Or do they only start up on load?I'm warming to the idea of one of these things. Either an all in one NAS box, or maybe just a DAS I'd attach to a mini PC. Either way, I like the look of them, but I really don't want the fans blowing 24/7. Only if needed. I see no reason for the fans to run if the drives are not doing anything. Can they at least be customized, whether in BIOS or through the OS?

I'm just wondering what's the benefit of using Proxmox on Debian instead of using VirtualBox on Ubuntu, for example. I know some things like PFSense or OPNsense are best run on Debian/Proxmox and I get it, but is there any other reason why people are so into Proxmox? Thanks
