consider how shit w11 is, then imagine if it were 5X worse, and 5X as expensive.
that's the steaming heap of pajeet shit that is crapple pajeetOS, running on its own custom tailored specially designed first party apploo hardware
these curryniggers can't even update their own pajeetOS on their own 100% in house 100% custom designed currybooks without bricking them

now imagine if these street shitters released their curryniggerOS to run on completely unsupported hardware with drivers made by onions boy hobbyists, that's pajeetintosh
macos is the biggest heap of currynigger shit in the history of operating systems, and releasing it on PC would finally expose this curryniggerOS to the world for the steaming heap of pajeet shit that it is

there is no equivalent to macs

macs have:
>soldered SSD/RAM/WLAN
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>when pajeetOS runs out of RAM it swapfile rapes the SSD to death within 3 years
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>when the SSD dies it bricks your entire currybook because the EFI is stored on thesoldered SSD to save $0.05 on a dedicated chip
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>components serial numbered and tied to the motherboard to prevent repair and replacement (including battery)
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>riveted keyboard that requires total destruction of the chassis to replace
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs

Yes. Time critical and high performance functions, especially on DSPs, are routinely written in assembly code.
>>
>>107826989
>is ASM still really used?
For sure. Usually not in large amounts, but for critical functions, especially where compilers have a tendency to choose to do something deeply suboptimal.
It's a bit more common in firmware than in application code.

When I was in highschool in Croatia we have specialistic ex-commie "blue collar" highschools and I loved tech so I went into electrical engineering highschool ("low voltage" path as it was called). Aside general highschool shit we learned how semiconductors worked, general electrical engineering, amplifiers, some informational theory, etc etc and a tiny bit of low level programming like in assembly and matlab. We had to code up a microcontroller and flash LEDs in a row in specific manner. Was fun.
Then in college me and buddy of mine liked to joke that most of the electrical engineers there are "arduino engineers" so I tried hard learning more about PIC and ARM architectures and how I could code in assembly rather than in that arduino ide. Did some pcb stuff, coded few microcontrolers. Was fun.

Then after a while didn't touch it because I went into Python as a career path. Wanted to touch on reverse engineering a bit so I started heavy learning asm but it never lead anywhere because I got demotivated and old. That shit is for hardocre no life autists. I enjoyed our little fling while we had it tho.

You CAN'T use Proton as some throwaway account. If you create a Proton email and then use it as an email verification for like siging up to a service/website, Proton will block the email and send you their own email explaining how they don't want you to use their e-mail as a throwaway.

Now if they supposedly aren't scanning your emails... then how tf would they know when you're being sent verification emails?
>>
>>107828453
for every 1 person I give my email to, I give it to 100 websites and half of them send a verification code. I get that maybe they don't want you to use protonmail as throwaway to spam other services with, but half the fucking emails I get are confirmation codes for signups and signins because I don't opt into any marketing fluff. Banning people for using their email in a way that almost every website in existence today makes you use it as a convention is a really weird policy.
>>
>>107828453
>Most commonly your account is flagged after signing up for something that sends a code to your e-mail for sign-up verification - lots of services do this.
Surely you mean if the only email activity on your account is solely receiving verification codes?
>>

maybe getting ten thousand emails per day from noreply.verification@website.com could be a hint.

They block you after 1st. If I remember correctly you have to wait either few days or a week after creating an account, before you can receive verification mail without account restrictions

I've been using Linux (nobara) for a month now. Should I be hibernating my PC? There's a 10% chance it fails whenever I click it, which I usually do when I turn in for the day, so the lights are still on when I go to my desk the next morning.

Should I just put it to sleep? The problem with sleeping is that there's a 30% chance it turns itself back on for some reason.

Zoomers probably don't even know what an OS is. They just use ithings and android and chrome books and consoles and cloud services and AI. They only know payed for nonsense. Want a movie pay streaming service want a game pay game pass want anything find some jew and pay it money. They are the "you will own nothing" generation. Also they are generally used to extremely basic gui so anything outside of that they will think is a virus or malware or some other nonsense boomers are honestly better with tech than them. I sent a zip file in a discord server once with some .ini files in it or something for a game I can't remember and some zoomers went crazy at out how I'm trying to infect their phone as it didn't recognise the file and they needed to pay to open a zip or something but they didn't even know what a zip was and called me a hacker I shit you not.

> In programming, it’s quite difficult to determine the point at which you actually know something versus when you don’t. A person may be strong in systems development, yet when interacting with someone of a comparable skill level who works in web development, they can feel incompetent.

Are there any objective metrics for assessing a developer’s level? For example, can someone who has built LFS be considered technically mature? Or someone who has reached a senior position? These are just examples. I’m interested in a subjective perspective on what criteria actually make sense for evaluating an engineer’s level.

Yes. Simply create a truth table for every single thing a programmer might know (based on questions one very single domain). You'll probably have to painstakenly fill in over 9000 forms, but it'll be the most detailed representation of the skills.

Write 2 basic tests which determine whether or not the person can solve basic problems by using variables and functions.
Write 1 complex test which determines whether or not the person can solve a multi-step problem.

They don't need to pass the test, but if they display an ability to break down a problem into smaller steps, then write functions, then you can bet that they will be able to write a large scale program given enough time if they *want* to.

A real method is just a checklist of program methodologies and evidence that they used such a methodology. Variables, using the variable correctly, int usage, operator usage +-/* modulus, function, using the function correctly, designing functions appropriately, recursion (very rarely useful), lambdas, external libraries, file usage, datatype class definitions, a math test can be very very good for long term aptitude. There is only 1 thing that matters and that is the will to do it. 10 years of will can prove to be surmounting in experience and skill so beyond that of other developers that catching up in speed may seem impossible.

I get you man, I lived through the 90s and today? Imagine that Crysis is almost 20 years now and it still looks GOOD even by today's standards. Sure, vidya might not be a good benchmark of all technology progress, but it still shows that we have stalled in some aspects. Hardware is vastly more powerful than in 2007 (although it has stalled in its own way - essentially being just buffed up hardware from mid 2000s) but software didn't follow. Instead of utilizing that power for improvements, developers used it to allow themselves to be more sloppy in their work, releasing shitty code is apparently allowed now because the hardware can make up for it.

>>107827496
My very professional guess is that Microsoft is getting more and more under pressure because of W11's issues that now the way they're using it is as a test ground for the theoretical Windows 12.

They're going to use 11 to test what works and what doesn't, what AI slop people actually use, what architecture changes they want to implement, and if their rumored plans to rewrite most of the OS with AI is even feasible. This means 11 is gonna get both worse and better in a variety of areas for at least another 2 years, then they announce the actual successor which is not gonna be a huge change in philosophy but it's gonna be good enough to please a huge chunk of people, kinda like W8 to W10
