Let's say the US military decided to adopt a bullpup rifle. Do you think they could improve it to a point that it could surpass the AR15 platform?

I get the impression that it's just a few innovations away from achieving that status. If they could make the triggers match the AR platform it would be difficult argue that it isn't superior.

It occured to me that CT could enable a rifle with all the benefits of a bullpup, but none of the shortcomings except maybe the trigger. Externally, the rifle would look like a conventional one, with the magazine placed ahead of the grip. But internally, the cartridges could be pushed backwards and feed into the front of the moving chamber, so the chamber could be placed further back, close to where it would be in a bullpup (relative to the pistol grip)

> electronic primers

How does this work? What are the benefits? Could they be made vertically shorter to permit greater case capacity? Could case heads be stronger and withstand greater pressure before expelling gas out the primer pocket?

NTA. MP7 doesn’t count. It is a semi-bullpup. A pistol with an upper receiver.

Between a Mossberg 590 and a Remington 870, which should I keep? Recently was given an 870 and I don't really care to have two shotguns.

If you like shooting the clays, but want to do it cheap, just buy the flats of shells that go on sale during Dove season. They're usually the #6~#8 shot.
It's not til you get really good that you need to worry about buying specialized trap/skeet loads.

I love a sxs for clay shooting. Nothing quite feels as clean and crisp as getting 2 clays back to back with a good sxs. I don't own one myself because I have pumps and don't want to add anything until I have another safe though.

Which caliber is better? Does the shorter length of the .308 while being mostly the same ballisticly make it better, or does the slightly longer length and ability to use heavier grain bullets of the 30-06 make it better?
Or is 30-06 better because it sounds cooler and is an American classic?

The deer I ahor with 140gr 6.5 creed took one step before he flopped over and by the time I had walked up to him (75yds) he had slipped onto the afterlife. 6.5creedmore is plenty for a deer. I find it to be an excellent intermediate between 243 and 308
>>
>>64678868
>using outdated and hard to convert units of measure just to spite the Euros
>>
>>64664630
First of all, the caliber is exactly the same .308; it is the cartridge that's different.
That said, .308 is cheaper and gives very close to the same performance as .30-06 in their respective factory loads. So for the vast majority of shooters .308 is the superior choice.
However, .30-06 has a greater case capacity and therefore greater flexibility for hand loads and boutique rounds. So for those shooters that hand load or are chasing niche performance; .30-06 is the superior choice.
If you are a military or police force, the savings in weight and material in both the cartridge and the gun that shoots it makes .308 the vastly superior choice.
tl;dr : depends on who you are and what you're doing with the round. Mostly .308, but sometimes .30-06.

You laugh, but there are people out there who will actually think this. Ruger, a publicly traded company with no secrets in terms of company assets, has a hidden luxury gun company that they started decades ago and has it's own well known history, is a secret plot to sell unsafe guns for less money than they would get by selling those same guns through the secret subsidiary that they set up 50 years ago.

It's not quite as fun as these direct-fire mechs shooting and punching each other, but is a more credible niche I can imagine legged-vehicles fulfilling.

Javelin JVN-10F
Javelin JVN-10N
Locust LCT-1V

Stinking Dracs
Jenner JR7-D
Panther PNT-9R
Whitworth WTH-1

What you want is to use them for self-propelled artillery.

If the advantage of mech legs is that they could reach places that treads can't, it doesn't make sense to bring them to locations where wheeled/treaded vehicles already are.

Instead, you might use a mech up at high alpine elevations, on a canyon floor, etc. to hold your MLRS/field gun.

Still reeling from the sheer retardation of the Battleship proposal, plus that it'll be replacing the DDG(X) project.

But the FF(X) looks good. It won't have VLS in it's first flight, but it'll have an established supply chain and available logistics for repair and maintenance. As long as they don't try to make more capable than it needs to be, i think it'll be a good boat.
