How hard would it be for a handgonner to hit a man sized target at 60m?
>>64743971because they didn't need to be super accurate guns, their main purpose was to provide volley fire, that's why they were deliberately loaded with undersized balls to make reloads faster but making them more inaccurate. using an appropriately sized ball in a smoothbore musket can get you a relatively small spread, but it takes more time and effort to load which isn't the best thing under the stress of battle, especially when volume of fire is more important than the accuracy of individual shots.these days though, muskets are novelty guns used for fun, so you have plenty of time to experiment with different loads and to use properly sized balls, because you don't have to worry about redcoats ordering a bayonet charge against your position.
>>64734714No it didnt lol. Early guns were super expensive. They also required super rare materials (saltpetre, sulfur) mixed in certain amounts and treated in the correct way; that was privileged knowledge of the cannon maker's guilds. Early cannon was WAYYYY more effective and influential than early hand firearms. >battlefield is dominated by rich man covered head to toe in very expensive steel armor>he has literally spent half of his entire life training in the art of killing other people>he is basically invincible What actually killed this was the pike block, and it happened centuries before competent hand firearms. In France they consider the Battle of Nancy to be the end of the middle ages for this reason; it doesn't really matter how skilled or armored you are when there's 30 tightly packed guys with overlapping pike forests and halberds moving toward you.

I am about to import 80,500 of these indian hesbee 22 short single shot handguns. They are currently in transit being shipped from India. They have sat in storage as they were built in 1959 as gunlaws became more restricted in India. If you were in my shoes, how do I make this business venture successful. I purchased each pistol at 2160 rupees (around 24$) and they cost me ($1500 for import and $5000 in shipping) so i am in for abit under $2mil. Do you think people will actually buy these or should I put my house for sale ASAP?

Why was Austria Hungry so bad at war during WWI? They were a diverse, multiethnic country and since diversity is strength shouldn't they have been able to rape and gape the bongs, frogs and commies? Did they have inferior firearms or artillery or something?
>>64744538The fun thing, the Italians never kinda sorta really won against the AH. The best they did was to contain their offensive (that was already running on fumes, because the fucking Hapsburg military was starving) and when the Royal&Imperial Army started collapsing because everyone went home the Italians desperately tried to get some kind of victory to prove they did something of value and weren't simply clobbered like seals for the entirey of the conflict (Vittorio Veneto). If you stop for a moment, the survival of AH was nothing short of amazing, they had terrible industry, had to work with half of their country being Hungarians and nonetheless they managed to kinda sorta drag on with a war against the serbs, the russians and a knife in the back from the italians.Amazing they endured as much as they did.
>>64746101The main force at Karfreit were the Germans.
>>64746160Yes, and Rommel was surrounded by cheering Italian troops happy that the war was over and they were free from Savoy slavery."Caporetto was all the Germans" has always been a bit of propaganda to justify the collapse. Not unfounded, but often exaggerated.
>>64746101When you're such a great master of defense that you lose as many, if not more, men than the attacking enemy.Literally can't make this shit up.Worse than the Italians, A-H had only a couple minor victories in 1914, anything that came after that was because the Germans held their hand or just flat out ran a theater for them because they couldn't be trusted to plan or commit an operation on their own
>>64746351And the Italians never had any victories bar being crushed repeatedly and humiliatingly (oh wait they needed what, one year to get Gorizia and lose it again in 1917), and the French/British trusted them so much that they sent divisions to "help" in case the Italians scattered again. And that having the Brits and the French helping them in all ways possible and a single front to focus on. It's a miracle AH managed as well as it did, if the Italians managed the same mettle as the Serbs or the rooskies the war would have been over by 1917. And it's not even considering how secondary the entire Italian front was for the AH empire, the real meatgrinder was in the East. Let's be blunt, the Italians were barely above Ottoman-tier.
Hello everybody, Bonkanon here. Today we'll be making a morning star from exotic African hardwoods. Most of the materials are in picrel. Wenge for the head and shaft (hehe), a piece of black-and-white ebony for the handle, and some African Blackwood for handle accents & pommel.

