far) after he told his boss to fuck off

I got in trouble for using 1/12th of the entire k-12 school's server hard drive space for mp3's.
Had to remove them... by putting them on the local hard drive of my homeroom teacher's computer

that's okay, it's just always worth mentioning the 6xx when that particular headphone comes up
>You can say "m8 spend a lil extra for the next level up, it's worth it" to literally anything, about my car, my computer, my fucking toothbrush. Doesn't change the fact that >$200 is my budget. Maybe when I'm not getting fucked in the ass on a daily basis I'll think about buying a more expensive toy.

Wireless cans being such a scam are what got me back down the rabbit hole this year.
>>
>>108115210
I know some normalfags with unbelievable hearing loss who buy them, the same person willingly creates retarded amounts of noise with open backs, then complains about having outside noise, buys $400 anc instead of turning off a radio.
It seems to me that entire industry is some nu-beats marketing for normalfags who normally wouldn't even buy headphones, or care for music. It really is the strangest thing i've come across. If you need them that's one thing, but the normal fags who buy shit for fashion have ruined it for all the ones who need it, at least from my observations. I can't see it ever getting better

Other business laptops are welcome in /tpg/ (Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook)

Why ThinkPad?
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap
>Utilitarian design: e.g. mix of old and new ports, stable keyboard layout
>Easy to repair, upgrade (some models) & maintain thanks to readily available service manuals, spare parts easy to obtain
>Usable in cramped quarters thanks to the TrackPoint

Can't seem to get the touchpad working on this T14 G3 (AMD) after I wiped it and installed W10 LTSC on it, any tips? Went into the BIOS, it's enabled and working there, so it's not a hardware failure, but Device Manager doesn't list it. I've already installed the Synaptic Fingerprint Reader and ELAN Trackpoint drivers from Lenovo's website, and Commercial Vantage doesn't have anything for me to install, so I'm at a loss.

youre retarded if you think that will be worth the time and money let alone be reasonably possible short of using an sbc and making some boards for status lights keyboard etc, which will be ass work still. Anyway I found you can shoehorn t61p mobo into most of the old gen stuff even the 14" t60 4:3, so you can get a nvidia fx570m and mod a quad2extreme to work in em, i bet that variety isnt much different inside. I had to sacrifice having a working optical drive when i used a widescreen board in a small and 4:3 t60 but i found an sata to ultrabay adapter that i cut down to fit and make use of it still with an msata drive

Which one is the current industry standard? BTRFS or ZFS?

Is btrfs rust of fs? Everyone seems to recommend it, but there's little usage

ZFS is better. BTRFS has no use case that ZFS doesn't handle better, more gracefully, or more reliably.

>>
>>108115548
You probably have ext4.
If you don't have multiple drives (such as in a laptop), you probably don't get much benefit from either ZFS or btrfs.
Either one can be a good idea on a desktop if you have multiple drives, but if you're not interested in learning the various CLI tools for either one, you won't get the full benefit there either.
>>
>>108115564
>>108115585
ZFS now has vdev expansion, so they're basically identical in features. I think ZFS remote backup capability for encrypted volumes is still superior? There are minor differences, but that's the only one I can think of that even matters?
>>
>>108115548
ext4, which is perfectly fine for desktop use.
Brtfs is good if you have a decent drive that can handle CoW and snapshots, but it and ZFS are just better for multiple drives or servers.

C++ - would there be interest in a super portable/retro 2d games engine (simple video/audio io, later maybe some higher stuff like simple visual novel or simple rpg maker type of thing?).

The gimmick is to reach platforms that are used mostly by crazy people (aka computer geeks).
Raylib cover many but not all, Allegro fills in some, and some consoles still need help there (unles LLMs lied to me about the situation).

if you make an engine/framework that can make games to the ps1 I would absolutely use it

would just go with SDL like a normal human being

question is if you want some higher level drawing library.
SDL2 has software SDL_Surface, SDL_Renderer with GPU support but idk how ported that is, and direct access to the platform API such as OpenGL and Vulkan. but there is barely any usable drawing helpers. You have to do any 2D vector graphics drawing yourself. Raylib is way better in this regard but still pretty limited.
SDL3 has some GPU abstraction but it only covers modern OpenGL, Vulkan, Metal and Direct3D 12. Definitely not usable on WinXP.
>>
>>108109164
It'd be of interest to me, since I've been working on a similar engine for my own game, albeit with a smaller scope of supported systems (DOS, Windows 95 and newer)
>>
>>108112787
>Why not SDL
Op says he wants DOS support. SDL does not support DOS.
>SDL3 has some GPU abstraction but it only covers modern OpenGL, Vulkan, Metal and Direct3D 12. Definitely not usable on WinXP
You can use SDL3 on XP. If its a driver issue, how modern of Opengl are we talking about? You can get up to the GTX 780 on XP, and it supports Opengl 4.6
>>
>>108109972
not op, but we have a pandemic of "retro" indie games being made that have offensively high system requirements for what they. Look at something like GameMaker, it requires Windows 10 and a 64-bit processor despite being used almost exclusively for 2d pixel art games. You can't even run it through VXkex, because it uses DX12 api calls, despite not even using DX12.

they are probably complying because
a) complying is less of a problem than not complying. Facebook and X have legal and commercial identities in the UK and CAN be fined by OFCOM. 4chan doesn't have any presence in the UK so all OFCOM can do is send them threatening emails and try to get UK ISPs to block 4chan.
b) the UK is doing it now, but soon these sort of controls will spread to other countries, states in the US are already looking at implementing similar controls. The companies that comply now are getting ahead of the curve.

Having worked in international companies for a while, one or two Chinese in an otherwise Western team are fine workers and actually enjoyable to work with.
As soon as you put a third in there it turns to shit though. My theory is that once you have 3 chinks in a room, face saving culture takes over, and nothing they do can be trusted any more.

Indians are a different beast and chinks shouldn't be compared to them. I have yet to meet one that can be trusted with writing a hello world.
