What is better: a 14" or a 16" MacBook Pro? I can't decide. It's unironically too difficult to decide. On one hand, I would prefer the larger display, on the other hand I use my laptop exclusively when I can't use my PC to do something, which means I need a laptop for use around the house and carry it outside first and foremost. I absolutely do not want to use an external monitor almost ever though.

The only laptops that are comfortable for some actual work are the 17 inch ones, which are too big to be easily portable anymore.
For things that aren't work (or gaming, i guess) or are just looking at pdfs, the size of the screen doesn't matter much. Imo it is always best to go for the 14 inch.
>>
>>107857775
Even 15" feels pretty big, especially if you have one that is built to do shit and has fans.

avif is going to be rendered like hot garbage when (1) an embedded device you use does not have the die space dedicated to decoding av1, or you don't have the drivers to use the media decoders (linux mainline), or (2) the format is old and busted and nobody adds a dedicated encoder for av1 (and vp8/9) anymore because they have to contend with allocating massive die spaces for av3, av4, av5, av6 and av7.
>>
>>107857654
AV1 is supposed to be the next H.264 but ARM hardware support for it is lagging pretty badly. Maybe only like 10% of phones/tablets seem to be able to hardware decode AVIF right now. To be fair this isn't AV1's fault, it charges $0 royalty fees so it's not clear why everyone isn't adopting it yet.
>>
>>107857700
the royalties were always inconsequential next to the NRE cost of designing the silicon. the only stakeholder with which the royalties can be considered substantial are the cloud middlemen, hence why it needs to be shilled.
>>
>>107857700
i dunno, daiz. it's definitely not because your favorite video codec tel avif is slow as shit.

They hire each other. Most people have not figured out that getting a job 99.999% of the time boils down to whether or not you know someone, or know someone who knows someone. The first wave of jeets undercut the white employees (if not getting them fired outright) and hoarded knowledge like dragons. Then they just began hiring each other. They are allowed to be openly prejudiced because guys like Trump and Elon use them as a sycophantic slave caste.

accumulate control over essential functions and refuse to divulge information about how they work to other employees
this works best if you're otherwise likeable and very available
if you take a lot of time off or are just kind of a shit, you'll get a lot of pressure to train fellow employees in your arcane knowledge, and preventing being forced into doing that, you'll have to employ a lot of hemming and hawing and obfuscation and misdirection
>ahh, yeah, well, it's really complicated, and i don't think Jenkins has the time to learn that
>oh, yeah, i've been thinking about that in terms of the company's overall knowledge management effort, hey, where is that anyway?
>ooh, sorry, i know what needs to be done, but i'm working at 110% already to get it done, and i don't have the time to train someone on top of that
it often involves some very nasty office politics, as well

with some effort, yeah, potentially faster.
Typically you'd use the reference compiler for development which is a bit slower in program performance but faster to build.
Then you use LDC for release builds (LLVM backend).

in my experience on my desktop openbsd worked better, several things on freebsd didnt work where they worked perfectly out of the box on openbsd, like the media keys on my keyboard, suspending and even rebooting lmao
on freebsd when rebooting it just hangs forever unless i hit the power button to shut it down and it also doesnt wake up from suspending, i just get a black screen and have to force a shutdown to fix it

OpenBSD works really good on laptops since devs dogfood it with their own setups. You may have to poke around with mixerctl to get audio working if it doesn't work out of the box

It is a foul demon that takes control of my laptop and makes it do things like comment on 4chan. The video is a demo. Bout to refactor it so I can pass in the name of any 4chan thread I want.

It uses applescript. In other words, no lincucks allowed.

I actually find the RPN worse than a normal calculator, I know it's supposed to be faster when you get good at it or something but it seems like it's just more key presses for the same calcuations. Did I fuck up and should I have gotten a 12C platinum??

I use my 12C to calculate the data I'm putting into my smartphone. For example if I ate 295 calories for lunch and 1260 for dinner, and burned 900 calories at work. You could have cells for this, but that's annoying if you're tracking for every day of the month.
