>>64727375Has anybody else even noticed the Fletner effect causing the slugs to drift in the opposite direction of slug rotation beginning at about 750 yards? If I understand correctly past a certain distance with high powered rifles the slug's axis of rotation is locked at the high angle necessary to lob it that far. It's trajectory is roughly a parabola and as it descends from it's high point the relative airflow means it is traveling "belly-on" to the wind. Say it's right hand twist rifling = the right hand side of the slug is causing air to pile up there - and the rotation is causing the left hand side to "pull in" a similar amount of air.So like a baseball spun up to be a curve ball - the bullet's path curves, too. When I shoot 1000 yards it is obvious that all the projectiles hit the target in a nose-up attitude. At 1100 yards some of them "have laid over on their side" veered off center. At 1200 yds they are all pointing at random directions and accuracy has gone all to fuck. I don't have a left hand twist rifle to check it against. Also it stands to reason that if you fitted the gun with a custom left hand twist barrel - it would unscrew from the breech eventually. I ain't buying another different rifle to test this - just hoping million to one somebody has a left hand rifled rifle and they noticed this going the opposite way.
need help from anonslooking for a 2-10x or something similar for a first rifle in .223 shooting paper (no outdoor ranges beyond 300m)having a hard time finding options that aren't a LPVO with 1x. Budget is <500. Any ideas?
>>647514673-9x are a dime a dozen and would be great for .223. SWFA has some ultralights in the 2.5-10x range and they're good beginner scopes. alternatively you can look for a fixed power, although not many manufacturers make one anymore. I think leupold and swarovski still make a 6x
How do I make sure the scope is on straight when mounting? Using a cantilever

>>64751461The same system that allowed the two-round burst to function made the full-auto unreliable. Russian Spetsnaz preferred the AEK, so the AEK's features were made into the A-545/6P67 KORD rifle.

>>64750108Maybe. I know the GOST-5A / 6A and then BR4 / BR5 Granits are Alumina. The solution to tackling substantial tungsten penetrators like 7N37 just being a thicker alumina strike face is just, IMHO, inefficient. They're leaving serious performance on the table by not using a better ceramic. The concern with the BR5+ Granit is that it's very heavy, well, that's a way to fix that. There is the possibility the Alumina is something like ZTA - zirconia-toughened - but that isn't in common use because it jacks up price and doesn't get you anything truly noteworthy over mainstream SiC.As for the backers, I remember a few papers about Russian advanced aramids. Odd to me they wouldn't at least be licensed here if they're competitive with good Dyneema or Spectra. High end PE is stronger pound for pound as a backer, but aramid backed plates exhibit very good v0s on account of how aramid fibers function. As it stands, the Chinese could probably reproduce the Alumina+PE BR5+ plates if they aren't using anything exotic. Throws a real wrench at the M7's XM1184.

Probably a dumb question,What's the difference between ARC-fire and Super Safety?
>>64752671Super safety is a push button cross bolt safety, you push it in to change the positions. The super safety is an open source design made and sold by a lot of people.ARC is a traditional AR style lever that people are normally are comfortable with. This is made by ASDesigns.

>>64752738just additional cost, both are very reliable. For ar-15s, some people for the super safety have to trim their uppers. This is not needed at all for the ARC.

Anons I'm 27 years old, civilian, been working out hard for the past 4,5 years with decent results, not fat, masters degree, fluent in two languages, I love guns, I own a couple and have been shooting them regularly for years. I even worked full time as an instructor at a commercial range, and thats when I realized I want to work with guns for the rest of my life. I have had a couple of corporate desk jobs, but I don't think that's my calling. I have a strong military history in my family, my great grandfathers have fought in literally every theatre of WWII, my house is decorated with their medals. Despite that I have never even considered a military creer. That is untill past year or a year and a half or so as shit around the world continued to escalate, I realized that I eventually will serve anyway, so might as well serve now on my terms. Is going to a military school beforehand a good idea? I also would like to attempt joining special forces instead of regular military, do you think its possible? How out of touch am I?
>>64751787>careerYou should think about enlisting 4 years to see how you like it first.18X and 11X are good but only if you are in peak physical shape before coming in.Otherwise if you are dead set on serving, consider Officer roles because you have a masters and that sets you a cut above the other Officer candidates.Speak with a recruiter, they will most likely try to funnel you through the Officer route though.
>>64751787You're probably going to be pushed to go down the Officer route due to your academic background. Saying that, your best chances of being "Special Forces" are through the Navy (SEAL/EOD Officer) or whatever bullshit the army can scrounge up

By using quantum sensing instead of traditional lenses and a CMOS camera, and then running reconstruction algorithms over time on the input, it's possible to get 20x the range, 1000x the processing speed, and sub-diffraction images. It also reduces size and cost from Hubble scale to a big cubesat size.
>>64752266implessive
>>64752266>quantum sensing>reconstruction algorithmsAt some point, that's just guessing what it is and filling in the holes. For normal things, that's fine, but if it's looking at something new, which is likely for a recon satellite, won't it be more likely to tell you what it assumes it is?
>>64752685Considering DARPA, the University of Arizona, and Raytheon having been giving them money steadily for the past decade, it must do something. Their first orbital demo is scheduled to launch in 2 years apparently. Even their project patch apes the NRO.https://diffraqtion.com/galileo

>>64752338I'm sure no one in 37 million years has ever tried that and as such the super ais would have no defense against that. They don't just have better guns and numbers, they are old enough that any potential clever trick you can think of, has already been thought of by someone else a thousand cycles ago, and guess what, it didn't win them the war when it was new to the reapers, it isn't going to win you the war on the fiftieth time it's been tried on them. Why aren't ballistic submarines the backbone of world navies? Why haven't surface ships been relegated to carrier protection and amphibious operations? Why not make SLBMs out of RIM-66s and Standard missiles and Tomahawks and ASROCs? If you want force projection why wouldn't the ambiguity of the presence of submarines be enough to scare your enemies?

I am about to import 80,500 of these indian hesbee 22 short single shot handguns. They are currently in transit being shipped from India. They have sat in storage as they were built in 1959 as gunlaws became more restricted in India. If you were in my shoes, how do I make this business venture successful. I purchased each pistol at 2160 rupees (around 24$) and they cost me ($1500 for import and $5000 in shipping) so i am in for abit under $2mil. Hello everybody, Bonkanon here. Today we'll be making a morning star from exotic African hardwoods. Most of the materials are in picrel. Wenge for the head and shaft (hehe), a piece of black-and-white ebony for the handle, and some African Blackwood for handle accents & pommel.
>>64749158I'm doing this on a wood lathe. I do have a metal lathe and a lot of metal shop experience so I could make turned metal fittings, but I'm specifically focusing on woodwork with these projects. The point is to get experience *out* of my comfort zone. I do agree with you that metal collars where the different woods join would look cool though. Something else I've been meaning to fool with is nice-looking thread wrapping, like you see on pool cues and fishing poles. That is incredibly strong too. I've used that method to reinforce tool handles but never tried to make it look nice. That could be a good solution to the issue mentioned in >>64730086
A Turks Head knot would be a simple addition.
>>64713236When I was a kid I used to have a shitty wooden morning star toy and I remember the wooden spikes on it were simply glued to the thing and they would fall off.
