Pistol related but last question thread died a while ago. Are all 1911 .45 barrels interchangeable with all other 1911 models? I've got a Kimber and want a threaded barrel for it and I'm wondering if I should just get a Kimber barrel for it.

Im looking to get a few mid tier red dots to throw onto my less used guns that I still want dots on. I currently have a sig romeo 5 that was bouncing around for a while but I got it back before their QC went completely to shit and ive heard their red dots have been suffering as well. I know a few guys whove gotten newer ones that have gotten bricked in a few hundred rounds and mines lasted a while. Regardless, Whats a decent budget red dot thats still usable and priced reasonably/regularly on sale around $150-200. Ive been mostly out of the budget red dot game so i dont know a ton of the models, I just have some fancier stuff on harder used guns.
>>64697060Post source. I am willing to change my mind but am skeptical. The lower has the serial number. Unless you are talking about 80%s but in that case it's adding a twist not in the original conversation.
Chile sending Marders to Ukraine, possibly Leopards.Chile has sent an initial batch of 30 Marders to Europe as part of an extended ringtauche scheme. They will be refitted and sent to the Ukrainian frontline. Chile will recieve Skyranger equipped vehicles in return. It is likely that aging Leopard 1s in Chilean service will be sent along with more Marders.Chile planned to refit it's Leopard 1 fleet as missile destroyers and smart mortar carriers as Chilean Leopard 2s and Marders are upgraded by FAMAE and Turkish partners to totally replace all Leopard 1 tanks and M113 remaining in service. Now it seems that the Leopard 1 and YPR76 vehicle pools may be done away with entirely at a rapid pace, sent abroad, as the Leopard 2A4CHL and Marders become the reserve units at an accelerated pace.A staunch NATO ally, Chile has flirted with purchasing new build Leopards over the years as well as Puma and Lynx infantry fighting vehicles with German arms makers even proposing domestic production. The time for that may come soon. With the sometimes hostile neighbor Peru set to soon induct the K2 MBT and an 8x8 IFV variant of the K808 into service and rival Brazil likely to acquire the CV90MKIV and a new yet announced MBT soon, it is likely that Chile, now with a new pro-military cabinet elect will choose to acquire new build modern armor.
>>64695790So what is Chile likely to get? Older Pumas as Germany acquires updated new hulls, or new Lynxs? And what new tanks? Just am A8 or one of those new fancy designs with an unmanned turret? The proposal for a factory in Chile with FAMAE carries weight as the Germans want more off continent manufacturing locations in case a direct conflict in Europe occurs. It's why the were pushing so hard for the Australian factory too.

What's the minimum standard to train to if you are going to carry? I am not talking SOF, I am not talking some mercenary company standards. Just something that a person can't do after 50 rounds, but 100% of people can do after 3-6 months. Think 2 plate bench / 3 plate deadlift.I am guessing it's 2 rounds on target from rest or holster in x time. What's that x?What's the best way to train for it?
I like the dot torture method that has you practicing a little bit of everything. >shooting from concealment >strong hand>support hand It's a good warm up for any range session. >target transitions>shoot and reload
>>64697534not sure how that post got fucked up like that, but I stand by it. forgot to include a pic of the target anyways.
>>64697540>>64697534Thanks anon, I am really looking for something super retarded to use as a standard.Like 2 shots in 2 seconds from low ready within a 3 inch group at 15 yards, or something SUPER basic. I don't know what that standard should be.Also, I find target transitions on the same target to be useless. Better than nothing, sure, but much nicer to have a couple targets outside or a steel tree. Though I likely won't have time to go to an outdoor range anymore. And also need a good timer recommendation, like the glock/honda civic of shot timers with a random start beep component.
>>64697471I have nothing to base this on other than feels, but I think a 2 second draw and 3 accurate hits in 3 seconds at 7 yards is a pretty achievable standard for carry without expecting too much. A two second draw means you have at least gotten consistent with your grip and know how to draw without snagging on everything, and one shot every .5 seconds shows that you have acceptable trigger control and probably won't be pulling shots into the dirt if you get attacked. Realistically, even that's probably beyond the point of diminishing returns for carry, but if a person is going to carry a gun, they should at least put some goddamn effort into it.

I am very curious to know what /k/ would use in the zombiepocalypse. What would actually be best? I always thought that the writers for the show had a lot of missed opportunities for /k/ino guns, gear, armor and weapon concepts both from history and modern times they could have applied to the show. A lot of stuff just felt like it was missing. Every time there was an actually big faction it seemed like they didn't equip their grunts with the most effective choices. Keep in mind, it would still have to be things that you can continue to use well into the future. There is no military supply chain in the zombie apocalypse unless you are with an utterly gigantic group of survivors.
>>64693794>Also does anyone else fucking hate the concept that the military would be somehow destroyed, but the fuggin, IT specialist, farmer John, random coma cop, and pregnant mother survive? Fuckin retarded, TWD is absolute dogshit in more ways than just the guns being shit.easy explanationI thought about this and there is one plausible situation where the entire military would be taken outforced vax
>>64696539Rollout too slow, minimal testing required that would expose the failures, maybe, MAYBE a botched batch causes a grip to get fucked up, but even with the covid shit it took forever for somethin to come out, and forever for the military to officially require it. I honestly don't know if there could be a niche situation where the vaccine was slow enough that no one noticed until it was too late, but fast enough that it zombified the military before they finished their work.Worth mentioning however, there would be a huge difference between covid, which basically didn't do anything unless you were old or fucked up anyway, and a guaranteed death sentence zombie virus.
>>64693824>I'm in the militaryThose crayons eating retards would be the first to get zombied.

