Hey anon just wanted to say thanks for that guy's tool that is one of the best utilities I've seen in a long time. There are a couple of drivers that are kinda stuck in a "can't install" loop, but I was able to update 99% of them and all my peripherals are working way better than before, especially the media center keyboard we use when we switch the pc input over to the tv in the living room.

Hey guys I'm in a bit of a pickle and looking for some advice.

For at least a decade Honeyview has been my goto for images, until just recently when I started saving images in HEIC format. I did all the research, ran my own comparisons from shooting in RAW and checking JPEG vs HEIC and it's true, it just is the superior evolution of the lossy compression format.

So honeyview has apparently turned into paid scamware if you want HEIC support and there's allegedly privacy concerns and whatnot. I saw there's qView but my muscle memory is so ingrained with honeyview I honestly hate how little QOL features it has and lack of shortcuts.

Is there a true FOSS successor to honeyview? Should I just suck it up and learn qView?

Nah hes dead right bro, i have spent probably 1000 hours or more over the last 18 months trying to get games working on debian and arch. Everything else was satisfactory, just gaming has been a struggle. Ultimately i either stopped playing the games that arent compatible or reinstalled windows 10 on the backup drive for the one game i want to play that just updated to unreal engine 5 with forced DX12.

I get that older games and your little japanese slideshow book porno games made by people using WYSIWYG game editors works fine, but its beyond broken and useless for any of the following categories:

Racing games (hardware wheel support usually broken)
VR (LMAO EVEN)
Anything made after 2020 because of DX12 being a joke on linux
Anything thats competitive with modern anti-cheat (thanks michaelsoft for paying off the AC devs to fuck over linux users)

Be happy to see your oldest child get married and have kids while your youngest is graduating from High School and going to university.

Also he happy that you got to be a kid in the 80s and a teen in the 90s and your 20’s were the 2000s.

My house will be paid off in 6 years and my wife will retire with a pension in 8 years at age 55. I will keep working from home as long as possible to keep saving for retirement.

Another one down! My fellow Americans, we are winning the long battle.
Stauton VA is another on the list of cancelling Flock contracts and getting AI surveilance cameras out of their city and allowing the people to "get a breath of fresh air without us knowing".

Holy shit, there's a FOSS reverse engineered operating system based on windows when it was good (up through 7). This is the perfect solution, nobody has to use winjeet 10 and nobody has to use linux. Why isn't anyone talking about this? It's been under steady development so it's likely going to be finished soon.

Yeah, the whole reactos thing seems like some retarded university research project not intended for real world usage.
Despite being based in Russia they feel the need to follow American copyrights. They basically don't know what the fuck they're doing and it's a dead, irrelevant project. I don't think it even works on real hardware.
>What they should have done is developed each module to 100% before touching anything else
Agree
>>
>>107737482
>What they should have done is developed each module to 100% before touching anything else. And they should have tested each individual dll separately dropped into a win2k3 install. Had they done this they could have had it done 10 times over by now. Windows is not that complex.
Then why haven't you built your own OS already?

>>107736259
It is much nicer. I've had it spun up projects for me very quickly. If the project is small and simple it can slam dunk. Evem. Better if you skeleton out your architecture first.

However if the project is sufficiently large or complex it's still retarded. I had it try and do disassembly ASM docs of an NES game. It told me it was done 6 times when it wasn't. Then the same thing when porting to C. I got it to finally render the main menu of a game with the right palette, sprites, and text. It couldn't get the cursor or music right though

>The hardware is good
It's not really distinguishable from any other high end laptop chipset. What matters is software.
>Muh battery life
Yeah a 70Wh battery and hyper aggressive power management software will do that.
If by hardware you mean that fat fucking battery, sure. The actual silicon isn't special though.
>Muh less heat
Probably the one real advantage the hardware has, especially for a laptop, so I'll grant you this one too.

>Please, convince me not to.
If it's newer than an M2 it's not going to work very well, if at all.
It's also based on Fedora, so it's really just going to be even shittier than MacOS.
GPU drivers work, but suck because Apple's hardware isn't designed for Kronos APIs.
