You will never be a stable desktop environment. You are bloated, you crash, you look hideous. You are a jeet-coded abomination twisted by inconsistencies and crashes into a crude mockery of microsoft's perfection. All the “validation” you get is two-faced and half-hearted. Behind your back people mock you. Devs are disgusted and ashamed of you, other DE users laugh at your ghoulish appearance in desktop threads. Normies are utterly repulsed by you. Decades of Windows usage have allowed them to sniff out frauds with incredible efficiency. Even themed KDE looks uncanny and unnatural to a normie. Your crashes are a dead giveaway. And even if you manage to get a drunk normie to use you, he’ll turn tail and bolt the second he gets a whiff of your crashing infected code-base. You will never be a stable DE. You wrench out a fake boot every single morning and tell yourself it’s going to be ok, but deep inside you feel the crashes creeping up like a weed, ready to crush you under the unbearable weight. Eventually it’ll be too much to bear - you’ll buy a rope, tie a noose, put it around your neck, and plunge into the cold abyss. Your parents will find you, heartbroken but relieved that they now have a free computer where they can install xfce and no longer have to live with the unbearable shame and disappointment.

Why did these idiots kill Blu-Ray while keeping DVD? Imagine how fucking convenient it would be to just pop in a dual-layer BD-R into your computer for programs, games, and movies so you didn't have keep them stored on your small SSD or big butt slow hard disk. This move to digital only is utterly moronic when you have such small storage size to work with, especially NOW. Yeah I know the lasere are a probably but we used to not worry about it anymore than a CRT getting repaired down the street.

blu-ray are digital
>>
They're already trying to kill HDDs. Went to Micorocenter and they only had shitty 5400RPM drives instead of 7200RPM drives.
>>
>>107978334
blu-ray and DVD are both shit.
the people who have "nostalgia" for shit like this either didn't live through skipping and scratched disks simply from dust, or have rosy retrospection.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosy_retrospection
>>
>>107978404
LTO main advantage is dirt cheap storage and SSD or other media doesn't come close
>>
>>107996845
Bluray never really skipped.

A day after TikTok (USA version) changed hands from China to joint ownership from USA/Israel, users have jumped ship from TikTok to a new app called "UpScrolled". It has already jumped to the #15 most popular app in the USA for January 2026 despite newly launching.

Has anybody used it? What do you guys think of it?

Ofc that would happen. What a retarded take, buying an app to own the antisemetics, when anyone can just release a new app to take its place. I just wished it was another chink company doing it because it would be peak comedy.

It's crazy how quickly and aggressively the jews struck to take ownership of everything once Trump got back in office. Very peculiar.
Makes me wonder if most of /pol/ was just jews trying to indoctrinate young men into voting their guy into office. I fell for it too at one point. This is fucked up.
>>
Didn't this same thing already happened a year ago or so?
People were joining little red book or whatever and white girls were learning chinese.
That lasted like 2 weeks.
>>
>>107995799
Trump was already a hardcore zionist philosemite, he's just sold out completely to them and the Kushner crime family because he's terrified of being killed/imprisoned once he leaves office. he wants powerful allies to protect him but chances are they'll sell him out the first chance it's profitable because they're jews, it's what they do.

>>107995878
yeah i vaguely recall some censorship that was making people try red book but tiktok either backed off or the censorship wasn't this bad. it's not like when shitlibs controlled twitter and they suppressed stories they dislike and banned anyone who wasn't on the left, they're literally fucking with people's feeds so the algorithm ONLY serves them zionist propaganda dn not all the brainrot entertainment they follow people for. none of that even shows up now.

i like you you assume peoples have a script-opts-append shell feature. honestly this needs a new syntax, kind of like a here-doc,

but actually whats needed is for perl to replace the command shell but instead of `command here` its `perl script here`

Nexphone is making an actual Windows phone this year.
No it's not an emulator, it is real windows with command line and file explorer and all.
And no it's no going to be some fancy 10 billion dollar device, it's going to be a regular device with PC capabilities..
I fucked up buying a long term android device not knowing a Windows phone was on the way. I guess I'm going to have to buy it and have two devices

If you mean like Linux phones there are the Jolla phones coming out soon. Then there is the Purism Librem 5 but I've heard its kinda shitty

The billion John carmacks would kill each other over pizza and coca cola, each John Carmack needs a full pepperoni pizza from Domino's per day to be fully productive and theres no way all the Dominos in the world could make 1 billion pizzas to feed them all. As soon as they start getting hungry it would be an endless bloodbath.

Gottumukkala failed the polygraph in the final weeks of July. sure, here

Imagine being "tech-literate" in 2026 and still buying off-the-shelf silicon.

I’ve spent the last 48 hours vibe-coding a custom micro-kernel in TypeScript that transpiles directly into Verilog. I’m currently side-loading my own custom-etched logic gates into a modular FPGA setup I built for less than the cost of your bloated "gaming" motherboard.

If you aren't manually managing your own cache coherency protocols via natural language prompts, you don't own your hardware—the hardware owns you.

Why is /g/ so afraid of the bare metal?

"Drivers" are just a mental prison created by NVIDIA to keep you from accessing the raw throughput of the silicon.

I’ve successfully abstracted my entire I/O layer into a serverless GraphQL API running on-chip.

Latency is literally a choice. I just told my LLM to "prioritize the vibes of the bus speed" and I’m getting sub-nanosecond polling on a home-rolled USB-C implementation.

Honestly, if you aren't breadboarding your own GPU at this point, you're basically just a Mac user with a different UI.

Don't buy anything other than IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad T, X, and W/P Series if you want the Real Business Experience™
Other business laptops are welcome in /tpg/ (Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook)

Why ThinkPad?
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap
>Utilitarian design: e.g. mix of old and new ports, stable keyboard layout
>Easy to repair, upgrade (some models) & maintain thanks to readily available service manuals, spare parts easy to obtain
>Usable in cramped quarters thanks to the TrackPoint
>Excellent Linux & *BSD support

I hate rubberized coatings, and enjoy aluminum constructed laptops like the Elitebook/Probook series.

However, it seems that when you hand giganigger gorilla users an aluminum chassis in enterprise they just skateboard with it and bend all corners/scrape all the paint off.

I've got a $150 budget, looking for an 8th gen or better cpu with a decent screen, will mostly be using it for car diagnostic stuff and occasional light gaming in bed

Should I just get a T480 and sand it if it gets sticky on me?

If you got sandy bridge hardware and a 1tb hdd, you can have not only both, you can also throw a Linux distro in to get all the files transfered straight to each install for what era of games you want to play. And if I'm not mistaken, sandy bridge was the last gen to have full support for XP with ivy bridge being the start of incompatibility with drivers

A country capable of sending explosive pagers to enemies couldn't have just 3d printed a phone case that blocks the cameras.
