Merry Christmas you beautiful anons!

If you haven't received your package, please submit an email to me and we will start tallying the late arrivals, and then sorting between folks who are likely to get theirs in the next few days vs those who the dreaded USPS has lost forever. We will be dispatching the Grinch Relief Corps (GRC) as needed to remedy. Send grinch relief applications to wendigohunter at protonmail dot com

How would this movie play out IRL?
>US Embassy under siege in Yemen
>crowd of angry protesters shooting at the building and throwing petrol bombs and rocks
>3 Marines killed by enemy fire during the evacuation
>Marines return fire killing 84 civilians protesting
I can't help but think this would be a total nothingburger if it actually happened. The USS Cole was bombed by Yemenis in 2000, and the 18 US deaths in Mogadishu was only 7 years earlier.

There was no stand down order.
>>
>>64708623
You can find several interviews on youtube with guys being told to stand down. There was a Marine QRF in their vehicles ready to go and were told not to, SEAL teams were on helicopters, etc.
>>
>>64708625
>You can find several interviews on youtube with guys being told to stand down.
And we can find original testimony before they started going with that cope where none of them mention such an order, and some of the people that later said this said they heard it from another team member. It's cope, and a lie. There is no stand down order and the final report did not find as such. Going with this lie serves no purpose.

Does every infantryman get one grenade, or are some not given one?

It varies by time and place, but the textbook Western peer war manuals say 4 frag grenades for every grunt. In much of GWOT it was common for only American NCOs to carry grenades. In Vietnam/Korea/WW2 it was common for American grunts to carry only 1-2. When doing urban operations in GWOT Fallujah a common SOP was a 'grenade bag' satchel of 20-40 for the platoon to share. That was a standard SOP in the WW2 Pacific and WW1 trenches as well. In Ukraine 2023-2024 maxing out your grenade count by stuffing 6-10 plus was common on assaults.

Basically grenades are ROE, support, and situation dependent. In peer CQB you want lots. In COIN it's less important. In rural peer combat you might carry 1-2 but it's mostly about calling in artillery or drones, much like COIN just with more stress and less time.
>>
>>64707357
>Vietnam/Korea/WW2 it was common for American grunts to carry only 1-2.
I think it would be better to say they were only issued 1 or 2. My great uncle was in WW2, he said everyone carried as many grenades as they could get their hands on. 1 or 2 in each pocket of their trousers, and he had a captured german messenger bag that he stuffed another 10 or 12 into. He started out in north Africa, ended up in intense urban combat in Europe in 1944, got shot up pretty bad and sent home in January of 45. My dad was in Vietnam, he said they all carried at least a half dozen grenades each on patrols, more if they knew they were going to enter a village or town since every building would have to be cleared out, and it was easier and safer to just chuck in a few grenades and then set the roof on fire than to go inside to clear them.
>>
>>64701358
Infantry? They're going in with as many grenades as they can carry. Mostly flashbangs because WoT doctrine but there's going to be plenty of frags and smoke. Plenty of infantry fighting boils down to "When in doubt, throw grenades" followed by breach and clear tactics or a good old fashion supported infantry charge.

yeah if you look at pics from WWII, I'm sure the bongs are similar and if the commies, nazis and nips aren't its a supply issue, but America grunt pics from WWII basically all show dudes carrying as many clips and grenades as they can physically get a hold of and carry on their person. You also saw way more BARs than they should theoretically have had which I think made them change the SoP tables later in the war to include the extra BARs.
I've also heard historians say in videos that NCOs would steal or trade for M1 carbines and then make the privates who were all issued with M1 garands take turns carrying the Thompson along with the garand since the thompson was a heavy piece of shit that they generally would only use/need for clearing out structures like bunkers or buildings.
I think even the bong SoPs say one grenade per man but you can fit more grenades in their webgear pouches and in pockets and stuff

Why is there so little media about this conflict? Americans fighting actual reds with WW2 tech is badass even if it wasn’t a total victory but I guess frostbite and getting swarmed by human waves doesn’t make for good recruitment propaganda.

Looking at how bad the German reunification was to the West German economy, I can't say I'd disagree with them. And East Germany was the crown jewel of the Warsaw pact. Well educated and relatively nicer standards of living. Imagine South Korean dealing with millions of people, the majority barely sociable in a more liberal society, potential sleeper agents, malnutrition, shots, healthcare, education, like yeah South Korea is pretty fucked up if you aren't rich but actually trying to reunify Korea seems impossible unless you let 99% of North Korea's population die off.

I hope everyone has an uma-zing year!

Scar newfag here again - does anyone have any recommendations for slings? Not looking for anything crazy or tacticool (necessarily), just a solid 2 point that would be comfortable to carry it around with.
First batch of google-fu turned up BFG Vickers being well reviewed, but the mounts are really throwing me off. Would prefer something that isn't going to unduly scratch shit up.
>>
>>64707029
either spend $100 and buy pmm qd accessories plus a magpul dual qd sling. or spend $15 on a cheap Amazon sling that has clips. like pic related
>>
>>64707029
I'm using an OG VTAC sling on my L1A1 and like it. It attaches to sling loops by threading the strap back through a ladder lock, which is a silent, scratch-free and simple solution, the sling has about the right length & adjustability and I really like the quick-adjust feature.