>>64743833I do both. I used HSS tools to make the spike dowels and some of the finer details, but most of the main body was done with carbide. One thing I learned doing this project, is that you can control the surface finish of some woods with your choice of tooling. Carbide cuts more like a scraper and Wenge has very long open grain so it left a lot of tearout and really showed a rough grain texture, as you'd expect using a scraper 90 degrees to the grain of any wood. HSS tooling cuts more like a knife and would leave a lot smoother surface on the Wenge. In hindsight, I think this would have looked better if I finished it with HSS, but I'm glad I tried the carbide because it gives the exact look I want for a new project I've been thinking about for months and am finally getting ready to start.>>64743988I did think about that when I was doing research for my project but decided against it because I think that one is ugly
>>64745363I tried HSS on dried wood and didn't have much luck. Cupped carbide cutters like Hunter offers seems to do ok for me. I think I get a worse finish with maple and several other woods I don't remember right now than I do with wenge but generous sanding and CA glue works for me since I'm rarely turning anything where tolerances matter.

I can’t believe it took a 30 minute video to say what we already knew, which is that 10mm Auto is the superior automatic handgun cartridge, and that only after having to water it and then .40 S&W down for the women, manlets, and fags in the FBI did they just settle on 9mm because there was no difference at that point. Amazing.>But muh fire rate!Literally doesn’t matter in a combat scenario, doubly so if your shots don’t actually land. Paul Harrell already established this in his 1986 Miami Dade shootout analysis. what's the point in hiring mercs who aren't at all familiar with your language, culture, or geography/climate?
>>64745607>zigger said Russia is fighting against entire Nato. >turn out its Ukraine alone fighting against entire Global South.
>>64745607meat>>64737979
>>64745607funny how the current pop culture image of the mercenary is that of a seasoned veteran who's more competent than regular conscripted militia, when most of the times it was the exact opposite. mercs were hired simply because the lord didn't have to pay for their food, training or equipment, they were a ragtag bunch of misfits but ready to go. and best of all, their officers were not part of the cadre of scheming backstabbing nobles looking for any opportunity to usurp him, so having a general not close to court affairs was useful. the con was that you obviously had no control on it besides the pay.
>>64745627Not one of them looks drunk. So what do you think?
It's like hiring any good help - it is hard and you learn to settle. Sometimes that best you can get is quite bad.
Let me guess, you think your airforce needs more expensive higher performance aircraft. You could get 5 of these fucks and arm them for the price of an empty KR-67.
>>64744128It's pretty but given the weak targets you'd probably destroy more using rockets.
>>64744208You just use it poorly, it's ridiculously cost-efficient.I've soloed an entire island of anti-air with it before the new anti-air system. As the other anon said: - only one laser vehicle can shoot fast enough to intercept all the shells of one tarantula- you can shoot targets 16km away from behind a hill, keeping you safe from anti-air defense. The only impractical aspect is linked to the interface that don't make it easy to switch to the next selected target. If you could you'd one-shot each target. If the game is fair, ground artillery gun will eventually shoot indirect guided-flak-shells at anything detected by someone's radar.
>>64745690Reality is also fast-paced, most of the training is to have pilots be able to mechanically go through dozens of step in no time.Even without getting into drones, missiles swarms already require means to quickly distribute anti-air missiles between as many targets as possible without wasting missiles.Locking and lobbing bombs at ground targets without entering interdicted airspace before is also very tight. The only reason reality is not as fast as NO yet is because it's hard to get an interface as good as KBM inside a moving airplane.Joysticks in fighters don't even move (much) anymore, they mostly detect pressures, and to fly at extremely low altitude the flight-computers override some pilot action to do the flyby the pilot wish he could do.Helmet-displays have now moving toward letting the pilot select targets with their eyes.In short, don't blame mouse control scheme when reality seek to reach that kind of efficiency.
>>64745999>The only impractical aspect is linked to the interface that don't make it easy to switch to the next selected target.Huh? You target everything and deselect a target every time you fire
What type of aircraft do you want next?Me: supersonic bomber, I want something more maneuverable and faster than the Darkreach that can carry a few dozen bombs.40 PAB-250LRs loosed going mach 2 would be excellent.
