How are Norden submarines so stealthy?
9 replies and 2 images omitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>64759465
The exercise would be pointless if the surface commander were to issue a directive stating "German sub entering search area from S-SW". The idea is to detect it starting from a completely unknown position. In an actual combat situation, the enemy won't be courteous enough to announce their approach vector.
>>
>>64759625
Sure. But the nature of exercises gives submarines, and specifically diesel submarines, a huge advantage. This goes double for international exercises where you might not want to show every card in your hand, even to allies
>>
>>64759635
That's because those types of exercises are intended to replicate a surface action group or carrier battlegroup operating closer to the coast, where SSKs might be lurking. So some provision is given to the diesel boat, in order to actually reach the staging point.
>>
>>64759635
The old type 206 doesn’t have much endurance in them, being traditional diesel electric, so their chance of catching a CSG in the open ocean, or even anywhere that isn’t right off the coast is slim.
That said, an exercise like this is still valuable, since the modern DE with AIP engine will likely be much faster with longer endurance overall, so you can’t rely on the same trick of waiting until the sub battery is fully exhausted, as the case with older DE anymore

So I’d like one of the recreator Ak 12 pattern rifles, my first choice would be the 15 but they are out of stock so that leaves the 5.45 or 5.56. I have an m85 but I don’t think the mags are compatible. Any thoughts?
I figure the 5.56 is the obvious choice, I could just wait for the 15 to be available again.
>>

Meant to include

>>64759825
All I can speak on is the mags
M85 mags are based on the Galil mag so they won't be compatible with that rifle, yes. You need 74-footprint mags like for an AK-101.
All of these I'm listing here I've used and work fine for me for AK-101 pattern mags.
>AC Unity waffle mags for the AK-12 aesthetic, might be tight in your rifle though
>Bulgarian ones from gunmagwarehouse
>Circle 10 mags if you want to pay $50+ per mag
>5.45 mag follower swaps if you have a 3d printer and are willing to print in ASA or nylon, fuck Podarms prices
The Bulgy ones from gunmagwarehouse are probably your best bet in terms of quantity, price and reliability for 5.56.
Ymmv, of course. I see no issue directly with the rifle itself either, assuming you can get the rest of the parts easily.

Wait, so .380 is quite literally all you need?

Proverbially as well.
>>
>>64757664
No. .380 is roughly equivalent to .38 Special, which beat cops figured out was NOT enuff back in, like, the 30s. Their solution was .357 Magnum, which in theory IS quite literally all you need, except putting a rimmed cartridge in an automatic makes engineers cry tears of liquid dimethylmercury. 9mm and .38 Super (basically the same thing) are close enuff when you factor in rapid fire out of an automatic plus big magazine.

.35 rem is like 120 years old and you can get a henry 336 in .35 rem (I think it's only in the all brass receiver though).
marlin made 336s in .35 rem since like the 50s or something. it's been a meme for a while. marlin guns also just look better than Henry guns. for some reason henry just makes the ugliest guns known to man. the only Henry gun that looks nice is the engraved? wildlife model that's only in .30-30 with the gold deer or .45-70 with the elk and bear and even then the stock on the .30-30 looks worse than a marlin 336 stock.
>>
>>64756670
>the only Henry gun that looks nice is the engraved?
The one I saw is not engraveed, it's a "fancy" rcvr cover with roll embossing, that adds bulk and rattles. Not worth the price and looks gaudy.

Honestly, you guys need to exert control over your continent (IE, sphere of influence), and its unnerving that the EU that is incapable of this. The EU has x7 the population of Russia, and what, x10 the economy? It should be posturing against Russia, testing Russia's airspace, funding and supporting separatist elements in Russia. Russia should be terrified that the EU will deploy 250,000 troops into Eastern Ukraine and rout them under the safety of a Franco-Anglo nuclear umbrella.....but this is not the case.

The EU needs to become dangerous. In the words of a LA gangster, "You can't be safe here, safes get cracked. You gotta be dangerous".

Kinda funny watching them go back to stuff they tested on the Abrams 45 years ago.

Realistically, what firearm would you need to take down a rampaging Na'vi from the Avatar films? Nine feet of solid muscle and bone (reinforced with natural carbon fibre), extremely fast-moving and agile, fighting on their own turf with very short engagement distances? There's no way 5.56 mm would cut it, would 7.62mm be enough?

Back in june italy was pondering about the possibility of developing a nuclear carrier. Back then it was still considered too ambitious of a an endeavour and quite hefty on the navy budget, but with the current increase in tensions between europe and the usa i believe it will be accomplished. Now, what i wonder is: will the nuclear rearmament of italy influence other nations as well?

Mechanically-driven high-rpm revolver cannon/rifle/etc. Spins up without firing until the user triggers it. Must be able to get RPMs up prior to firing. No feed system, or else a feed cutoff until fired. Likewise, no ejection until fired. Goal is extremely fast, short, bursts, like SPIW had sex with an aircraft revolver cannon.