You can find cheaper slings with the same features, and some weight + potential source of noise and scratches can be shed by choosing a simpler, plastic buckle for the quick adjust feature.
>>
>>64707234
>>64707379
Not looking to really cheap out on anything because I intend this to be my sort of "ride or die" gun. Between what yall listed the VTAC looks pretty nice, might look into that a bit more in earnest. Thanks for the advice anons.

Smartphone finger print sensors now work almost flawlessly, it only fails 0.001% of the time.

Wouldn't be wise to make a gun that only the registered cop can shoot?
This way the cop would never be afraid of having the gun stolen from him.
A lot of cops die this way.

It should have a tiny OLED display on the back that says gun unlocked/lock, and the current ammo of the clip.

you don't even need a fingerprint sensor. you could just have a bluetooth proximity sensor on the wrist and on the gun. but both need batteries which is another point of possible failure so it's not gonna happen.

Yeah, I was looking at Tisas for a while now, and it looks like they're pretty much the best game in town to a budget priced 1911, but has features only available on 1911's worth 3x or 4x the price. Their one model by MAC is an MEUSOC clone and looks damn fine, and the other is the Tisas Duty, which is an excellent handgun for the price. Honestly, I might just go with the Duty and spend the rest on ammo / any upgrades as I need to.

These guns are only loosely “pistols”, in that they are not stocked. They can be chambered in anything. No reason you can’t hunt with a 350 legend revolver, or a 308 single shot pistol like the Nosler model 48. I don’t think anybody would seriously suggest hunting with a 9mm or similar.

china is communist as the german democratic republic or the dprk are democratic or the national socialists were socialists or the soviet union was a union rather than an empire
you are using political taxonomy incorrectly and if you want to call something "politically communist" you'd probably be better off just calling it a veneer put over what anon rightly calls state capitalism which is the actual form of economy and "political economy" present in china under CCP rule and system
i dont know if you're just being clumsy or dishonest but tolerance is getting ever smaller for dishonesty for those that still care about the notion of coherent discussion and the interpersonal amd systematic foundations of truth and truthfulness

Using these ships would make it way easier for the US to win a war against China since it would give them a justification to completely shut out Chinese shipping instead of doing the "okay, you can buy food and fuel but not guns and ammo" shit they usually do.
>>
>>64707319
I don't hate the idea of them being used in extreme proximity to China's coastline to project an A2AD/ASW umbrella relatively cheaply. The PLAN & PLANAAF will have to move to open Malacca, and they'll have to do it in strength because it's too far away to be supported by most of the PLARF's inventory.

On second thought, the PLARF and PLAAF should have no problems handling A2/AD and ASW operations within 200mi of their own coast. So these ships only make sense if for some inexplicable reason TEL manufacturing is your bottleneck but you have no problem cranking out missiles, UASs, and VLS cells. But in that case, why wouldn't you emplace a shitload of them in a distributed bunker network? It's not like they're fast enough to keep up with the fleet or out-maneuver threats, and a PLARF bunker network would be more survivable than concentrating the cells onto a civilian hull.
>>
generally, with a merchant missile ship, you'd use drones for oth targeting for your missiles. this allows the vessel itself to perform its own accurate strikes missions without a need to rely on third parties.

Is it a helical "mag" or more like a belt box? I remember there was a LMG-like feed tray you need to open to reload it, and I suppose one way to make a reliable helical mag would be to just... not make it a mag at all, but a cylindrical belt box.
Also, for me, it's the OG KZ1 version with the rectangular silhouette and uncomfortably low integrated optic.

I find it so weird that Robert E Lee and Stonewall Jackson until like literally current year were held up as being better than the rest of the confederates and honorable and not racist even though they both owned slaves. But at the same time Virginia and the south in general's place in pre-civil war American history is kind of suppressed and under represented unless you want to
>muh 1619

>I find it so weird that Robert E Lee and Stonewall Jackson until like literally current year were held up as being better than the rest of the confederates and honorable and not racist even though they both owned slaves.
It is a lot more complicated and have to take into account the laws of the time. Lee had made provisions already that all his slaves should be made free on his death which is not something people could argue with but would have had problems with if he did it before death.
Jackson was teaching black people to read and write when at a time when that was considered illegal. He got away with it as he cited it was a religious right i.e. everyone should be able to read the bible.
As a result their actions are seen more in line with an abolitionist movement but having to deal with the bullshit of that era.

Did Lee even have a particularly strong opinion on Catholics. There were a lot of violently anti-Catholic groups in the lead-up to the Civil War and he wasn’t involved in any of them.
