When will the USS Ford be able to launch F-35C's?

>>64764845

Yes, sort of, it can laynch/recover, do all that normally but it doesn't have certain testing/maintenance stands for the F-35c so it can't do like 100 hour or quarterly maintenance. Apparently due to changes that were made on the C model after those had already been installed. Navair doesn't consider it a huge issue though as the jets can get cross decked over to a different CVN for the inspections or just land at a airbase or whatever. Presumably will be rectified next time it is in an availability at the yard.

>China has no choice but to rush their new aircraft onto their new carrier because the J-35 can't launch from their other carriers
>Somehow this means China stronk or something
>>
>>64771265
I've always wondered if the Marines have a similar issue with operating F-35Bs from the older assault ships or if it's just a Navy/F-35C thing.
>>
>>64771581
It's not a risk mitigation thing. Like anon >>64771265 said, the Ford wasn't built with the maintenance infrastructure to handle the F-35C but a couple of the Nimitz-class have gone in for their midlife refueling/upgrades since then and so they do have the needed maintenance facilities. One of the (many) reasons why the JFK has been delayed so much is that they decided to go back and refit it with the new hangar/maintenance bays while it was still under construction, instead of waiting 25 years for it to come in for a midlife refit.

Damn. Totally forgot about those guys. I think they said that the helmets were made out of fiberglass or a similar material that provided no protection. They also said that you couldn't lie prone while using the helmets because of the "neck guard" would prevent you from raising your head up. I think Saddam's son just liked the style and that is why they used it.

Image you linked is the Restoration of 1814/15 (excluding Napoleon's 100 Days) to 1830, per wikipedia at least (open to being wrong here) this is what they'd be wearing in active service. I'd assume like the Swiss guard you'd have stuffy guys around the palaces with the actual reserve or non-duty guys drilling and training in something like this

OK reading more and that specifically is the Garde de la Manche so more of a processional bodyguard outfit. If you look at the UK, the Honorable Corps of Gentleman at Arms and especially the Royal Company of Archers are similar. Something like an elite honor guard but not necessarily the best of the best delta force guys but very tenured experienced people in a semi ritualized thing.

I posted about this a long time ago, the day I found these magazines. A shitload of old hunting mags going back to 1980 (ignore the CDs and games). I'd love to scan and share them, but all my research comes up at the possibility of copyright rape. Is there some way to do this that I'm missing? I don't want these to slowly turn to dust in my entertainment center

Every time someone cites the 'gorilla warfare!1' meme they can only ever cite those two examples. One in Vietnam where the US military was hamstrung by it's own government and wasn't allowed to to follow them or attack North Vietnam. The other in Afghanistan where the Taliban scurried over the border into Pakistan and the US Government prevented the military from following them again, and every time they climbed over the mountains back into Afghanistan they got turned into paste. That's not even to mention the K:D ration in Vietnam was lopsided in favor of the US to put it mildly, and in Afghanistan it was outright laughable for the amount of time we were there.

Guerilla warfare doesn't work on an island against the US military (the island itself being within pissing distance of America too), with a bunch of weapons leftover from the 60s, with a population that by and large isn't interested in maintaining Communism for the sake of it. Anyone interested can go and check out how the Cuban 'masters' faired in Angola.
>>
>>64770884
Yea, being trapped on an island without retreat or resupply, while the US airforce is circling above does not sound very sustainable.
>>

you're a retard that's mad goat romancing tribesmen and buck-toothed gooks btfoed you, now coping with your video-game highscore logic

>muh political constraints
that's a military reality retard, the US internal system allowing for its military prowess is reliant upon a pacifist populace that is not aggressively tribal and ethnocentric, thus excluding certain forms of warfare from your military repertoire, the fear of chinese intervention in north vietnam was also a military reality
>muh US K.D in vietnam
why do mutts always seem to forget the south vietnamese they claimed to have been helping in the first place? your 'allies' died in droves as well

yeah you guys could have 'won' your conflicts by nuking and genociding everyone, followed by your system collapsing from the implications and cognitive dissonance that would ensue from a humanist universalist society going Genghis Khan

but yea the cuban government is full of scammers, liars, and idiots, they're not going to have much support once the US bribes their officials with a piece of chicken and 15$

not OP but I worked at goodwill while I was in college and I would not recommend anyone buy any sort of clothing or fabric from there. They don't wash any of it, and at least twice a week donation bags would come in with either human or animal shit mixed in with the clothes.

UN peacekeepers should be armed to the tits. I'm talking tanks, artillery, jets, high training & standards for every soldier. Hell give them fucking nuclear weapons, arm every infantry man into high hell and train them into guerilla warfare & build emplacements.

Then you take them, force them between two countries. And if either side tries to attack one another, you kill anyone approaching the border. You bomb bases near the boarder and shoot down any planes. And if they somehow get close to destroying this peacekeeping force, you nuke them.

>But how do you fund it!
You force everyone to do fund it. 0,5% of GPD from every country on earth, if they don't their government will face the wrath of the peacekeepers. Its a positive for more peaceful countries that don't want to maintain massive militaries due to lower military spending. This would also make the world much more stable which is good for making money as well.

Alright /k/

I’m working on a game that has you up against machine human hybrid soldiers that are heavily influenced by the following.

>Strogg from Quake 2 and 4
>Virus 1999
>Borg from First Contact

I should note there is no nanoprobes stuff for the Borg or Strogg.

If you had the chance to arm the common soldier against these creatures, which can range from crabs that move around and collect materials, to humanoids built from the flesh of the fallen employing the same loadouts, to large tracked cyborgs that tower over humans and tear open doors and corridors like it’s nothing,

what loadout would you give them, and why, to counter this?

More or less a perfect storm for preserving board culture, the only place you get something like that is on much smaller boards that may as well be dead now.
/g/ has kinda drifted back to that in recent years now that the whole "lern 2 kode!!" fad died out, and another example is probably /mlp/ being a time capsule for pure late 2012 funposting outside of generals.

They can only fly one way. It really doesn't matter, as they're not faster than the speed of light or the beam steering speed of basically an AESA array.

Realistically, what firearm would you need to take down a rampaging Na'vi from the Avatar films? Nine feet of solid muscle and bone (reinforced with natural carbon fibre), extremely fast-moving and agile, fighting on their own turf with very short engagement distances? There's no way 5.56 mm would cut it, would 7.62mm be enough?

The only thing I would like custom is to make the compensator in the style that I would like, which is those big blocky ones that also connect to the lower part of the frame.
I figure if the FNX-45 can be Rowlandized than anything with a steel upper frame should handle it about as good, even if the grip is aluminum instead of steel, but on the FNX-45 I'm pretty sure it's polymer, so aluminum *should* hold fine, right?
