Is it better to get a Mayflash HDMI adapter, or just a generic component to hdmi converter like picrel? Not looking to spend too much, just something simple.

I wish I built a computer in 2019. I'd be happy with a 2070 today, and I could make it last. I think I'm going to be stuck on my toaster for the rest of my life at this rate.

I mean why be a baby duck (Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10) when you can be a penguin (Linux/SteamOS/Mint/Fedora)?

>You get Steam working again. In fact the steam hardware survey revealed more people use Linux than Windows 7.
>You get real Firefox, Brave and Google Chrome instead of hacked together GitHub projects
>You get a choice of desktops, including ones with Aero Themes.
>Linux supports your old hardware and doesn’t need a TPM or a 8th Gen CPU.
>No end of support schedules, use your hardware as long as you like.

It's 2026, 6 years since Microsoft abandoned you, it's time you upgrade to a real OS.

I'm thinking about transferring my esim from my Samsung a16 to my pixel 8a.

My a16 can't upload things in Chrome anymore, always refreshes the page when I try. Spotify crashes sometimes..

My pixel is way snappier, smaller, I can actually upload things etc.

But I had my a16 for longer and have been using it as my primary phone for so long. It's my baby. I don't want to desert it like that.

What do?

It's not, though. Take a look at the average Arch package - it's compiled with all the options, maximum bloat. The kernel? It's bloatmaxxed with all the drivers and then some.
Now, that's a good thing if you want that... but if you're some hyper minimalist freak who can't stand bloat at all, you're gonna pull your hair out and install Gentoo.

You can recreate the PS2 lighting and missing models etc with mods, plus you can fix some of the stuff that will remain broken forever in the PS2 version

>Use KDE gayland, everything is slow, low fps, input lag, weird frame pacing that doesnt feel smooth even with a smooth frametime graph in games

>Use X11 with Xmonad Tiling window manager, It just werks, everything werks, no latency or input lag
>High FPS, gaming just werks and I get 20fps+ more than gayland for some reason and its buttery smooth
>Fast with zero bloat, Configure everything to my liking

At this point, I wont even use any desktop environment on linux if it isn't X11. Even XFCE is dead to me because it has wayland support. I will never support anything wayland based on linux.
I'm X11 pilled.

Does X have a tiling window manager with at least a short window moving animation?

A tiny animation goes a long way. Instead of pushing a button combination and having your brain do a quick inefficient "spot the difference".
>>
so I'm not the only one who noticed it every time? I keep thinking "surely wayland is way better now" but no it's fucking broken and shitty every fucking time I try to use it for more than like a day or 2. Never bothered with sway or hyperland
>>
>>107728902
>Never bothered with sway or hyperland
the first 2 things I'd try with wayland. Fuck Gnome and fuck KDE, I don't want them on either x11 or wayland.

Same. Accessing [] and {} is so fucking painful on a Finnish layout.
Either I have to do some retarded finger gymnastics or I have to cross my hands :D
For those who don't know you have to press alt gr + 7890 to type those characters.
On top of that you lose the right alt key which makes a lot of key combos really annoying to press.
Whoever came up with this needs to be shot.

works in my datacenter...
all the three manufacturers have the same defect rates overall, some serials are known to have slightly higher defects especially on particular capacities like above 28TB or with hamr but that's about it, it's usually easy to id and avoid them.

>>107728534
high-capacity datacenter hdd have a special noise they make every 5seconds (no, not the zfs 5s write), it's called preventive wear leveler and iut's a known thing in the dc world but I've seen many average coomsumers thinking their hdd was broken because of it.

I (we at work) have more issues with wd drives desu and it's getting worse with time, I don't know what's happening at this company but it really looks like they're giving up on making good stuff, it would not surprise me if wd sells itself and kills the wd brand.
>>107728886

you guys are talking about hitachi and not toshiba which is still one of the three manufacturers and make good drives
