I own a FW16 and I regret it because they STILL have not acknowledged the thermal throttling that happens in the original batch and sent replacements or a method to fix it.

The "closest" they've come to acknowledging it is giving a shunt (that they no longer offer, thanks Jeetman and Linus Sebastian!), and that's it. Their internal support lines have NO FUCKING IDEA about it and the Jeet CEO hasn't acknowledged it.

Tech Tubers like Linus or Level1 haven't acknowledged it either.

#define __NR_sendfile            40

https://man7.org/linux/man-pages/man2/sendfile.2.html

this guy is pretty cool! i think i mentioned him in one of the earlier threads. quite handy for saving you the effort of all the stat, buffer, read, write nonsense.
i was a bit torn about whether to include
copy_file_range
in today's thread, but it's distinct enough that it will get its own. it's basically the same thing, though (same for splice and tee lol). linux really loves to do that, huh?
anyway, yeah, great syscall! highly recommend using it where you can. in a lot of places it's going to be just a drop in replacement.
oh, one last point. the dual use of the offset argument is pretty neat. i really like that

>you should be able to just pass a very large value into count
HUH, I suppose you're right. I like to read for small files and mmap for larger files, though, so that'd still require stat'ing.
>i am sick :(
that's not nice:( get well soon!
>i wouldn't call it user oriented, really. it's getpid/gettid, not getuid. it's mostly useful for knowing when you're off in a thread
you are logging programme state into an external file for later reading, aren't you? I tend to just write "could not [do operation]" and then exit, retrying the entire thing with a debugger.

I legit never understood the business case behind Postman. It's an entire company built around "test your API".

They have slick branding, and a cool graphic novel. But I'm somewhat amazed they built a business around API testing.
What am I missing?

Has anyone here ever managed to get paying with NFC with your phone working on a custom rom or a linux OS?
I tried custom roms many times and I liked them, but I returned to android everytime just because of the NFC paying issue.
If somebody fixes the issue for me, I'll ditch Android for good.

Also, there's an argument that narcissists that have a mental disorder aren't malicious and therefore evil, but, if you accept that premise, then they aren't evil in the same way that a Co60 rod in the same room as you isn't evil.

narcissism doesn't make any sense to be
do other people really not want to be loved and thought highly of?
It's the norm to be totally fine with being unloved dirt beneath everyone else? Well to be fair, that may be true.

None of the highly-regarded programmers/software architects are really overrated. Even Dijkstra with some of his nonconforming opinions was great because of exactly that. Onions incarnate.

Consider that Discord is going to implode very soon, and I'm happy of that (I never liked it), due to the censorship solutions they're going to implement, due to the "underage safety", to not mention all the other spyware messengers around, the best is returning to IRC. Thing is that it seems is almost desert right now. So where to connect?

Possibly networks with a serious IRC daemon, not like IRCnet where your hostname/IP is shared with the world in clear view.
