Is now a good time to join the US military? I'm on the fence... but I also don't have anything going on as a civilian.

Any branch/job recs? I feel kinda burnt out on life, maybe a change of pace would be nice. I don't really care for the current admin but it's just a job.

Hijacking this thread with a question, is there a civilian alternative to the coast guard if you simply want to help people stranded or sinking or is the USCG the only organization available that would allow me to do that?
>>
it's not bad. consider it a place to lay your head (and the benefits that come with it) while you actively plan for the future. those 4 years will go by QUICK.

pick smart job (try to get clearance)
use tuition assistance asap
secure job with defense contractor etc at best
maybe federal agency as backup
at worst, commission with degree
or you can go the fun route and do something cool, then figure all your shit out in college later, but this seems to be where it falls apart for most vets.

it will change you. it could make you bitter. it could make you stoic. who knows. veteran suicide rates are up there. i can guarantee most of your remaining innocence will probably fade. but then again, your wagie job will do this too.
but you really shouldn't. you might still do it anyway tho. i was told not to and did it out of spite.

No. See it as a warning on how to approach your life. Your entire approach here is so fucking retarded that you don't even have the right starting questions OR attitude.

I'll even break that shit down for you slightly. "nothing going on" is VERY different for different people. Can you flail your way through 2 years of community college or 4 years of state college without picking up huge debt and THEN go in? Are you functional in another language, particularly one that the US might shoot people in?

Are we talking about Doordash class or living on EBT subwagie kind of "nothing going on"?

Take a practice ASVAB and practice SAT and ACT just to have some idea of what's up.

By measuring the on and off threshold, the leakage, and also the heat generated under some typified standard setting compared to the ideal range.
But in any case it shouldn't be difficult or argued against to have a handful of spare modules on hand for critical, high wear parts of a device.

So here is my glorious Century Arms AK after a fire and 4 years rusting in a scrap heap.

A couple folks i know have been watching youtube and gotten into restoration, they are competing with each other to see what is the worst one they can fix. Well i'm gonna give it a try.

As far as i can tell the lower and are fine, however all the sheet metal and most of everything else is unsalvageable. The plan is to whenever possible replace the irreparable components with items from a 'Asian parts kit' aka a Type 58.

So what is my first step, put in a 5 gallon bucket of water, dump in some Borax and hook up a battery charger?

>Do you have a milled receiver
Nope, looks like i can't really use this for that.

I'll find out about the rest in a day or two when i get the bolt and trigger out. I may be misjudging the receiver thickness simply because i can bend the parts around the mag well; that has clearly been very badly softened. The barrel is a few degrees off, i think the whole thing got slightly bent when the house collapsed on it but i can see down the barrel and the barrel itself doesn't seem bent.

I'll post more tomorrow after it has 12 hours to soak, maybe the sun will come out and i can run a battery charger for 5-6 hours to blast the hard to reach rust off of it.
>>
>>64703555
NTA, not sure what you exactly mean by that but just use a bore brush on a rod in a drill. Yes seriously. Or maybe plug the barrel up and fill it with rust remover beforehand as that makes rust renal a lot easier. Or, I don't suppose it happens to be chrome lined? That would make life easy...

>>64703722
This guy's recipe for rust remover/home made evaporust is the shit. I've used it on plenty of things. Stores in a 5 gallon bucket just like evaporust would, no mold or bacteria growing in it or anything even after months outside. Very stable and keeps well, strangely.
>>
>>64703829
>>64704392
Try that Backyard Ballistics rust remover. Shouldn't harm anything that isn't rust, maybe even better than electrolysis. I know he compared it to evaporust, vinegar, and citric acid and it did less harm. I think he also compared it to electrolysis but I could be wrong. Very simple, tldr:
>citric acid powder
>water
>washing soda (or slightly more using baking soda)
>dawn dish soap
The rust literally wipes off and citric acid powder is like $7 @ Walmart.

I did that trick to a shotgun someone found buried in his yard. I used baking soda I think. also you can't just hook up the battery charger to the gun. you need a sacrificial anode like inside your water heater. the other thing to keep in mind is that it only works with direct line of sight. it won't remove rust from the inside of something or anything that isn't facing your anode.

Very few to none these days. Back in the early 90's when I was first in a few big brass guys from the old days made a point about their range time. But even then they were a rare dying breed. They also didn't have a fucking fruit salad big enough to land a CH-47 on.. They actually had to do actual achievements for their ribbons. Hell, look at Dwight D. Eisenhower's uniform, then Norman Schwarzkopf's and compare either to that fucktard Mark Milley. Eisenhower was the fucking Allies Supreme Commander of God-damned World War two, Schwarzkopf ran Desert Shield/Storm with a war experienced Iraq.. Milley just ordered kids who chased niggers and camel fuckers in sandals and didn't fucking win shit... Tells you everything you need to know about how fucked the United States is and how far we shit ourselves in slipping values and standards. Our dress uniforms are starting to look as stupid as those north Korean shit show officer uniforms covered in fake awards.

Only if you do it with other people. And only if you are doing a combination of things (tactics, pt, shooting) Then it becomes "militia" training.
>>
>>64704616
you can get your anus investigated for "MILITARY AND MILITIA STYLE DRILLS AND TRAINING" which is arbitrary enough to mean almost anything, you can claim airsoft most of the time but again they can try to fuck you if they don't like the look of your penis after inspection
if you're "militia training" while also posting your little funny hitler memes and other retardation on telegram you are absolutely going to get fucked because now you're a political problem

armour is PPE like your shooting glasses and earpro as long as your area of the country isn't gay and retarded (the east) you can wear it no problem and you only need your gun license to legally own it
I want around the woods in full body armour and camo, no one says shit, neighbours are chill, never had a fish cop finger my anus, but I'm up north on the coast so your experience may vary

Someone in this country sure seems paranoid about being overthrown violently, huh? Wonder why they'd be so scared of that...

It's also retarded but at least the man is open about their intentions, versus the states where literally every single 'militia' group is a honeypot. All of them. No hyperbole.

I meant that they were selling take-offs from Ruger made rifles, anon. They do it for MK IVs as well. Just have to look in the clearance tab. $65 gets you a stripped receiver, looks like they may have bumped the price a little.

4th strongest on paper maybe, but as other people have noted it was a military that was

>almost entirely compromised of short-term conscripts who, even prior to the breakup, were of dubious loyalty to a state increasingly dominated by Serbs
>unable to develop nuclear weapons or ballistic missiles despite concerted effort
>stuck with a very large, but also very obsolete stockpile of reserve equipment (the JNA basically never threw anything away)
>stuck with a command structure that was still very much Soviet-style top-heavy, politically nepotistic, and tactically inflexible
>deficient or even completely lacking in technological fields such as stealth, night vision, computers, and aeronautics