Boring topic but I'm finally happy with what I've cobbled together from different components I've acquired over the years. Covers 5.56, 7.62, and 40mm bores. I'm a milfag who works for a living so no 9mm handgun for me. Does double duty for both my personal rifle and my issued weapons. >1. Repurposed Otis 5.56/9mm Defender cleaning kit pouchNot the only thing that'll work, but I like that it clamshells open. Got it as a gift. I pulled most of the extra shit out of it because having pull through cables and bore snakes in addition to a full on sectional cleaning rod is just redundant. Use one or the other. >2. Two ragsJust a cut up t shirt. One for wiping shit off with, one for laying small parts on. PSA: You can, in fact, wash these every once in a while. >3. Otis stiff bristle brush Have gone back and forth on carrying a brass one too but I've either never needed it or the shit was baked on so hard (M240 gas plug) I had to use a scraper. >4. Plastic pickFor all the things a long, slim, pointy object is good for when trying to clean tight spaces. Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>64695914anybody know if this kind of cleaning rod exists in brass?i mean the length, seems like most brass are 3 piece and too long.
Lubes cleaner sample was wild ngl
>>64696339>anybody know if this kind of cleaning rod exists in brass?>i mean the length, seems like most brass are 3 piece and too long.I looked far and wide back when I was still tisming out about it and couldn't anything the right size in brass or aluminum. I have since ceased to care. I can't even scratch the finish off the barrel with one of these rods. My bores are all chrome. I have seen exactly zero documented evidence of any damage to the bore of a rifle (even super soft autism PRS stainless) by a cleaning rod rubbing the inside. Just boomers on the internet insisting it's real because it's always been that way. They're made of some kind of mystery mild steel. Never seen the spec sheet. Hardness spec? IDK. I might find someone to put a tester on it to satisfy my curiosity. But I'm fairly confident that it's in the same annealed state (70ish Rockwell B) it came from the mill as bar stock in. There is zero spring to it if you bend it - which is why you should follow the manual and always pull it through the bore rather than push. For reference the temper spec on an M4 barrel is between 28-33 Rockwell C. See pic related for how high on the B scale you have to be to even show up on the C scale.
>>64696320Sounds like what I'm going to end up doing. Spares for each kind of gun end up getting a marker labeled baggie which will go in a can or box. Furniture...I might have to go custom crates on that with plastic sheet on bottom so they slide. Just too big to go in any other place; have a spare AR and AK set and that's already a lot of space, not even getting into having spares for guns with one piece wood stocks.
Why was the Longbow in use for literally 300 years when it simply could not penetrate armor? I have watched several experiments with modern reproductions and never once has it achieved penetration of plate armor. In this latest one they can't even pen at point-blank range a late medieval brigandine and cheap Sallet helmet which was worn by poorfag troops. Rich nobles wore high-end bespoke plate made from tempered steel with every surface calculated to deflect blows and it would have zero chance against that. The amount of training that went into using the bow doesn't seem worth the results.https://youtu.be/SFFgcTzCvMo
>>64684834First off, not everyone had fancy fitted plate armor. You had a lot of suits of old chainmail, brigandines, and half plate. Second, being hit by arrows was disruptive and annoying. The English liked to provoke French charges into killing fields. Crecy, for example. Third, armor wasn't uniformly thick. Plate armor was thickest on the head and torso but thinner on the limbs. You could still knock a man out of a fight with a hit to his sword arm. Fourth, by the time brigandines came around you were seeing 100+ pound longbows and crossbows. Some heavy arbalests had thousand pound draws. Those hit a lot harder than the 30-60 pound bows in your vid.
What are these fags trying to prove? That Agincourt or Crecy are fake history?Clearly the longbow was an effective weapon and the English knew how to get the most out of it.The Harlequin by Cromwell is worth a read if you want some bow kino
>>64689636historical implessive
>>64684834because you can't have armor everywhere and you can't have you entire army wearing full plate armor you retard, also this is literally explained in the video you linked and supposedly watched you subhuman cretin

>>64689618>tx22wtf even is that, Nogunz
>>64689515Generally this only applies to ones replicating locked breach pistols in blowback and is more of a durability problem thing due to how light the slide needs to be for it's size.Something like the .22 Walther really has no reason not to work. They just suck because umarex sucks. But even locked breach "service pistol" styled blowback .22s can be fine if they're made competently, like the Taurus tx 22 or Ruger sr 22
>>64689534There's also GSG which is somehow worse.
